  2. I use to work on a site with a great view of north harbour all the way to the heads thought it was great when I started till I started seeing that it drop me ibsain watching it everyday.
  3. i would say its a mix of salmon, bonnies, mack tuna and striped tuna. they have been everywhere lately
  4. yer they were pestering us early in the morning at 12 mile on saturday till the kings took over
  5. is the tail the same?? im assuming it was barracouta ive caught the odd one round there in winter never in numbers though.
  6. does this look something like what you were catching?
  7. if it was a rounded body green/brown top, silver under side and a yellow tail its a pike. if they were long silver skinny fish they were barracuta. ive caught both there more pike then cuta though
  8. Here's another photo. Straight out of the water. I think this one was around 80cm
  9. Hahaha mate they were had earned and truly enjoyed.
  10. My back held up but my shoulders are a different story. Awesome session on the kings.
  11. After getting my first real taste of jigging I'm addicted. Yes I'm hurting today but I've got a fridge full of kings for my troubles. Just wondering if there are any other good reefs to jig on in closer waters because usually I'm on boats that aren't big enough to get to 12 mile.
  12. Launched at little manly. We lost some other good fish to. One in particular the Adam hooked upto looked unstoppable be for pulling the hook.
  13. Here are some photos including an entry for COTM my 82cm king with the $5 note on it.
  14. Got a message from fellow raider beaver on Friday asking if I was keen to go jigging out at 12 mile on Saturday. After some quick planning me and my mate bob were out the front of his at 5am. Quickly loaded up the boat and headed out. Conditions weren't perfect and the wind was a lot worse the forces but we decided to push through it. We trolled some small skirts most of the way out and managed a small Mack tuna just before we pulled the lures in. Got out to the reef not a boat in site a quick sound and we found some fish. A few barracuta came up first then Adam (beaver) hooks a 66cm king on the drop. After that all hell broke loose and every drift we were getting at least one hook up and kings were coming over the side one after the other. All in all it was possibly the best fishing session I've ever had. Bob got his first second and third king with a new pb of 85cm and biggest fish of the day. I managed 7 kings with my biggest going 82cm. Big thanks to Adam fo taking us out. Hopefully we can get back into them soon.
  15. I will try get a photo tomorrow. It seems to be leaking at the connection between the injector and the injection lines.
  16. yer mate the battery is a brand new 4wd/truck battery good quality (i dont cheap out on anything to do with fishing or my car lol). yer ive learnt to wait till you hear the glow plug relay switch to click before trying to start. since i installed new glow plugs and glow plug relay the car has been starting every morning. now i need to start working on its other issues such as the leaking injector which looks to be getting worse. i know that is going to get expencive. does anyone know if theres some kind of sikaflex type glue or a tape that would with stand the heat and exposure to deisel? even if it only lasts for a week or two i just need something to slow the leak till i can get some more cash together.
  17. Thats awesome I was looking into getting a cheap wood turning leith for the same reason but the problem I was facing was to high speed and no speed control. That's definitely a cheaper and better option. Shame I dumped my my old washing machine last time I did a tip run for her.
  18. I've owned the ute for just over a year and done just over 40,000km. I look after it and do regular services changing fluids filters ect.
  19. Personally I think its to clean we need some rain to dirty the water up so the fish aren't so picky. We chased the surface action out the heads last weekend and found Mack tuna salmon and striped tuna.
  20. Got a message from fellow raider Bruce b on Saturday night seeing if I wanted to head out Sunday morning (stupid question lol). Late start he picked me up just before 9am and we headed for the heads looking for some cover from the wind plan was a quick troll followed by fishing plastic for snapper. We put out a spread and started push south then spotted some birds abit wider so we pushed out into the swell and we had two deep divers and a tiny tuna catcher skirt in the spread. As we reached the birds we could see the surface alive with fish so I started flicking plastics at them for a few follows and bumps from salmon. With everything going on we had forgotten about the lures out the back till Bruce looked back and saw my skirt had been taken he jumped on it and brought a little Mack tuna to the boat, this was followed by a second one soon after and I managed a solid salmon on a plastic. We decided to pull in the deep divers and fish the skirt and a Christmas tree. Then it really started to heat up the Christmas tree was next to get hit but I forgot to put the rachet on and by the time I got on the rod there was about 100m of line out. Being 30lb tackle I was thinking there's no way this is another Mack and it was running hard a few minutes later a solid stripe tuna was in the net. Started moving again and soon after my 15lb snapper out bounces then again and I look back to see a bit splash and the rod buckle and start screeming I jumped on it and line was leaving the reel at speed after a great fight a second stripie came up. After that the tuna disappeared but we saw a couple of free swimming manta rays and pulled some more salmon on the skirts and plastics before calling it a day. I've read striped tuna are average eating but personally I thought it was great. Hopefully find some more this weekend.
  21. Hoped into the car this morning feeling a hopeful and what do you know she sprung to life. Took abit but sh got there. Looks like I was I was onto it looking at the glow plug relay. I would still like to thank everyone for their help and input. Now I can start looking into fixing the leaking injector.
  22. Yer living in manly I doubt its the fuel I fill up locally and haven't been leaving Sydney. Replaced the relay switch with one my mate had as a spare. Ill know in the morning. Most annoying thing about this problem is I can't find out if I've fixed the problem till the morning and then I dont have time to check anything just have to us the girlfriends car to jump it.
  23. Thanks for all the tips guys. Ill be checking it tonight. Just went to move my car and decided to see how long the relay takes to click. Dash light goes off after 10 seconds but the relay doesn't click till about 30 seconds I've only been waiting 15-20 seconds. Hopefully that all it is. Funny how it can be the simplest things.
  24. ah im use to no bites chasing big jews. but yep loosing that big one hurts alot. and yes it has been a good story to tell just wish it ended differently hahaha.
