  1. Welcome to the addiction that is Aussie Bass! well done on the first of many more to come. Not sure where you are from but you might be able to find a few more closer than you imagined pic was 30min from Sydney CBD cheers kl
  2. Great Groper mate well done! I could only imagine the power they must put on! I caught a 50cm pig on an FSU 4 wrap and i was blown away by the power. Surely a groper would be a pig x 3 kl
  3. Wow that sounds like very good condition (very fat). I actually was quite suprised at the condition of this fish had very thich shoulders and heeps of stamina. It is a pity folks take such fish, surely if you are looking for a feed the 30-35cm stocked rainbows are your best bet for the smoker. kl
  4. Hear, Hear I have a SA cleaning pad that I use with soaky warm water. Then treat the line with conditioner. makes a huge difference
  5. why don't you just online shop them from Japan? I get a lot of my lures genrally for about $15-20AUD. Another good trout lure is the ecogear mx48 (in brown or rainbow trout colour of course) Remember trout in Aus don't get big by eating insects, they will always snack on a little trout

  9. in the water it looked very pretty! have not seen one in the flesh for ages and it sure had good condition for a river fish
  10. Hi Raiders, Seems like ages since I have posted a report (sorry) so here goes. Had a very rare weekend off so decided to hit my beloved central west targeting trout for the first time with a spin rod. Figured my bream and bass skills would be too much for those wiley trout. Good news is the drought has well and truly broken and what a site was Lyell, full to the brim! Made my way to my fav stretch of the fish and was greated by semi flood brown water Flicked some lures but it was soon clear I would not have any luck in this torrent. Gave Lyell a shot but too many V8 ski boats and howling wind. I really thought of heading home and going breaming but I had one more river to try. The good old Cox's was my last stop and while it too was dirty and flowing at least there was some slower sections to have a flick. Out of the dirty water had a follow from a rainbow and this gave me hope as I made my way upstream. I was targeting back eddy's and snags with a mx48 and pretty soon in a nondescript pocket the lure was inhailed by a monster brown The fight was on as the buck brown rolled over the leader but thankfully stayed out the raging current. Every time I got him close he would surge away, eventually I just grabbed him as the fight was going on too long. I dumped him on the grass and took these pics, a beautiful wild Brown Trout 51cm and 1.6kg, not bad Kael

  21. It is a nice outfit, in fact it is my favourite and it was built for exactly this purpose. The blank is an ATC IC601 (2-5kg XFast, High Modulus Graphite). Components include Fuji ACS seat and Titanium Framed SIC guides. Flor grade cork rings and gunmetal and gold windings. Which matches perfectly my Daiwa Alphas Type R. The whole combo weighs just 260grams and will cast lures down to 4grams beautifully. I am still getting the hang of baitcasting and birdnests are common with the magforce switched off (which is the way I like to pitch lures), but overall it is simply a joy to use. Cheers bm

  23. congratulations Roberta your first fly trout is always one you will remember nice size too at 44cm trout realy are funny fish, they have an almost mistical ability to vanish. one second they are feasting on a hatch next minute the 1foot pool is barren or all life sometimes it realy is amazing to catch one because you start believing there are no fish well done again kael
