  1. I have one, it appears very well built. First impressions I would rate it above a stradic in build quality, but I will have to see if it lasts the distance. I believe its only really rated for 30 to 40 lb. Good handle and the drag feels good. It has a solid reel foot and is smooth to crank over. Caught some salmon on it so far and some rats. Handled that no worries. Is pretty crap for casting but its a jigging reel with a narrow spool so you get that. Cheers Chris
  2. I would ring up quintrex directly as well. You would be suprised at the different answers you can get from different people. At the moment you are going off information your local dealer has told you, you may be able to get more information from quintrex themselves.
  3. On a t400 generally you would use 80lb, on a t200 you are more likely to use 50lb. The heavier braid will give you slightly better rub resistance but its more about the knot strength I think. Strikes are savage on jigging and you generally lose quite a bit of knot strength with braid on really hard strikes.
  4. I know someone who has caught a couple of SBT Tuna near Maroubra a few years ago. I have also seen a Marlin close near there. I also know someone who hooked a Marlin on the CC last year. All off the rocks. Put in enough time and something will happen if you have half a clue what you are doing. A couple of years ago I was on a charter. A guy hooked a sailfish on a shimano btr3500. Best thing was he has mone leader, then mono, then braid, then mono, last mono was lighter than the braid, nearly got spooled, then turned it and landed it. That showed me than anything is possible!!
