when you say carbon fibre It may be the treverse x range they are now hard to find
and where a great rod in there own right.
Depending on the exact length and line rating it it is hard to say.
i would say land based rods as they as you say 2.4m long which is around the 8 ft mark
most boat rods are 7ft or under but now a days 8 ft is still exceptable as 8ft rods cast a little longer ie for plastics etc.
My opinion is amber jack
i have caught little samson fish and they are brown on top as the above picture depicts even in small sizes of 300mm/30cm.
the silver trevally is close but the fish has a slight dark line through its eye up towards the dorsal fin
also compared to a silver trev the trev has a long pectoral fin and the amber has a short pec fin as the amber jack
silver trevs
amberjack
but as others have said if you not sure what you have caught release it.
Halco roosters
the price isnt to bad
once you lose them it doesn,t hurt to much.
Really all your looking for is something that gives you something that breaks water surface
and is built not to pull to bits ie (eyelets)
You just may need to work out which is cheaper but
as all others have said it is fixable.
Just make sur ethe welder knows what he is doing
ie not putting to much heat in the leg.
Great read Bob
97 days of fishing you would surely have some sea legs for sure
i encountered it at glenbawn last year after 6.5 days
but 97 is a super effort and there looks to be some average days for sure.
Nice little report Yarra
shame about the lack of fish
Very good of you to do a little bit of a pre fish
and inform the raiders going to the social about some of the costs
cheers johnno
