  1. Hi Steve, mate I was just admiring your boat on Sunday, it hasn't been on the mooring for long & it's a nice looking cat. We were towing a mooring minder around to 40 baskets for a mooring we've just been allocated; after 12 years it's about bloody time!! I live in Balgowlah and fish out of north harbour in a tinnie I have down at Davis marina. Due to having a son at the end of last year and problems with manly council threatening to remove all the tenders along the shore line, I haven't had much time to wet a line. But after getting settled in to family life I'm back in action! Love to show you the ropes around the harbour; I'm by no means a pro but have been fishing the harbour for 20 odd years and can easily show you a some spots and techniques no problem. You're really lucky being moored where you are. It's in my opinion the best location out there with easy access to most of the best fishing spots in the harbour and easy access to outside. My main staple are the bread and butter fish of the harbour, squid and the occasional blue swimmer. We also run off shore in our big boat and chase marlin, tuna, kings and dollies so can help out there as well! Feel free to pm me. Cheers, Steve
  2. Hi Linc, I've caught them off the various ocean pools around Seaforth. There's one at gurney cr and there's a public pontoon just around the corner from near Abernethy st & the moth sailing club. Just berley up, they should be around. Also a great spot to flick plastics and soak some bait is the drop off from the flats at bantry bay. Picked up the occasional squid through the moorings as well. Good luck!
  3. Grinner, they're aggressive little buggers
  4. Awesome catch little man; bet his arms are a bit longer than when he jumped aboard!
  5. Got to enter that turtle for COM! Let us know how the soup tastes (lol)
  6. Mate I saw them doing the same thing in middle harbour sydney a week ago. Same method of towing, the marine rescue boat was a rib, the towed boat was about 6m & similar in length to the rescue boat
  7. Hi Dan, I live just over the other side of the spit bridge and 99% of the time fish with plastics. I've had a bit of luck in the past catching a couple of flatties while squiding around the wharf at balmoral but haven't fished around there for a while. The wharf, beach and headlands are worth a look around dusk. Aside from flatties you're also in with a good chance of a decent whiting!! Good luck!!
  8. That's brilliant Stevefish; You've jjust given me an awesome idea for my garage; cheers
  9. I've never caught one on the troll with a squid jig, but have caught one on a soft plastic when trolling. I usually have out a sleeper when sp fishing which comes good 1 out of 2 trips out. Keen to hear how you go; good luck!
  10. Hi Linc, mate I've got a little 3.19m tinnie which I regularly take outside of the heads but not more than a kilometre or so off the cliffs. It's pretty easy going though you have to pick your days. If its windy or the swell is up I stick in harbour. You just have to be smart about it, check the weather and no matter what practice safe boating.
  11. Very nice fish; still itching to get my first BFT!
  12. Awesome catch mate, well done! I'm stinging to get my first

  17. Hi raiders, we've cut our teeth game fishing earlier in the year; now want to land some BFT (or anything w a fin)! We're out tomorrow heading south east & was wondering who else is out & is everyone usually on 21vhf? I don't really know etiquette but is it all good to sound out other raiders? Cheers, Steve

    Frugal towing

That's too funny. The guy in the 2nd photo wouldn't want to have a big feed before heading out. Seriously, what were they thinking
  20. The wall at the marina is worth a try, can get quiet crowded but have heard reports over the years of big Jews & kingies being caught there. I think it may be in Nelson bay but not sure. There's a few fishos on this site who may be able to point you in the right direction
  21. Stonker king, looks fat too. Well done!
  22. Man what session! Congrats on all accounts; well done!
  23. Hey mate, good to hear from you! Frank mentioned that you told him a black was taken off that school. At the end of the day glad we went where we did, we might have worked that school and missed him! Hope to catch up with you soon; thanks again for all the advice mate!
  24. Cheers guys, thanks to all for their advice; everyone on this forum are fantastic with their support and advice, it's greatly appreciated! Hopefully over the next couple of weeks will be posting about landing one & not loosing one; but hey that's fishing right!
