  1. Are you serious?? If so reverse the handle???
  2. I recently found this pickup available for aound $70 off the shelf. Have only seen it in the catalogue so far Livewell/Bait Tank Pickup: Installed through the transom for connection to self priming livewell pumps. The cast 316 stainless steel head fitting is installed above waterline and can be fitted with a 3/4” ball valve for added security. The 16mm stainless steel pick up tube fits into the head assembly via a rubber cup gasket allowing easy removal for clearing of debris. The pick up tube can be cut to length if required and is supplied standard with an angled tip to provide water flow when under way, without pump. The lower mount saddle has a rubber insert that allows connection at any height and also secures the pickup tube into the head assembly. Dimensions: Through hull: ¾" BSP Max hull thickness: 90mm Pick up tube: 16x300mm Mount screws: 4 c/s Has anyone seen this one? What is known as a self priming livewell pump? If I got is set below the waterline would this work aound this? Thanks Chris
  3. So explain how you are the poor old fisherman if win the auction and pay a price you willing to pay for it?? If you pay too much that is really up to you. Powersellers rarely start at $1. Anyway how much is too much, thats a very subjective question. I recently picked up a certate 4000, nitro magnum butt, spooled with 30lb power pro for $525. Excuse me if that isn't a good deal? I have done over 180 transactions and have never had a problem. I have never got around to bidding more than I am willing to pay as that has never quite made sense to me. Tiagra 30wrlsa for $450 US, yes please, got one of those as well.
  4. I really like the look of those stainless steel inlets. They are designed to pick up water on the move as well? Has anyone seen any other versions of these available for purchase? Cheers Chris
  5. I wish I was on it. I went on Sunday arvo but the swell wasn't too bad, couple of little sprays over the bow and that was it. I wanted the full Luna Park experience!! Oh well
  6. Gone Fishing you are correct. It is in QLD but an impressive moment all the same!!!
  7. Most magazines will not accept money for articles as this is not ethical. What you must remember is that advertisers pay for the magazine as this is where most of their revenue comes from. For this reason is Australia you will very rarely if ever get a bad review in a fishing magazine for fear of losing their advertising revenue. If something is ordinary they may simply choose to not run that review. The market here is really very small so it is very hard to get independant review in a lot cases for this reason. Saying that forums such as these and good old experience have overtaken the need for the above in many cases anyways.
  8. Does it come with a cliff gaf????
  9. I have a Mackay drive on trailer. As a general rule I make sure the second last roller is just under water, at most ramps this means the water is just over the axle height on the wheel. Thats more for brining it it. When dropping it in, I make sure the rear of the boat is just lipping up against the water, this means the props in no problem and for me the boat will always just roll off the trailer no problem. I always have to put the boat in gear forward, so when the release the winch roap the boat doesn't slide down too far, back off the winch strap till it gets slack in it, release strap then neutral and roll off into the water. Obviously getting the boat back on is a little tricker. I never approach with any speed, always pretty much in idle. Try and allow for current and wind. I find you can crab walk in a little if you hit the trailer slowly and allow the bottom rollers to straighten the boat a little. You can use the throttle gently and the steering to straighten it up a little. My advice at this time is take your time, the boat is not going to go anywhere if it is mounted up into the first couple of rollers. On a nice day you can just back off a couple of feet and have another go if its not quite right. Once the boat feels straight on the trailer, make sure the motor is aligned nice and straight and then power gently up the trailer and it should all be sweet. Obviously a lot more tricky with more swell and wind around but you shouldn't really be out there if that is the case anyway. Don't worry about anyone else if they are waiting. I can handle that if people are inexperienced. The only thing that is not cool is then sitting on the ramp packing up all day when other people are waiting to get out. Cheers Chris
  10. I hope my maths is good but that is .225 l per kilometre which I don't really think is right. But I could be wrong????
  11. How deep is the water at Browns. Do you need a winch or can you bottom bash ok with something like my trinidad full of braid? Nice fish as well by the way. Thanks Chris
  12. Casting wise you should be able to cast further with an overhead. You also have more control. Once you learn how to control them first of course. Easier to drop a lure if you want to stop it in its flight early. A lot easier to chuck it into free spool if you are fishing off the rocks and you need to turn a fish. Line capacity also. This is just for casting reels. Game overheads is drag and line capacity as stated previously. Chris
  13. You got to give the bait some credit, they will save themselves from the predators a little in there, the big ones anyway.
  14. They have been a semi regular catch for the past 3 seasons... As common as a samson or amberjack on the catch rate I would think. Good kingfish bait.
  15. Big Shimano Sphero's and probably a t400 or t200 rod if you are on a budget. You can upgrade the sphero's to better handle etc later if you feel the need. Chris
  16. I got an XR6. So if you are a holden fan its crappy I think I might get a bottle jack. More thinking about the load capacity, should that be of concern as its 1600 basically on 3 wheels. So its gonna do more work than on the car. Thanks for your reply. Chris
  17. You also want to negotiate Free on Board FOB as this means they pay all freight pretty much till its on the ship. This can be a saving as they have much better domestic rates than you may be able to get. Its not free freight as they will factor this into the price but it may work out cheaper.
  18. Just a basic question I have a Signature 540f on a Mackay single axle trailer. What kind of Jack do I need in case of puncture or brake service. I would not think my crappy car jack will do or will it? Thanks Chris
  19. Nice car in the background as well. Nice catch!
  20. We always leave a king slapping around the side of the boat for a half a minute or so, to see if it will bring any others up. There is nothing like spinning the up and watching them hit your lure right next to the boat. Spectacular stuff. If they do come up on these occasions we have never missed a hookup after a couple of casts. Thats on metals, I'm sure on plastics it would be even easier.
  21. I hooked a mac tuna on a baitjig, I was getting bait and a school busted through. I was gone pretty quick but.
  22. Go and buy what thas DVD. There is plenty information on there to get yourself out of trouble. A downrigger and fresh bait will get you a long way. Downrigging yakka's around headlands is always a good thing if bait schools are a little deeper as well. Downriggers will definately get you fish. I troll rocky coastline at 1 to 2 knots, have one yakka down deep on the downrigger, 1 yakka on top. Top one will often bring them up, if they won't take the yakka, just throw a raider or a sluggo at them and there is a good chance you will be away. You will also need polarized lenses otherwise you will never see them. Sometimes there is a whole school following your yakka/slimey! So far I have got the bigger kings off the downrigger. Chris
  23. Hey You forgot to mention that Marlin that swam by us. Thats not a joke to the rest of you by the way! Chris
  24. As a general guide I would say its pretty good. But as usual you have to use you common sense. I would just be able to get out Sydney Heads any day soon. The swell was pounding on the weekend.
  25. I have a mackay drive on and have been more than happy with that. Saying that I have never owned another trailer but I have looked at a few others pretty closely. They don't seem any better and some looked a bit cheaper. Chris
