1. If you know the exact year of the motor then divide the age by hours you get to see how much it has bee used. yes service intervals types of use also weighs in as well. My boat has about 3000 hours on each motor and is 34 years old with the math it has done about 50 hours per year, which means it is dose about 1 hour per week not hard use in my books but then not left on the mooring for years either. hope this helps David
2. good to hear that the secret is getting out . I have been taking Vit C as needed now for years. if I'm in contact with anyone that is infected as soon as I get home I take Vit C and no flu or cold. this has been working now for about 8 years That means on days off the water David
3. the other option is to leave the dinghy on the shore chained to a tree/fence etc...... I bought a cheap fiberglass dinghy and leave it chained to a post. at no charge at all Cheers
4. in the jan afloat mag was an article about how he built his own dinghy one man flat bottom I'll see if I can find the link and post it soon hth DavidA
5. Hows the claim going Testlab? hope all is going well and your back out on the water DavidA
6. if it is around the waterline you can use jiff then polish with a good wax. The last time my boat was slipped they buffed it with jiff first then waxed it was great for about 8 months
7. I have just put a Winch on the front of my boat which now that I have found a loose terminal on the relay (my bad) have only used it once since the fix will say that is works well and stops the back breaking work of lifting 20m chain plus 15kg anchor and rope etc etc brand is Anchorlift. with a fixed switch on the helm and a remote switch that I use on the flybridge hope this helps David
8. cool can you get me one of thoes spider monkeys too getting old stinks BTW hope your back out on the water soon. the water is great at moment. I'm trying to get out each sunday
9. suppose you are very lucky that you didn't loose the whole shaft, thus you may have sunk...........
10. The answer of your Question is no the only way is to roll all clears up until you have the boat back on trailer

dog and pfd

I have 2 beagles and both wear there PFD's when out and about and yes we lost one DOB(dog overboard) at easter with the Pfd on it was much easier to get him back on board ( after a lot of calling him and waiting for him to come back to the boat) I'd hate to think what I would have done if he wasn't wearing it .as I have very high gunnels,

So my dogs are worth it law or not

David

15. The above Trim Tabs they look like they work by the force of the water lifting them as the speed of the boat increases, with shaft drives that may work but with legs or outboards the trim will work the same.. hydrolic Trim tabs will help with that and also help the boat ride flatter when travelling across the wind when the boat will lean into the wind, with the hydrolicly operated trim tabs you can lift that side of the boat up. Also with the the above they will drop the nose of the boat as the power is reduced and then pulling the stern down when reversing the boat..IMO Sorry Noel but to say that the actuators only last a couple of years....as per attached utube I would stay away from them IMO I have hydrolic ones on my boat and have had no fuss with them and work very well.they have most likely been on the boat from new, which is 32 years young Cheers David
16. I personally think that trim tabs need to be able to be adjusted for the conditions, I like to adjust them as the need arises. Also the utube mentioned to 20ft not 23 as is your huntsman Cheers David
17. Maybe the deckie could prop you up on the lounge in front of the TV with a day of fishing shows, esky full of soft drink. then take the boat out for a great days fishing boating etc etc etc. then give you a copy of the video they took while out on your boat catching PB's all day long. Maybe also for your trouble they could leave a scale from the massive fish they caught firmly stuck where the................... As said above i don't have deckies only mates,
18. which one the car or boat maybe both are remote control
19. Maybe with the first pic he is hoping that if he waters it it will grow And the second one shrunk when he got it wet !!!!!!
20. unfortunately i think all Australian insurance companies will ask for a out of water survey. a friend of mine has a concrete boat which insured through an off shore company, and not sure what would happen if he has to make a claim. Pity you where not informed of this before you put her back in the water. I found out the hard way after i bought my first moored boat....... good luck with it any way
21. Hi sarge if the plugs on the side that is not firing change the coils over to the other side and see if the problem has moved to the opp side then you know if it is fuel or spark . BTW if the plugs are wet when you take them out means there is fuel in that side also like a car you can change the plugs from one coil pack and cylinder to an other to check the leads are ok Hope this helps David
22. also remember that the longer it is left in the water the more sh,,,,t grows on the hull, a friend left his in for a month and had to re gelcoat the underwater area. not to mention the mechanical repair.
23. i'm with Testlab, I went 10 years without a boat and no kids weren't the problem house, work, health, etc etc etc. but when it came to get new one she could see I was going mad without and after living on that boat point place and emailing all the boats in the cheaper range and those walks along all the marina's on this side of the black stump she told me to go buy that boat now I'm on the boat every weekend. David BTW this boat is the biggest and best boat I've owned
24. in the rules posted above "the overtaking vessel must give way" so to add to that as gazz said they are going faster than you and are over taking they must give way that is the way I see it David
