  1. This book by Peter Goadby is a great starting point for anyone wishing to start gamefishing, It has a fantastic species section, rigs, trolling spreads and patterns and some amazing pictures. Ive had my copy going on about 12 years and have loaned to numerous people. Around 250 pages from memory and hardcover, looks very good on the coffee table too. You should be able to pick up a copy locally too. Geoff http://www.allbookstores.com/book/97800701...amefishing.html
  2. Great photo Carl, I used to stay in Rabaul every couple of months with work when I was in PNG at the Hamamas Hotel and it took a lot of getting used to the constant rumble of Tavurvur, ill try to dig up some photos of shortly after the eruption, but when traveling from Kokopo (the new town) and Rabaul you would drive through sections where the ash had been excavated over 30 feet deep to expose the road! what is even more amazing is that matupit island where the volcano is located was totally untouched, the ash literally blew over the top! An amazing place is Rabaul as is all of PNG many amazing memories of Game fishing comps and blinder weekends! Geoff
  3. I had the operation (keyhole) on my left hand about a year and a half ago and have never looked back, people who dont suffer from it cant begin to understand how bad it can really get. The exersizes you have mentioned were enough to get my right hand (no jokes please) back to about 90% and were recomended to me by one of Australias leading therapists. GT
  4. Tan it has and is happening, Port Stephens, Jarvis Bay, Byron bay. The hawkesbury shelf biodiversity study has been in existence for a few years now and is the basis for the plans. There were a few of us who attended all the rallies, all the info nights, crashed the 2006 state labour conference at town hall and consistently saw 150 and less people who could be bothered to attend the protests etc. The attitude that it wont happen is the exact reason it will happen and has happened. What the fishos need urgently is one group to represent them. 1 group of 100'000 is a lot better than 100 groups of 1000. I suggest every one start hitting the state shadow ministers with emails in cluding Envirnment, DPI, Tourism, Ports and waterways as well as the opposition leader as quite frankly a promise to recend these plans if power is taken is pretty well money in the bank, Duncan Gay promised this before the last election however the Libs got beaten (by a much smaller margin than expected). I doubt given the recent Faux Pas' of the state govt that they have the chance of a snowball in hell of reclaiming power. Geoff
  5. Yep, throw em away and retrofit owners. GT
  6. They have an awesome action, just a tap with the rod tip and they really get a wiggle up! Ive used these in the freshwater a lot and they have become one of my favourite creek lures. Orange.yellow gold is my fav followed by thr black/grey. Geoff
  7. The shimano button up shirts are good and light weight, I have a stack of Kokoda shirts which are about half the price but slightly heavier and dont breathe quite as well in summer, I have owned a columbia shirt and really thought that they were on par with the kokodas as they are also heavy. I also have a c-shirt which is made of rash vest type material and has long sleeves, very cool to wear and non restrictive, great for offshore. my favourite would be the kokodas for all round durability and pricing. Geoff
  8. Assuming the boat doesnt sell, Ill be at Lostock Dam for 10 days. GT
  9. As gazza has said, basically avoid the Swanse Bar on a run out with a noreaster blowing. plenty of Flathead are being caught in most reaches of the chanel as well as the dropover. heaps of whiting on the sand flats at the end of the chanel as well. If you want to head out a few hundred meteres its kingy time on Moon island and the Bonito should just about be around too. Cheers GT
  10. Well done Linton, and thats no fluke mate, you caught her fair and square, well done on the fish and a top photo! Geoff

    Joe Dirt

After spending a stack of time down around the southern states of the USA I actually classify the movie as a documentary, and a very funny one. Love the scene with the dog on the verandah. GT
  12. Whilst Huey may have a current solution to this issue there is a frequency emitted by the ETEC whilst operational that clashes with 27meg and no amount of filters, rewiring etc will fix the issue, as mentioned this is why most dealers fit only VHF to boats fitted with etecs. GT
  13. River 2 sea mini-vib 43 in gold/black. (ha11) colour. GT
  14. Cant beat Forster, anything from1 to 5 star accomodation, Ocean, Chanel or lake fishing, Shopping is good in town and an excellent variety of eateries. We usually stay at the cabins that Roberta has mentioned and they are very clean and Chris that runs place is always good for the low down on the fishing! The only time we ever use the car there is to put the boat in and out which is 100 metres up the road. Cheers Geoff
  15. Yep, as Stewy has just said. My 455 sees regular fad work in summer as well as regular trips 15 k's north and south of swansea heads, also sees regular dam work, lake work and river work. Very versatile boats and all but indestructible. (and no they dont melt in the summer ) Cheers Geoff
  16. In order dark blue light green purple light blue pink beige mauve Geoff
  17. Polycraft Triumph Ensign (mac boats) NZ Made Smartwave (NZ Made) Plaka boats. Triumphs are a beautiful boat but very exxy. Polycraft are excellent bang for buck. Geoff
  18. Id call it. "Cos I can" Geoff
  19. Id be trying the noerthern shore opposite the eraring outlet for flathead as well as any "bumps" in the vicinity of the north to eastern side of pulbah island, the sand flats near the channel have whiting at the moment and salts bay in the channel has been giving up some good bream as well. Geoff
  20. Where abouts in the lake will you be based Hazza? Geoff
  21. Minimal tides down that way autocad, the Shingle splitters point has a couple od different car parking areas, swings and things for the kids as well and is a nice spot to pull up for a picnic. Plenty of rocky areas as well as weed beds to fish too. Also shallow water without the weeds for the kids to paddle, before you let them in have a look for razor clams though, although I suspect they have long gone from this section of the lake. Geoff
  22. Gday Autocad, The south of the lake has been fishing well for a while now but the possibilities are limited when landbased. Try the following spots (in RED) or thereabouts. Dora Creek is always good for drowning a prawn and the lIzards should be about at present as well. Geoff
  23. lureem, I do a fair bit of trolling here in lake macquarie and whats probably more important than the speed is to have the lure where the fish are. When trolling for flathead i try to get the lure just bumping bottom, in summer here that is usually in about 6-10 feet of water as this is where I usually find the lizards. On very clear days they may move out a little deeper and in fact this winter I was getting them in 20 feet of water using secret creek hardstuff lures and poltergeist ultra deeps. (dark colours have outnumbered bright colours 3:1 on a catch ratio with blacks and purples being my favs). I have also caught just as many trolling with the outboard as I have using the electric so the scare factor doesnt seem to be an issue. I usually remove the front treble and the lower prong of the rear treble if fishing around plenty of weed to avoid snagging up, this does not seem to have affected my catch ratio either. Cheers Geoff
  24. The Radiators...too many venues to list. The Oils...Seven Hills hotel Matt finish....(now what was the name of that place on the northside of parra station?) GT
  25. The sausages and lamb were a joke, the noahs were attracted by the blood and tuna chum. The footage was shot 70kms from port lincoln in SA. GT
