Thanks madmac, Got the ezi guide setup on the weekend to stick on the trailer to help when the wind and current are up. Will use the same method as you and try out some of the other suggestions and see what works best. I use the KISS method (keep it simple stupid) in these things. Cheers

Nice report Kelvin, Might have some competition from the wife in the future. She has a bigger smile than you usually have. Sounds like the sounder is already on its way to paying for itself. Kelvin, The good thing with the Furuno I think is that you you may pay more initially but you future proof yourself to a larger degree than other manufaturers. Doing some O/S research and they seem to have dropped their price as well recently but I'd like to buy here and keep it localand be able to ask for help if the difference in $$'s isn't to great. Did you go with the 600W or the 1 Kw transducer? Cheers Kurt

Nice way to bloody the boat Kelvin and congrats on the fish. Good to see the little one having fun out there too. Great looking boat by the way and interesting to read your comments about the furuno 585. After a lot of research I've decided to go with this unit as well. Now to get the best price I can. Thanks Jason and Johnno, Pretty much answers all my questions. Trailer is a drive on with rollers but its heavy. Sounds like the retreiver mate is a good investment and will see if I can pick up a cheap auto winch from supa cheap auto. Cheers Kurt

Maybe they meant a trailer lock, but being an insurance co. you would want to make sure of this a any loophole they will pounce on instead of paying out. Thanks for the heads up. I'm in the process of changing over to GIO as my renewals up as well. Cheers Kurt

Was hoping to get out on the weekend for some fishing but looks like my mate can't make it. We have a Haines Hunter 570 SF and so far it takes the 2 of us to put in and retrieve. I think there may have been a thread not to long ago with suggestions on the best way (easiest) to put in and retrieve a boat solo but can't find it. Can anyone help on where to find this thread and any suggestions on handling the boat on dispatch and retrieval solo? Cheers Kurt

These low lifes give me th s#!ts . Had the car broken into last night, barrel taken out of door and what did they take, sweet FA. Had nothing in there to take. Now its going to cost $$$ for nothing. If I found anyone messing with my trailerthis weekend, think I will go on TILT. Bought a new D shackle this afternoon as backup in the future. Thanks fellas for the heads up. Already had a winch handle taken, (mates fault), but didn't relaise these s#$ts were so petty as to take a D shackle. Cheers Kurt

[kel What do you think about putting a larger reel like a 6000 (saltiga maybe) on the rod to provide a bit more versatility of use. Do you think it would be just as good as the certate 4000, balance and weight wise for SP's and lures in the harbour. Asking because for that kind of $$ I would want something that I could also use outside on the bigger Kings etc. Cheers Kurt -

Thanks Kelvin, Are the 1.8 yozuri's the small ones? Saw a few squid on Sunday attack our jigs in the middle but not hook up. We probably stayed at the one spot too long but view this as research time to practice our technique. Once the fish started to show up the squid disappeared. Wil keep at it Cheers Kurt

Nice review Jason, It answers some doubts I've had about the Egi products recently as I've used it and my success rate hasn't improved, still crap. Went for squid on Sunday and saw the squid strike at the middle of the jig but wouldn't take it fully, meaning no hook up. It was intersting for us to see how they move and strike, so it was a good research trip, but still want to catch the buggers. Got the jigs so it must be my technique. Thanks for the advice.
