  1. yea IFS is pretty good at catching pike! i see him do it all the time at lilli pilli
  2. i've been looking through Quintrex's website, in the options list, a live bait tank is available with a rear casting platform. i've looked through the printed brochure and it doesn't mention a live bait tank with the rear casting platform. i've rang one of their dealers in blakehurst but he doesn't seem convincing to know what he's talking about. does anyone know if it is an option to install a live bait tank or not?
  3. this maybe useless to you but if you're ever tempted, Nitro makes 3 piece surf rods. thats about 1.2m/section. i'm sure it'll fit into the footwell. or get the targa version so you can have it sticking out
  4. Whats this fish? and this ugly fish? i gets heaps fishing at Kurnell and bonus pic. rare thing in aussieland but hot nonetheless
  5. i've been missing fishing shows and i can't get ch31 but recently i discoverd the fishingdvd at the newsagent, went online and bought all the previous shows. i think its quite good, very informative of techniques across a wide range of fish. it quite cheap too and free shipping. Although it has HEAPS of product plugs, it doesn't really interfere. whatever to keep costs down i suppose. $10-11 per disc if you order online otherwise its $13 at newsagent i wish it was a monthly release though
  6. thanx bigfoot would you know if fishing for salmon, would it be better to fish the beaches in the bay or the beaches facing the ocean? ie wreck bay etc
  7. This will be my first time to JB with some workmates and i'm hoping for some input on locations. I've done a search but hasn't quite helped as in i don't know which locations produces what. At least i've got some maps and learnt about the marine parks. I'll be doing landbased and boat fishing but i don't want to go to those famous rock ledges for kings marlin or tuna. I don't mind walking relatively flat ground, i just don't want to be climbing up cliffs as i want it to be relaxing. My plans in short. Leaving for JB from Syd straight after work on Thursday. Fish day and night on Friday. Fish the Saturday and hopefully relax the night with some fish for dinner and beer. Come back to Sydney on Sunday morning. We'll be staying at a place near St Georges Basin Friday: from morning till early arvo, i'd love to fish for drummer. If the swells are too big then maybe salmon and tailor off the beach. At night, we'd like to fish from a beach but a beach that is close to a town. Just so its not as easy to get lost in the dark. I hope to get some locations where to fish? Saturday: we're going to hire a boat. Should i hire a boat from Husky Hire-a-Boat and fish the bay? If i hire a boat from here, does anyone know how far out can we venture? I'd like to try for Kingys just inside the heads but i'm very sure we won't be able to in any circumstances. or Hire a boat from a place in St Georges Basin/Sussex inlet? I don't mind fishing here if its going to produce the same results as hiring a boat from Husky and fishing in the Bay. I think i'll be content with bream and flatties, at least they're good eating. I'll be mainly lure fishing and i love give poppers a go on the shallows. Plus i don't know if others get seasick so i guess this would be sheltered from any big waves? Thanks
  8. the reduction for bonito is another i agree on during summer at lilli pilli a boat pulled and kept over 30 bonitos in a weekend and did the same the following. how much fish do you god damn need?!
  9. i'd love to buy some loomis rods from the states and reels from japan
  10. Fingers crossed for me as i hope to be going out on either broadbill or billfish tomorrow
  11. add to that i just want something expensive. i mean i don't have a rolex or a bimmer, a house by the water or a sailfish catamaran so i'll just spoil myself this once
  12. i hate my exage 1000! sometimes when i close the bail my line would get caught outside the roller bearing. the problem is when you wind it up, you don't feel the line scraping until you look and realise all the line is wound outside the spool. unless you have a boat i wouldn't bother casting it out or else a bird nest will form. i've already lost half my line after 2 sessions. luckily its just fireline. i hope you don't the same problem and catch many more fish...just warning you to be alert the symetre is similarly priced and i think that would be a lot better. yep they are uk model..check out shimano uk website
  13. i still see them in most tackle stores. i suppose they're not like exotic cars where ppl buy them without knowing what they feel like. but some places in japan are short of them. my workmate couldn't get one overseas. they say the earliest would be jan without guarantees. i don't know how smooth they are yet coz i'm still yet to try it, still too much grease i suppose. according to daiwa its only 7kg drag and yes the spool is light
  14. the job was listed today on seek i'd love to but its full time and it seems the work might be a bit too repetitive for me
  15. This may seem interesting to those fishos who wants to kickstart their IT careers http://it.seek.com.au/users/apply/index.as...p;JobID=9810449 edit: link doesn't work, but it was listed today on Seek
  16. Initially i was going to put 20lb but i'm leaning towards 15lb with Sufix.
  17. So is that how its gonna get me a spot in a boat eh? I'll be getting more but just not now, probably until i get my own boat in about a year time. The rare chance i get to be on a boat always has 3-4 people on it and its not my boat so i just can't barge in
  18. I needed a stronger outfit for those rare chances to be on a boat but didn't want a full blown game outfit. I can also comfortably cast lures all day. Its a Daiwa Morethan Branzino 3000 mated to a Nitro Magnum Butt. With line on it it'll be close to $1200. Everyone always say get the best right?
  19. I want to buy a boat but i'm on a good savings plan to buy a home and i don't want to change that. I've decided i want to work extra hours to save up or repay a small loan for a boat. I'm looking to work 2-3 weeknights starting from 5pm and a weekend shift. I don't really want to face any customers. All i want to do is do my own thing and get the job done. Cash in hand jobs would be a bonus. Anyone know which industry is good to get into? My main job is in telecommunications if that helps but it doesn't have to be in the same field I was thinking of getting back into my very first job which was delivering pizzas for pizza hut but seeing fuel and maintenance costs so much i really don't want to use my car. I also don't want my car to be filled with pizza smell. Out of curiosity, does anyone know how much they pay these days? Or if any other raiders need extra assistance please PM me
  20. i decided to take it to a tackle store since i pass it everyday and he said everything is normal. under high drag the line digs in no matter what. i don't fish with that much drag anyways, i set it 2/3 just for testing purposes.
  21. i think i know the technical term now. i think the line is just digging in even though i'm winding it on very tight
  22. I have the Shimano Technium 2500 and an Exage 1000 and i've noticed when my line is taken off with 2/3 drag set, the line rubs heavily over the rest of the line on the spool. Its pretty hard to explain without demonstrating but basically i'm looking at where the line perpendicularly leaves the spool. I'm just wondering is this a problem or it comes naturally with egg beaters? (both spooled with fireline) i've also notice, approx 2m above the trace, my braided line gets frayed a lot and thats after a session of using lures on the surface and fishless too! i've asked someone about this and said try a different brand and not fireline which i am using now.
  23. If you navigate through Shimano's and Daiwa's japanese webiste you will find sections dedicated for surf fishing. What's the difference between these reels compared to big Stellas or Salitgas for example? I'm just curious if there are design differences that makes them any better
  24. oops...he gave me a business card with patrick on it so i just assumed it was him
  25. there are many blokes that go there often haha but he told me some teenagers were fishing there for hours and helped him net the bonito, so i'm guessing it was you
