  1. I hate it when mum and dad argue !!! hehe he
  2. I just put 300 hrs in two year on a new 75 etec pushing a stacer outlaw 469 . Perfectly match package , I always run the motor hard and it has never given me a problem . Now it's off for its first service ?
  3. Great fishing mate !! What determines the spot you fish ? Looks like you have it worked out !
  4. I had the same problem with my hook 7 sounder , would loose depth reading at speed . i found using the general fishing mode under setting to fix this and it has been great since .
  5. Looks like you've had some great fishing !! Ive been trying to get more consistent with the kings using some of the spots and technique you've talked about ,but with much less impressive results . Haven't caught a keeper this season ? . It's encouraging to see you are putting it together .
  6. Hi Ben , saw you out there today as we were fishing in the same area . Not much to celebrate on my boat other than half a dozen squid that weren't touched and are now dinner !!
  7. What type of burley are you using for kings?
  8. I've got a motorguide xi5 55lb 12v 100amp seperate deep cycle on a Stacer outlaw 469 and it's been great . I use it mainly for spot lock and it has a easy to use jog feature . I think it would struggle in rough conditions , but I tend to avoid those days anyway .
  9. Well Done !!! You guys set a high standard ..
  10. A very entertaining read and a great prize in the end !!
  11. Great read !!!! Unlucky with the fish , i can't wait for the next episode though !!
  12. Great read !!! Congrats on a most epic adventure
  13. Luck will beat skill every time !!!!!
  14. Glad to hear you are ok and in good spirits I'll defiantly be keeping a close eye out for that boat ... hope we get them !!!
  15. Fishing west of the harbour bridge . I noticed your from Ermington ,I'm a Dundas local might see you around !!!
  16. The morning started early with a beautiful sunrise < which is defiantly something i could do more often !! It didn't take long to get a hit on a metal lure that i was prospecting with . I was using a fast surface retrieve and on getting close to the boat letting it drop and jigging to the surface , and on my second attempt the rod buckles and the weight is intense . After a to and fro for 10 min i see some colour and as I'm reaching for the net the hook pulls and this creature of the deep swims away . So close yet so far away !! I keep at it and hook up on a healthy taylor ,which also manages to escape at the boat . At this point that warm happy feeling after having watch a beautiful sunrise has turned into that horrible sinking feeling . I don't give up but decide to change to plastics ( 4 inch minnow ) and take aim at some interesting bust ups that had developed around me . Same technique fast surface retrieve and drop at the boat with a jig and next thing you know I'M ON AGAIN BABE !!! This time I'm calling it for a big Jewfish with strong runs and lots of weight but as i get it up i see a thumper of a kingfish that is not giving up . At this point i am willing to jump in after this one if anything goes wrong ,but luckily things go my way and i boat a new PB KiNGY at 75cm !!! I change spots and come across some fellow raiders ( hope you did well today ) and make my way home early with a big smile on my face !!!!!
  17. Thanks for posting !!! just tackled this job with ease after following your instructions : ) Ive been looking at this for a while and your post was very useful ...
  18. Ive been using 3/8 and the seem to get the bottom most of the time around the markers but i might also might try a few 1/2 for the days with more current . Use mostly 5 inch jerk shad or minnows but recently had some luck with some squid vicious jigged off the bottom . i spent last years summer susing out boating in general and the harbour. Plan on targeting kings around these areas so i may see you out there !!!! Cheers Bill
  19. Well done ,glad you were able to temp a few . Next time I might just follow you guys around !!
  20. Made a last minute decision to go out for a fish this morn . Wasn't expecting much after being out on Friday morning and getting nothing for my efforts . Got to gladesville bridge around sunrise and dropped in my favourite lure ( squid vicious) and about ten min into a steady drift I get a nice hit that starts to run . The weight was solid so my hopes were up on this being a fish I can brag about . When I finally got it in it measured at just under 60 cm . Not a bad start I thought to myself . After one more drift and no more hits I decide to make a move and head east in the hope of maybe a kingy or two . I tried a few spots and after no love I decide to back track . On my way past fort Denison I notice some surface action and cast out a 5 inch jerk shad that gets followed to the boat by my target . I let the lure drop and jig it a few times which leads to a hookup and a strong run . The next ten mins is me gaining line only to loose it when the fish decides to swim but I eventually get the upper hand and land a rat King . I try to upgrade but no love . Any way pretty happy at this point with the mornings fishing so I decide because of some looming dark clouds to head home . Had one more go at gladesville as I could not resist , but that didn't produce . Both fish were released and I hope to meet them again at a later date !!!!!
  21. i was out in the same area for an arvo fish with pretty much the same result ..
