Just a few questions when baitfishing are the rigs pretty much the same as what you would use for fishing in salt for bream, whiting etc? And if anyones got any tips on fishing it what lures and colours and baits to use, I don't expect any secret spots or anything like that Thanks in Advance Mitch

  14. Hey Guys, Just got back from a weeks holiday up at Forster and had a ball. Arrived there last Saturday, my mate and myself did our usual run upto the southern breakwall to sea what the conditions on the bar looked like while my parents picked up the keys at the real estate agent. Conditions were SHOCKING glad we weren't out there at the time . Just as my mobile rang, with my mum asking us whats taking us so long, to our amazement and the other hundred or so people on the breakwall we see an inflatable rubber ducky getting taken out with the run out tide out through the bar with 3+ metre seas running. Some how they luckily ended up washed on the Beach right next to the wall. The three blokes on the ducky didn't get much of a rousing reception as they seemed to enjoy every moment while 2 poor blokes on kayaks tried to help em out while getting smashed around also. Anyway, to the fishing bit.. Day 1 Planned to go outside on Sunday until we woke up to find a 25knot nor easter blowing. Fished landbased close to the fishing Co-op. First few casts resulted in a few snags, 4th or 5th cast in and what I thought was another snag made a few solid runs, turned out to be a nice Flathead 58cm. Mate hooks up next to small Wobbegong. We released the shark and headed to the other side of the bridge for a few undersize bream and whiting. Day 2 Went down to check out the Charter boat we were heading out on Tuesday. Watched them gut there catch of Snapper and Flatties and was informed the next day the weather was going to be bad and re-scheduled until the Wednesday. Day 3 Woke up Tuesday morning to find not a breath of wind so we got the boat sorted out and headed off. Going out through the bar was no problem with a SE blowing about 13knots Conditons we pretty calm but with a large 2-2.5m swell. We stopped off at the bait grounds, found that it was infested by Red spot Whiting. We kept a few for bait and did manage to get a few small Slimies. Fished a reef off Blackheads beach straight away bites. ROCKCOD and bloody Sergeant bakers . Moved out a bit wider bites straight away once again and i'm on to something that feels decent. 45cm Morwong was pretty happy until my dad pulls one in about double the size , not really 58cm. Also got a couple of Flatties around 40cm, a big rockcod around 45cm and another type of Cod. Headed in around 12:30 Day 4 The big day, headed out with the same charter fellow fish raider Chris-CFD went out with a few days earlier. The day started out at 7 am where we met the skipper Robbie and the other customers for the day. A brief run down of the days planned and we were off. The boat was a beast of a thing 7 metre+ twin hull with two 130 hp hondas on the back. Arrived at our fishing grounds up near Crowdy head in nearly no time. We trolled for a bit at a ground called Snapper Rock for a few minutes hoping to pic up a Bonnie or two. No luck so we headed futher. The skipper pulled out the bait for the day. Salted fillets of sergeant bakers, slimies and yakkas. The gear onboard consisted off Penn Seaboy overhead reels fitted to Shiamano roller tip rods and Penn Egg beaters all loaded up with 30 and 40lb mono. Braught my Spheros and Symmetre along to give my own gear a bit of a work out. Tried a few spots until we found a reef were all on board were getting regular hook ups on just undersize and legal Reds. After catching a few on my Spheros decided to bring out my symetre and pop a stick bait on it and managed to snare the biggest Reddie of the day just a smidge under 50cm,I owe ya one Chris LOL. A few blokes and my dad included lost a few solid fish which I reckon would of topped my effort. Don't no about those Seaboys The day finished off at around 2. Was a great day managed well over 30 legal reds between the 9 of us on board and half a dozen Flatties. Can highly reccomend the charter, the skipper Robbie was a great bloke and the boat was a Beast. Just a hint to raiders might want to bring along your own gear. Popped out to the FAD on friday for Zilch water was 17.8 Degrees at one stage Was a great Week in Forster can't wait to get back next year Cheerz Fisho5 Pics to follow
  15. hey guys, Heading upto the Tuggerah lakes for a bbq on boxing day. Trying to coax my dad into bringing the boat upto there to. We'll mainly be bringing it up there for tubing and crusing around the lake. We were maybe thinking of getting up there a bit earlier and ducking out for a couple of hours outside for a fresh feed of flatties for the bbq. I here that that the entrance is open to sea but wondering if it would be passable in a 5 metre boat or the Haven would be a better option? Cheerz Mitch
  16. hey buddy, Do ya need help with the hastings river mouth or the fishing inside the hastings. Might be able to help you out with either one cheerz Mitch
  17. yo mate, its about 7 mile nor east out from the heads. Always launch wharf rd Ermington. the co-ordinates are 33 46 302 151 25 045. Although they seemed to get moved around quite often dads reckons the buoys were a couple of hundred metres east from the original marks. cheerz mitch
  18. Hi raiders, Just posting a report on behalf of my dad. Went out early yesterday morning the 19th of december with a mate of his. Found dollies around the Dee-why wave recorder bouy water temp was just above above 21 degrees all fish caught on Pillies and pink Jet head skirts. Biggest fish was 72cm. They finished off the day at the Fad off north head but didn't see any dollies with the water temp around 20.5 degrees. 11- Dolphin fish caught and a Longtom Cheerz Mitch

  21. Hey raiders, Anyone familiar with the Forster or Crowdy head area would be able to share with me the gps marking for the Crowdy Head Wave rider bouy...plz LOL and if the Fads up there are holding any sign of dollies yet. As I will be up there in mid January for holidays. Many thanks, Mitch
  22. Hi mate, To answer a few questions for ya. At the moment there are a good number of kings through out the harbour system. Some of the boys are doing great with the middle harbour Kings. A mate of mine was out on Saturday and landed a few kings fishing shark island in the harbour and proceeded to troll up some speciemens at North head all the way down to Bluefish Pt outside. I too haven't had much sucess with squid in the harbour lately. Places like Obelisk bay near middle head and near balmoral. Normally I use a a variety of jigs when going for squid the bigger sizes in green or pink and a the smallest orange jig placed on a paternoster bouncing along the bottom. The rig I use when bottom bashing for kings is a large bean sinker in between to barrel swivels and a trace of around 75 cm to a 6/0 mustad hoodlum . I quite often bottom bash with that rig up close to the Bouy near Quarantine but beware its a bit snaggy. Cheerz, Mitch
  23. thanx Sammy & CFD, Spent to much time chasing the on 15 and 24kg, time for a bit of change will definately speak to tony Cheerz guyz,
  24. Hey Raiders, This up coming dolphin fish season i'm looking at chasing these criters with as light as gear possible. Looking at a decent combo which will not blow the budget at around $200 that will let me have as much fun possible on the dollies and if a bigger model turns up, would be in with a chance. Many thanx guyz, Mitch
