  1. Carlingford Produce (near the railway station) have both.
  2. Is that the one featured in the Right Stuff that Chuck Yeager flew in?
  3. I think it's a B 29 but it is a brilliant piece of flying! Wonder how many hours went into it.
  4. I'd be interested if there was a course close to the Parramatta/Hills area.
  5. Thanks for the replies guys, I made a bit of a mistake in the timing and didn't realise that I had been boiling it for just over 17 minutes. It was a bit overcooked and slightly mushy but still tasted great. I'll keep a better eye on the timer next time!
  6. How long would you suggest cooking a 1.1kg mud crab for?, also should it be taken out of the water immediately & plunged into cold water or left to cool gradually? Thanks in advance
  7. Did anyone see 'Adventure Bound' on Channel 31 last night (Thursday), arguably, one of the better fishing programmes in my opinion. One of the presenters caught a catfish and did a full Rex Hunt impersonation and actually kissed it before throwing it back! Was he very very lucky not to get spiked or are there different species of Catfish around Australia which aren't as dangerous? I think this programme may be repeated over this weekend so you might be able to see the actual clip I am referring to. I'd be interested in your thoughts if you happen to see it.
  8. Am thinking of buying a GPS system for the car and am wondering if they would also be suitable for boating - ie, do the maps provided with the systems include such things as boat ramps and channel markers? Also, can you add waypoints to them and keep a log of where you have travelled? The one I am thinking of is powered by whereis, so if anyone has had success using one in a marine application I'd be interested to know.
  9. Ninemsn do include TVS on their TV Guide but it's next to useless. They provide programme title but absolutely no further information on what the programme is about. Perhaps it's a problem with the telecaster - maybe they should provide more details? If you can let me know the name of any fishing/boating programme on TVS I would be grateful.

    Au Revoir

Hope it's a great trip. I'm booked for the same ship for July 5 for a 10 day cruise. Let me know how it goes!
  11. Cruise Ship Caught In Cyclone
  12. Did anybody see the magnificent ship which entered the Hawkesbury around midday today, eventually dropping anchor opposite the Cottage Point restaurant? It was called the Bodicea and is the largest boat I have ever seen in the area. It is registered in George Town, but after doing a few searches it seems that it may be owned by Reg Grundy. The hull was absolutely spotless, with a shine that would look great on any car!, my son took some photo's but sadly deleted them. If you get a chance, have a look at it - I'm sure it will be there for a day or so. If anyone did take photo's, please post them. It is a beautiful ship and worth a look. Cheers,

    Voip

Has anyone else tried VOIP? I had been toying with the idea for a few months but when I saw that Grays on line had some internet telephone adaptors for auction I decided to make a $50 bid for one. Fortunately it was a successful bid, and, not being computer literate was surprised at how easy it was to set up - I was up and phoning in about 5 minutes! The phone line is amazingly clear, and at just 10 cents a call anywhere in Australia (untimed) and 3.5 cents per minute to the UK I think it is very good value. There are quite a few VOIP companies around so some might be even cheaper. I used a standard telstra cordless phone and it plugged straight into my router so my computer doesn't even have to be on. This is something other raiders might like to consider if they make a lot of interstate calls. Cheers,
  14. They are called Padlocks Just remove your safety chain shackle and replace it with a padlock, easy. This was covered in an earlier post (D Shackle thieves) and it was noted that padlocks are not load rated. That in turn could cause a claim if the boat fell off in transit.
  15. I have just received my boat renewal from GIO and there's a small paragraph in their product disclosure booket which I haven't seen before. Under the heading 'Your responsibilities' it says "Boats on trailers must be locked to their trailer...." I have never seen a security system that physically locks a boat to the trailer, has anyone else seen one?. Also, I wonder if GIO are the only company with this clause.
  16. I have just bought a couple of Shimano reels and in their recommended maintenance sheet which was enclosed in the box, they say I should 'Spray with a water displacing lubricant'. This I would assume to be a product such as WD 40. I remember reading somewhere (I think it was this site but I couldn't find it on a search) that WD 40 on reels was a BIG no-no as it could cause serious damage. Can anyone remember this discussion or can offer any thoughts on using WD 40 on reels? Cheers,
  17. Thanks Manama - I guess I could always drop in for a schooner at the club after
  18. Thanks Chris, thats exactly what I was looking for. I tried looking under Car Lovers on the whitepages.com site and nothing came up. It is under CarLovers without the space - you'd think it would be listed under both!
  19. Thanks Hooky, I've driven past there but thought it was an automatic one for cars only. I might give it a closer look.
  20. There used to be a chain of car wash places called (I think) Car Lovers where you could bring your boat, put a few coins in the machine and give it a good clean. They used recycled water and were quick & easy and relatively cheap. With the current water restrictions it is becoming more dificult to get a boat cleaned after a day out, particularly for people who live in units. Are there any such car wash places still around?, if so where?. I'm looking for something between ATB and the North Sydney area if anyone can offer any locations. Cheers,

    Amazing Stuff

    Q. If you were to spell out numbers, how far would you have to go until you would find the letter "A"? A. One thousand What about ond hundred and one
  22. Don't know if this is an urban myth but I was told recently that in NSW that if you are over the limit whilst in charge of a boat you also lose your car drivers licence. Any truth to this?
  23. Thanks for the replies everyone, you've been a great help. Is it illegal to keep female muddies?, I know we can't keep female blue swimmers in NSW (despite the fact that there are plenty for sale in local fish shops!). Cheers, Martin
  24. In your experience, is it best to freeze crabs when they are green or after they've been cooked? Also, if you are freezing cooked crabs is it best to clean them first? Thanks in advance, Martin
