  1. That's a lot of sharing there! Good on you. Nice report and nice session apparently! What do you call a new bag limit just for my info? I just checked the bag limit online and it's still says (unfortunately) 20? I love fishing luderick but I don't keep them, or I keep a couple very rarely when I have nothing in the fridge, so I'm not too concerned with bag limit but the other day I was catching plenty and keeping them in a large puddle of water as usual so they cannot go back to the skool and spook them, I suddenly asked myself if I was eligible for a fine if I had say 25 ludericks or so in a puddle of water? Knowing that they would all go back afterwards (I fish them back with a large net). I tried to find online but couldn't really, does anyone have an idea about that? Just not to be thrown in the "chat section", I also attach a picture of a few Sydney (near honeycomb) fish I got on Sunday arvo, in 1.5 h just before dusk, mixed sizes but a stonker 40 cm weighting 1.2 or 1.3 kg, fat like a football, and a little 33 cm pig.
  2. I don't know if it should be a good season, but it is pretty no good up from my view so far! Glad to see some guys like you manage a few (talking king).
  3. Nice, I find Rock Cale to be funny sometimes, half of them fight like a stone and the other half puts on good little fight for reasons that I don't know... When you chuck your blackfish back it is the same story whether a Cale invites itself to the party, still gives you a bit of fun! As per Drummers mind their size, I'm sure that one went back but their legal size of capture is 30 cm
  4. Don't be sorry man! 1st king deserves 50 pages of bullshit report Especially when it points at 74cm, not a bad one ! Well done !
  5. Nice! Any dusky over 60 is a top effort!
  6. You bet it was!!! Awesome day you mean
  7. That report mentions everything but soft plastic mate! :) I'm going to give you a precious tip if you want to catch more fishes on plastics, leave the blade in the tackle box and the cubes in the freezer OK I'm only joking, good luck in your new challenge! There are plenty of fishes to be caught on plastics for sure!
  8. That's a cool session! Well done boys
  9. Very strange yes! The swell has been so hard lately that Harbour was prob good enough wash for him! haha! Good one especially on gear that light
  10. Man, your son is a legend! Does he give lessons? The 60 cm mark s been out of sight for me so far TOP CATCH YOUNG BOY!!!!!!!
  11. Mate! That is simply stunning! This would take a few saltiga and stella owners back to Earth for shizzle!!!! I'm absolutely shocked by the fact that you get such a beast in relatively shallows, with such a light line + leader (regardless of inappropriate rod + reel). That's a fish you won't forget soon I bet, and a story that personally gives me a shit load of inspiration to get out and face the difficulty of chasing these bad boys in winter! That has to be the most stunning catch I've read of amongst the hundreds I've seen on this site! Congrats Congrats, Congrats you're a fishing lord (to my eyes at least)
  12. Well done man, 63 cm tailor is very good! Can't wait the third post on this site
  13. Mate watch out for reef boots too, they're only low Some stingrays over there are decent, buried, and invisible if there is a bit of wind, stepped on a 2 kilo ish one once, got lucky not to be stung, will never do again regardless. Any ray over 1 kg will spike through your boots, but likely above anyway. Well done for catching 3 lizards in winter on lure, it's not that easy!
  14. 55 cm on 9lb will be hard to beat! Don't think I heard about such a thing neither, very well done man !
  15. That's what happen to those dirty blue noses sucking everything that gets in proximity to their mouth (lure wise of course ) Although I must say that these lumps of sand do look a bit like some kind of disease like furunculosis if you look quickly! FYI herpes doesn't exist in fishes and no diseases are transmissible to human, only a couple of worms that are transmissible if fish undercooked but even then, it remains rare, good to know if you like to kiss your fish before chuck em back or do other things that causes herpes :)
  16. I'd also add that bottom species might be more likely to be contaminated but since pelagics feed on small specimens of bait, they are contaminated too. Dioxin stay in fishes fat forever, they pass from one link of the chain to another, so they do in our organs / fat
  17. I thought so for a while, although, recent studies have been done and fishes have been tagged contrarily to what some say, it appeared that some kingies are "visitors" and others are sedentary, some have stayed 365+ days west of the bridge, some even stayed as far as Balmain all year. Others came many times in and out the harbour, in other words they'd be 3 types: sedentary regular visitors fully pelagic / come once if they happen to follow baitfish or stuff like that As per bonies, they haven't been tagged as far as I'm concerned but since they cannot cope with brackish I'd guess they are just passing / stopping by during little periods of time. Finally, it is possible for anglers to be part of tagging programmes on pelagic species, so if those fisherman from Sydney Harbour are keen to help research, they should contact fisheries and get involved
  18. No prob about eating your leatherjackets pal, they're only dangerous in coral areas! Although harbour fish should be eaten moderately
  19. Nice! Good on you for the release of the cod, hopefully it'll survive. Now, with a pierced swim bladder, if the cod swims a few meters below the surface it will never reappear even if it dies, buoyancy of a fish with no bladder is not the greatest and after 3 or 4 meters the inversion would do its effect I assume, any dead fish would never resurface! Whatever, it sounds like an epic adventure you lived, good on you!
  20. Very well played! winter kings are always special
  21. Oh well, I guess fishing is a bit like TAB, people do it the way they like, it often leads to the same result anyway if it suits you this way there is indeed, no need to change anything.
