  1. I sold plenty of DT30's and DT40's in PNG when I was up there Zane and they are an awesome motor, I highly recomend them. Geoff
  2. You cant whinge about the lifetime warranty but the question is more about the chance of losing that "once in a lifetime" fish to equipment failure, I bought my wife a Callyn3000 for chrissy and it went real well on the bass recently having accounted for a few up to and around the 40cm mark. I gues my thinking is use this class of reel for the smaller stuff and stick to the shimano stuff for the harder fish like kingies. Geoff
  3. Well I saw them in 1983 or 1984 for thier world slavery tour at the hordern pavillion (proves nuthin except im getting old hey) did anyone get photos of thier tour plane though? Heres a link, Dicko is a qualified commercial pilot and is doing most of the flying for this tour. I have a photo somewhere of myself, dicko and dave murray that I got at the sebel townhouse way back then. top band and now my 15 year old keeps knocking off my cd's Cheers Geoff This was used in 2003 http://www.surclaro.com/photo5131.html And heres a link to the new "beast" Theres a link to take a tour of the plane. http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/stor...5013605,00.html
  4. How cool is that, good on you guys. I reckon it will ad some extra Mojo Robbie. 10 out of 10!! Geoff
  5. Multipanel is available, I am lead to beleive a 10mm thick piece is as strong as a 17mm ply sheet. A 2400 x 1200 mm sheet is around $350 though but is around 70% lighter than ply. It can not rot and is fully UV stabilised. Geoff http://www.multipanel.com.au/
  6. I didnt get it right, move over Britney. GT

  9. Youngy, the lake is a funny spot and I can help you with some spots that may be worth a try, the dropover for what its worth is either producing or not and if you happen to be there when it is your lucky, Kingies and cobia have both been caught there at different times. Personnally I have had a lot more luck with plastics and hardbody lures in the lake, but the practicality of this is possibly depending on the size and style of boat you are fishing from. The squid and yakkas are good jew bait but the spots where jewies are caught in the lake can at best be sporadic so perhaps downsize the livies to poddies and drift them in the channel and this will all but guarantee a good feed of flathead and possibly a nice size squier. Assuming your boat is 4m+ and has adequate HP you could also spend some time around moon island where a resident Kingy population is on the bite regularly and whilst mostly rats the odd biggun shows its head pretty regularly. Swansea gravel is another good spot for lizards with the ocean floor being carpeted with them at certain times of the year. Flick me your email address and ill put a mud map together for you with some marks in the lake, the tackle shop at Marks Point (I dont think its appropriate to name names) also have some printed maps for a small charge and all the guys there are locals and most are bloody good fishos too and will give you information readily. Cheers Geoff
  10. 455 side console here, excellent boat. I have also fished from a 410 side console and they are an excellent boat, good ride and very stable and they go like a cut cat with a 40 let alone a 50hp donk. Geoff
  11. G'day Nathan, for most lake Mac situations I would think the 11kg is a little heavy and I would probably downsize to 4-6 kg main line, whiting are very skittish so the lighter the better. For leaders I would carry a couple of different sizes say 4lb for bream and whiting and something heavier say 8-10lb for flathead. Use a good flurocarbon leader (the japenese stuff is excellent) as it is all but invisible to fish (so they say). Always use the smallest sinker you can for the conditions. What size rod and reel are you using as this would also have a bearing on the mainline you are using? Cheers Geoff
  12. LB for LB Papuan black bass Dogtooth tuna Mangrove jack Geoff
  13. Very nice bass there Heath and caught in the urban sprawl, well done. Just goes to show how hearty the natives are. GT
  14. I reckon half the fun of catching bass is the fantastic territory that you can catch them in, great report and photos PJ. Geoff
  15. Really depends what you are fishing for Stocko, The beaches hold XXL sambos at times as well as tailor and jew, the 2 breakwalls will put you within reach of Jewfish, flathead, bream in fact pretty well everything, the backside of stocko from the ferry wharf and all the way around the bridge is good bream territory as well as flathead, the harbour at times will see schools of bonito and other small pelagics from time to time as well. Keep an eye on the Newy Herald and the local papers for whats on the bite at what time. Cheers Geoff
  16. Im with Huey, or possibly an early Stessel. GT
  17. Flick me your email addy Luring bream, I have one I made up a fair while ago on excel, very basic and info can be (tailored) to suit your style of fishing. squizzytaylor@optusnet.com.au Geoff
  18. Theres no such thing as silly questions Kruzenvax Geof
  19. I regularly troll with my leccy, about 5 ks should be achievable with adequate power. Geoff
  20. I used to regularly use a small treble as a stinger inserted in the bait fishes bum, helps keep the pickers away too, good for yakkas, tailor and poddies etc. Have caught lizards on them regularly but jew only on the main hook. geoff
  21. Biggest thing I will say is this, if you plan of fitting a foil or using an aftermarket prop, talk to your dealer first and clarify exactly if and how it will effect your warranty. Whilst I havent had any warranty issues, after buying the motor (60hp lo-tech) the tohatsu importer decided to play silly buggers and effectively told me that any thing and everything would void my warranty if I did it. GT
  22. Thanks Dianne, been a while since Ive been down there, thats probably why....takes too long to reach the bass down near the freeway Cheers Geoff
