  1. congrats...my first ever fish on sp was a flattie and exactly same lure except i had to rig it myself as for the camera if it got soaked in salt water, you'll need to open it and wiped it down otherwise contacts will corrode over time

    Hotelclub

i want to book rooms through hotelclub as they are cheapest on the net to where i want to go. the only problem is i notice they have hotelclub.net, hotelclub.com or hotelclub.com.au. are they all the same? i don't to be in the wrong one if they are a scam. i've done a test though, created a profile with one and try to log onto another and it works. can i safely assume they are under one identity.
  3. did many looked at this post in a confused state? well i've finally found out what all that PE number represents. usually ppl would multiply by 10 to get the breaking strain which is wrong. the Japanese uses a number system to measure the diameter of a line. If you look at brands like YGK, PE8 does not mean breaking strain is 80lb, it ranges from 80lb to 113lb. Knowing what the PE number, you can now work out how much line you can put onto your reel. For eg. a Shimano 8000, for a PE4 line you could fit 300m of 50lb Sufix. Simply put, the diameter stays roughly the same but the breaking strain vastly differs. PE No..mm 0.6...0.128 0.8...0.148 1.0...0.165 1.2...0.185 1.5...0.205 1.7...0.218 2.0...0.235 2.5...0.260 3.0...0.285 3.5...0.310 4.0...0.330 5.0...0.370 6.0...0.405 7.0...0.435 8.0...0.470 10.0...0.520 12.0...0.570 14.0...0.620 16.0...0.660 18.0...0.700 20.0...0.740 22.0...0.780 24.0...0.810 28.0...0.870 i hope this has become useful
  4. Does anyone have a reference chart for line diameters given by the Japanese PE rating? I only have it from PE0.8-PE3.5 from this link I want to know whats PE0.6 and beyond PE3.5. I've tried googling it but i must be using wrong keywords
  5. black gold, gary glitter & silver fox. all 65-80mm fish. funny i have never caught a flattie witht the same colours in wriggler or shad
  6. nice fish...i'd still be happy with that be sure to us know how that nomad trip goes. i think i've gotta stop being a tight arse and spend the money on that trip.
  7. wish i was there so i could have learnt how he caught that fish. i love it when a local turns up and catches heaps of fish or a big one. that way i can learn from them instead of being frustrated without any fish.
  8. $8000!!!! thats definitely for the rich. $3000 i might consider but i'll save it for more fishing gear hhehe
  9. Has anyone been on one of their fishing trips? I saw on them on Fishing Worlds DVD and I'm thinking of going on one as i drive by to north qld but looks like its only for the rich. Anyone have a rough idea how much they cost? They have a fleet of boats and a seaplane, it just doesn't sound cheap. I could ask them but i'm hoping some fishraiders has experienced it.
  10. i've been to kurnell heaps and i can't recognise the spot i think its on cape banks side. if you look at the background, there is a hint of the silo
  11. yea ebay the way to go. eric's baits and weights has an ok range to choose from. be quick otherwise i'll take the rest and you'll have to wait again ahaha
  12. you know i might have managed to find it because i was going off locations given by the angel ring website. but its good to know from someone who knows the area so i know what dangers to look for.
  13. wouldn't a magnum butt better suit?
  14. if you're going to spin off the rocks, use a rubber band wrapped around the head to the hook or trace. otherwise after the first retrieve it'll give it a bent head. alex bellisimo loves this technique using gars off the rocks
  15. Last Sunday i fished the rocks south of Maroubra beach. Didn't catch anything worthwhile, but a bloke who was targeting Groper said theres kingies at Little Bay. So that got me curious and on my way to Little Bay this week. First dilemma, where do i park? I got to the golf club but wasn't sure if i could park. Do any fishos park there? So around i drove to the chapel. Didn't see anyone, so i parked there. Bloody hell didn't realise how long i had to walk! i should of checked out google earth first, or even a road map! Anyways got down to the beach to start looking for some possible spots. None on the left to my liking, looked a bit dangerous to go. So walked around to right and looked out, too many rocks and continued i walk. Still nothing good, so kept on walking and i couldn't get around anymore, so i had to climb back up to the edge of the golf course. Thank god it was quiet that day, i walked right between tee off area and a green, i only noticed it on the walk back! Anyways i see a noticeable track down the rocks, so i climbed all the way down. i walked to edge and saw an angel ring and i thought this must be the area where most fishos go Sorry to have wasted two minutes of your time but i didn't catch anything. Tried stickbaits, poppers and deep divers...nothing! Carried all that gear for nothing. Oh wells i guess i had to try. But i just want to know if i am fishing the right spot? If it is, i'll be back. Check the pic of where i fished and the little trek i took if you're interested. Any other raiders fish little bay for kingies? do you mind if i join?
  16. how about the new branzino rod that was just posted not long ago?
  17. when returning the spool, always palm the line from underneath the spool. if you stop the line anywhere else, the line will keep coming off and causes tangles. when trying to fix those tangles, your terminal tackle will sink and get snagged. also the most important part to preventing birds nest is keep tension on the line. just go anywhere and whack a big sinker and practice. i did it in a park and got the hang of it in a few casts. you'll get laughed at though. i got comments like "theres no fish here". i wonder how much flack those distance casters get?
  18. still finding time to get a rod for it. don't be fooled by the pic, its just an old spin rod with old mono. i think i just got a bit too eager hehe i'll probably take it down to lilli pilli to do some practicing. hopefully the kings are there like last summer/autumn.
  19. what would be the minimum lure weight be for baitcasters?
  20. I've always been wanting to leave some gear in the car so i could do some fishing straight after work. My car is parked in direct sunlight so you could imagine how hot it would be like today at 35°C. Would SP's & HB's melt or lose colour in that sort of heat? I could always carry the lures with me to work but my memory is a shocker!
  21. with lighter lures i cast it out straight instead of a loopy cast at 45° with heavier lures
  22. I received a pick-up notice card from Aust Post last Thursday, not knowing what it was i wasn't too eager to get it. Now i wish I'd had. Luckily my newsagent was still open in the arvo (normally it closes early on public holidays, maybe the chinese brought their hard working ethics with them =p). To my surprise i opened the package to a new Shimano Calcutta Conquest 300!!! Its a present from my Japanese friends, they were thanking me getting them through uni especially on the english side of things. Now the questions: What species shall i target with it? what rod shall i match it up with? I was thinking putting 20lb and put it on a Nitro Dominator rod. Then i can target kings in the Bay or Harbour like my other Branzino outfit. I've never had a baitcaster so i really don't know how to maintain them. Are they just the same as maintaining spin gear? As for casting with them, i've got the Fishing DVD with Shannon Watson showing how to cast, so hope that'll be useful.
  23. on the subject of security how do you keep your boat secure at home? if i do decide to get a boat it'll have to be parked on the street and how do lone boaties secure their stuff at the ramp? ie when you're away parking/retrieving your trailer.
  24. don't know about duty free over there but you can try the TRS http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page.cfm?u=4646
