  1. just wondering if anyone had tried leaving their squidgies in gulp juice? does it damage the plastic or weaken it at all? I'm hoping to cut down the amount of boxes of plastics I take out. 3x1L containers is to much lol
  2. I would just run a big metal like a 100g raider a meter infront of ur plastic. I've see a lure a rapala head on it with a long plastic tail. I'm tempted to try make one out of an old hb and a big plastic. maybe just rig a stick bait on a worm hook and attach it to the rear split ring of a hb. I think I'm starting to think to much lol.
  3. they sound good to me mate. the new shimano sustains are definitely worth a look. I've got to ask how you lost the other two rods?
  4. nice work mate. how far up middle harbour u fishing? good luck
  5. run by Warringah anglers on the northern beaches. I event fished it be for but some good prizes up for grabs.
  6. ni worries. I'm loving them now never used them till recently. the samaki zing and camo cast are both worth a look as well. if the missus will let me add to my 20+ rods I dare say there will be more samaki's to come. if she doesn't I'm sure I can hide them in the rack lol
  7. I just picked up two new Jew/snapper spin outfits. shimano sustains matched with samaki zecton rods and let me say they feel amazing. the rods are on sale atm $300 down to $169 definitely work a look
  8. its coming to that time of year the red October snapper comp is on again. every year I talk bout and think about entering but never do. this year will be different. got 2 new plastics outfit ready. new sustain 2500 and 5000 on samaki zectons. just wondering who else is fishing it? with any luck ill be fishing on my mates new Lawrence/mako haines.
  9. buy your self some rock boots and head down off the rocks. pillies on ganged hooks a meter or two under a float.
  10. mate I've made that mistake to. Bu I can tell you there's kings a lot bigger then 90cm in the harbour I've seen ones free swimming that had to be close to 20kg.
  11. yer nothing spits the hooks like a Jew. when chasing them I only use super sharp light gauge hooks like gamakatsu octopus. and make sure you set the hook well. if I'm using a big live bait and need a decent cast sometime ill rig a live bait hook at the top with an octopus aft the bottom. I have a feeling there is some jewies round atm ill be fishing the tide tomorrow morning. keep at it.
  12. Google what angle the knife should be sharpened to. I use 3 different grade stones going from course to fine. 10 goes on each side of the blade then 9, 8, 7 ect down to 1 then run the blade backwards over a leather strip 10 times on each side. takes practice but if u get it right it will be razor sharp.
  13. mate the zecton phase 2 is an awesome feeling rod. Ir got one sitting in the corner stick with the tags on it just getting together some dollars for a sustain to put on it.
  14. nice work mate. going to have a look for some big ones on Saturday
  15. was a rough day I was on the second boat that turned up to help.
  16. mate I've never fished there but I know beacroft can go off. not sure wits around at this time of year but I know of kings to 30kg have been caught off the rocks round there. if you can get some live slimie mackrel or small bonnies and drift them out under balloons. good luck.

    Sharking

mate for shark fishing get you self a big over head spoiled with 50lb mono. and invest in a surfboard or kayak or blow up boat to get your baits out. whole or half salmon or bonito for smaller sharks or maybe a whole striped tuna for bigger sharks.
  18. nice fish mate. we were using 300g jigs mostly when we were out there the other week. also managed a couple on a 180g connected to an 80g jig when I started running short. can't wait for them to gettin closer I want to start downrigging again.
  19. how about this one I got out of pittwater a couple of months ago. it would have been at least pushing 2kg.
  20. just a quick report. decided to walk down the street this morning for half an hour to try for some squid to go with the kingfish fillets for lunch. got down to one of my favorite spots in north harbour bit breezy but nice clear water. first cast and as my jig came back over the weed I spotted a toad fish coming to investigate my jig I let him get close then went to whip it away from him before he got to chew it up but to my suprise when I whipped the rod it loaded up and a solid squid started pulling drag. got him on the deck fished for another half hour for nothing and headed home.
  21. mate ive got a big overhead LBG set up i bought for everything from kings and sharks and hopefully tuna and marlin from the rocks. i got a TLD50 and matched it with a 9'6 wilson live fiber its a seriously tough set up but havent really tested it yet. where are you planning to fish from (rocks, wharfs, beach??) off the rocks i would deffinately go a long rod 9'+ but if your off the beach and paddling baits out a short stroker will do the job and wont tired you out as much during the fight.
  22. sorry to hear that mate. ive spent a bit of time on the hawkesbury with a mate from my local tackle shop who has a house up there. its a hard place to fish and more often then not ive gone home empty handed. personally now ill only fish the hawkesbury if im heading up to my mates for a few days to get out of sydney.
  23. I'm very keen to check out the reef. especially once the kings start to move in closer. I'm hoping over the years the growth on it might fill the gaps making it less of a snag hazard. I'm sure it will look more like a Christmas tree with everyone's jigs and plastics hanging off it.
  24. yer mate utes running well. we can always try jigging the artificial reef or longy on a nice day. there's also the peak off botany but we have have to drive down for that.
