  1. I think you're thinking of Afloat magazine . Great magazine and there is often requests asking for boat history such as this. Also available on line.
  2. Just wondering - if you happen to have a fishing rod in the boat but haven't actually been fishing do you have to have a license or do they have to catch you in the act before asking to see one?
  3. I found this article in the London Daily Mail, thought I'd share it with you: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2004113/White-bread-unhealthy-anglers-banned-using-bait-makes-fish-unwell.html Cheers
  4. Was it you at Apple Tree Bay last Sunday around 3PM
  5. I also think that it's a good idea to insure your boat with the same insurer as your car. If there is a problem, your boat insurer may say that you have to make a claim against your car policy (say for instance that your brakes failed - car's fault therefor car insurer pays!). Might get a bit ugly - less hassle if same company for both.

    Boat Lighting

Do they use much battery power??
  7. Hope this link works, it's from the Daily Mail in London: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1295303/Dead-hundreds-factory-floor-sharks-slaughtered-Japan-use-fins-soup.html Cheers, Martin
  8. I have just attended a BBQ cooking course at the Sydney Fish markets (birthday present from the wife & kids), and picked up a useful tip. When cooking fish in aluminium foil on the BBQ (also apparently the foil should be shiny side up so the heat is not reflected), place a sheet of baking paper on top of the foil before adding the fish & wrapping it up. This stops the fish sticking to the foil and helps retain the juices. Thought I'd share this with you all. Cheers,
  9. I was talking to a friend today who said that he heard that 2KY have dropped Hi Tide as of last weekend. Can anyone confirm this?
  10. Is that an ashtray on both armrests?
  11. Unfortunately I missed out on the last couple of Fishraider courses but really need to get my VHF license. I came across this online course from a boating magazine (Qld based), so I am wondering if the course & certificate is only valid for Queensland. http://www.vhfradioonline.com/ Is the MROVCP valid throughout Australia?. If so, at a course cost of $29 & exam fees of around $50, this seems quite reasonable. The added bonus is that study can be spread over a few weeks or even months if there are severe time constraints to study. Has anyone done this online course?, if so, were you happy with it? Thanks in advance.
  12. I went today & was quite impressed with the range of boats on display (my son also managed to pass his junior boat license test which was an added bonus). One brand which really caught my eye was Ranger Tugs. They had two on display and they were like luxury caravans for the water instead of the road. I could quite happily spend serious quality time on the larger one which at just over $300,000 seemed very good value.
  13. We stayed there a couple of years ago for two days, we had booked into the Naviti just up the road but the room we had booked into hadn't been built!
  14. Stupid question but why are they so quiet compared to a 2 stroke? Do they have more/better silencers?
  15. Thanks Roberts, I didn't think of looking at chat groups. Good call.
  16. Thanks for the replies, must admin I'm quite impressed with the Mac so far. Was very easy to load initial software and seems much faster than our other PC
  17. Have just bought an Apple Mac laptop for my daughters' study, and the salesman said that Macs don't need any anti virus or spyware programmes as they run on a completely different system to the Microsoft PC which we run at home. He saved us a bit of money, but also lost a bit of extra commission from not up-selling us. We bought it from a reputable dealer and the salesman really seemed to be knowledgeable, but naturally we don't want to have problems in the future. Just after a second opinion from anyone who is experienced in Macs?, do you think we need anti virus software? Thanks in advance!
  18. I saw a funny film clip recently about the Italian Olympic Diving Team. No water anywhere, just their soccer players diving into the penalty area, writhing in agony and watching the referee with one eye hoping that he would award them a penalty Can't remember which show it was, might have been Rove but it was very amusing.

Proves how clever I am. It's called Scrapheap Challenge

    Tv Programme

Very entertaining programme on ABC 2 where two teams compete to make various machines from items found in a junk yard. Does anyone watch it?, it often contains a nautical theme and the end result can be mind boggling when you see some of the creations made from just junk (sometimes hilarious when everything goes pearshaped). Well worth a look at 6:35 each night and it really makes my 12yo son appreciate what can be done with a bit of lateral thinking and determination.
  21. Could they double up as a sea anchor?

    Ice Boxes

Have a look on Graysonline as Techniice regularly have stock for auction, often sold at significantly below retail. Unfortunately I think that most of their auctions are pick up only which is fine if you live in Melbourne. Cost to courier it interstate might make the savings less attractive.
  23. Have a look at Car Point on NineMSN as they have quite a comprehensive range of specs for cars. Interestingly in NSW, the Commodore can only tow a 500kg unbraked trailer but a Falcon (despite similar weight & power) can legally tow 750kg. Others that can legally tow 750kg unbraked are Hi Lux, Rav 4 and Avalon.
  24. Drink real ale rather than the commercialised chemical fizz that the majority of big brewers put out masquerading as beer! No chemicals = no hangovers & you can drink until the cows come home with no problems. If you don't have a pub nearby that serves real ale, try brewing it yourself. Much cheaper, better flavour and you get the satisfaction that you did it yourself. I prefer Coopers myself, but there's many other kits available that are equally as nice.
