  1. Unlucky on the tailor, but at least you found a spot out of the wind, better luck next time
  2. Well they are a couple of nice Flathead, sounds like the downrigger and rod went for a swim heh ! let me know the co-ordinates it might do a drift or 2 . Well done on your first report lets hope there are many more.
  3. RPL the X-Rap and Barra mags are fine for trolling the smaller sizes are great for headlands etc, the skitter pops more suited to casting.
  4. Great looking stripie, they really put up good show for their size, great report as well.
  5. RPL as Chris said pink skirts work a treat but it is also worth having a couple Rapala X-Rap or CD hardbody lures.
  6. Top report, great to see you got some fish and the day made all the better by having a good charter boat operator makes all the difference well done.
  7. I'm looking forward to another night count me in.
  8. A bad days fishing sure beats working, better luck next time.
  9. Great "Epic" report and photo's, Ross certainly knows how to show customers a good time. Congrats on those Marlin.
  10. Well done on the fish, great to get that first Kingy.
  11. Well done Anthony great to see you picked those dollies up, pity about the larger one. They look like good stripies as well.
  12. Busy on Saturday around the house & kids soccer, Sunday looks like it will be a shocker weather wise, might do a bit of tackle prep.
  13. Left Oatley around 6.00am and went straight to get some livies, it took the best of 1.5 hours to get 10. We decided to head to the Peak and maybe have a jig and drop some Yakkas down for Kings, when we arrived there was already a couple of boats jigging and the Pro’s were there, the guys jigging did not appear to be having much luck but I saw the pro’s lift a nice king into their boat, there was nothing on the sounder so we decided to troll to 12 mile through to Browns and comeback later. We had a full spread of lures out including a pink & white feather on the shotgun, just past 12 mile the shot gun goes off and a few minutes later a lovely little striped tuna comes aboard. We continue on about 5km away from browns the shotgun goes off again except this time we are loosing line at an alarming rate, all the other rods are bought in, the fish is going down, when the hooks pull . We once again start to troll get everything back into position, and continue onto Browns and then back to the Peak for nothing Decided to have bash at the Peak even though there was nothing on the sounder and the sounder was right not a touch, thought I would put a livie out, they are all dead I had forgotten to turn the live bait tank on when we started trolling, cut them up for bait and found why the wouldn’t bite to well in the morning they were jam packed with berley. We tried a few other spots on the way home for bottom fish but only managed 1 rock cod, it was unusally quite Anyway it was a great day on the water we did about 150km and saw no surface activity for the whole day, water temp varied between 22 and 23.4 and we used 95 litres of fuel
  14. It was a very late call to go today due to the weather, hunted around for livies for quite sometime for real luck got heaps of small snapper on the bait jigs but that was it. Sea was pretty sloppy so we opted to just pop out to the waverider and see if anything was there bit alias there was nothing. Anyway headed towards the lighthouse at Kurnell and found some small snapper between 25 and 35cms ended up calling it day. Even though the fish were not too co-operative is was nice to blow the cobwebs away. I am hoping to get out Tuesday so lets hope for better luck.
  15. I am hoping for a for a Sunday bash if not I might take a few days off next week. Bought myself a Black Bart San Sal Candy today this can be trolled up to 18 knots, if nothing touches that while I'm moving around, I will surely find fish exhausted floating upside down behind it after trying to catch it..
  16. What a top night and great venue! Many thanks to those that spoke and demonstrated and of course great to meet fellow Fishraiders. Donna and Stewy fantastic job organising. I am certainly looking forward to the next one.
  17. I will be attempting to escape the cluthes of so count me in
  18. Chris I am probably looking at a reef queen, I am interested in how they perform with the braid, without the rod you have no shock absorber nor leverage in deeper water this may not be as relevant? with a deck winch being a straight wind so you take the full weight on the reel maybe harder but you dont have the weight of the rod and reel! I suppose one of the issues I have is that a reef queen has around a 355mm diameter just over a metre of line per revolution, if i get a another 50w or 80w and load full of 130lb braid will bring in just slightly less line taking into account the gear ration, but would be a more verstile outfit.
  19. I am thinking of getting an Alvey deck winch for my boat for a bit of deep water fishing, so I wanted to know how they perform etc. Any feedback appreciated.
  20. Good on you Boofhead, great the boat out on the water and you enjoying yourself with the family and a fish as well. I take it that both motors worked well.
  21. Mate the boat sounds fantastic and you are certainly getting some good gear together, there is a huge range of lures in the Pakula, Hollowpoint and Black bart range and there are still plenty more, I would suggest you go in and see the boys at Fishfinder or Watto's they will be able to show you a great selection and also suggest leaders and hook setups.
  22. Great to see you got a couple of Marlin, well done.
  23. Great report njsconst, sounds like a great week away from work but not as good on the fish front, it has been a very fickle season so far . A strike from a Marlin sure raises the expectations, unlucky on that one, at least you got a feed of Flatties and there is always next time.
  24. Great report searabbit well done, that makes any trip worthwhile
  25. I noticed in yesterdays Leader that $100,000 dollars has been allocated to the upgrading of the ramps by Rockdale council andthe State government. Work to include: Replacing the existing jetty and pontoon, parking upgrades, seawall repairs and lighting. The work is to start the first week in March, might be a little extra conjestion for a while.
