  1. Fishingmik a great catch and good report, its good those Dollies finally making an appearance.
  2. Great to catch up with you guys yesterday, pity about the fish side of it though.
  3. Stewy boat is going great and I will report on that a little later, however one thing I know they are not great to sleep in the water balast makes a lot of noise, but i didnt buy to sleep in.
  4. Myself and one of my sons slept on the boat so would a good start but the gusty South easter put a bit of a dampner on that. Any way we went out to Yarra Bay to get some livies, as njsconst said the water was a dirty green colour but we managed to get 3. Decided to troll out to the Bot wide FAD however when I realised how messy the sea was went to the wave bouy instead. Water temp at the bouy was 21.4, being the sea was so messy I decided to troll past the bouy first pass produced a little Kingy second passing another Kingy, on the 3 pass we got a nice little Dolphin fish Seemed to quite a few under the bouy but the seas made it difficult and son was not starting to feel the best so headed back into the Bay. Bummed around for a while with no success so went to pickup another son and a mate. Saw njsconst getting his boat, he commented that the seas were dropping, so back out we went again we got a small king at the wave bouy, we decided to go out to the wide fad, water temp icreased to 22.4 around 3k past the wave bouy, unfortunatley couldnt find the FAD so still missing, no touches on the troll out and none on the way back. Had quick bottom bash at the 50mtr mark outside the Bay and got a couple of nice Flatties and a 6lb Salmon
  5. Remember Friday is Australia day the Harbour will be busy and there are some areas closed from 8.00am, check link out for details.Waterways
  6. I faced a similiar conundrum, I looked at cruisecraft and seafarer, but opted for alloy.
  7. Great report, it a bummer when you have such good conditions and those fish dont want play ball. What size wire were using, nasty marks on that sweep.
  8. Lovely mixed bag of fish Flatieman, Beer battered Bream sounds good.
  9. Njsconst Its a Barcrusher 640 with a 150 Yammie, after my trip yesterday it really performed well in the slop of a wind, for those that havent tried it they are very soft riding for Aluminium.
  10. Well thanks for letting everyone know Deepblue, I was trying to keep this trip quite. I took my son out yesteday it was a very late start "11.30" in at Oatley the wind was 20-25knts from the SE, I decided that it was to rough to take my son out through heads and also seeing it was the first run in the boat. I could beleive the water temp in the Bay 17-18c, I did circles around channel markers around the Molinex area hoping to see bait but nothing abosulety dead, then went over to Watts mainly to get out of the wind and hopefully get something for my son not a touch, moved around for the next couple of hours for a few bites but nil fish Ahhh! Decided to go into the river and I am not that familar with spots in the Georges but we continued my son was not willing to abandon this trip until he caught something which he finally did at around 5.00. See the picture he was happy. The boat performed very well in the conditions the Lenco trim tabs were fantastic and Auto pilot is to die for, interestingly when I was heading across the Bay the sterring wheel came off in my hands "not a design feature", luckily I carry tools and was able to fit back on in short time, it appears the centre nut was never done up properly, not to happy and called dealer today. Depending on the weather I am hoping to get out tomorrow.
  11. Fantastic capture guys !!!!! Congrats I hope you guys have a large freezer.

    My New Boat

Thanks evryone for your kind words, yeah it is more than likely I will stick with Whitecaps as the name. Johnno I wish I was out yesterday but alas I only picked it up @ 2.00pm. I cant even get out this weekend as I am working. Hounddog Your looking around the 75-80k to get one on these with the same specs, however you dont have to have the breakaway system this is an additional 4-5k. You a breakaway fitted on anything over 2 tonnes, the Barcrusher comes in at 1900kg I had it weighbridged, but when you add 300 litres of fuel and all my gear it will be over the 2 tonne mark and I cetainly dont want to risk something that heavy getting away from me.

    My New Boat

Finally I have it in my hands. Still have to decide on a name though. I am looking forward to seeing fellow fishraiders out on the Bay and beyond. Have fitted: Furuno 585 Course master auotpilot Navman GPS VHF & 27mhz Deck wash Outriggers Trim tabs Also decided to get breakaway system fitted to trailer I will add some more photos when she is in battle dress with outriggers.
  16. Kelvin I wish I could tell you but it is being fitted to my 640 Barcrusher next week, does anyone offer child and wife minding.
  17. Kelvin Similiar with me bought Furuno 585 spoke dealer and had $500 taken off from there adveretised price this was a couple of weeks ago, ended up paying $2000
  18. Your right Reely my question relates more to the North Easterlys.
  19. Hi Everyone, Now this may seem like a strange question but I like to know how far the coastal seabreezes are felt from shore, I would expect that at somewhere like Browns mountain they would be very little effect, but 12 mile they could still be quite strong??
  20. Outwide thats a great effort, I am incredibly jealous as I am locked until the new boat arrives, try and leave some for me.
  21. Hey Kelvin Fantastic to see the kids really involved, great pictures.
  22. Well I ended up buying a pair direct from Reelax and they will mail them down to me. Your right Bashir you could them made locally but a pair cost $260 and at that price I really couldnt be bothered doing the running around.
  23. Hi Everyone, I just wondered if anyone has used these Rod Riggers, while they dont give the spread of outriggers they have got to be better than nothing and they are much cheaper
  24. Well I found today that the Navman 5505 will interface with the Furuno sounder, 2 dealers told me it wouldnt it goes to show you not always trust what you are told, so I will end up with the Navman.
  25. G'Day everyone, I have just bought my new Furuno 585 sounder and I am now looking for a plotter, originally I was going to install and Navman but I have found out that the Navman wont interface with the Furuno using the NMEA intrefaces, Furuno have a gp1650 which sells for about $2500 but I am trying to get out of it a little cheaper as I need to stay married! any suggections would be much appreciated. PS The unit is being installed on my new 640 Barcrusher so I am a little resricted due to the steep angle of the windscreen so I cant go to high.
