  1. Yep unfortunately a fence for those that way inclined is merely another challenge for them 🙄
  2. Thats a great trev. Bet she was absolutely stoked 😀
  3. Dave and Amy, I don' t post a lot on this forum but thoroughly enjoy being a part of it. I have also never met either of you but that is certainly one of the best stories I have heard of for a long time. You are obviously both very caring and genuine people. My best wishes go to both of you for a fantastic life together and heaps of "tight lines". Best wishes from (another) Dave
  4. Hey all, heading to Sussex Inlet next Saturday for a week. Been there before but have never fished there. Wondering if those that have been there or live in the vicinity could advise what its like for pumping nippers and trapping poddies around there? Not looking for secret spots, and I understand what are likely looking spots for doing both, but just a general idea of what to expect. I'm taking my boat so will be able to move around and explore. Thanks in anticipation cheers Dave
  5. Well I ended up going with the Stradic 2500. Feels awesome .....I'll be giving it a good test the week after next as we're going to Sussex Inlet for a week and weather permitting hope to get the boat out onto St Georges Basin. Haven't fished there before so looking forward to exploring the area. Thanks to all that contributed and gave me feedback and experience on the Stradic, very much appreciated. cheers Dave
  6. Thanks mate. I'm pretty well convinced i will go with tried and tested Stradic. Appreciate your input.
  7. @Rob81thats an interesting take on the 2 reels. I guess 10 g lighter is really sfa, but admit never considered the Vanquish at all. It doesn't seem to get as much publicity as its cousins. Thanks for your reply mate.
  8. @GoldenHourFishingthanks so much for your reply. A very interesting observation on your part through many hours, as you said of testing both. Appreciate your reply mate.
  9. @JonDthanks for the reply. It seems a common theme that the Stradics are a great product. Been around for ages so I guess the old ..if its not broke don't replace it, is applicable hey.
  10. Interesting @Berrero thats exactly the type of feedback I was looking for. Thanks
  11. Yep that's been my thinking too. Thanks
  12. Yep agree that can be the case, with lots of things not just reels. Have you had/used either of these models, in any size?
  13. Hi all, I'm looking at adding a new reel to my tackle bag. Will be used for light estuary, possibly calm beach for bread and butter species. Originally was going to get the Shimano Stradic Ci4+ 2500FB but have researched the newer Shimano Vanford 2500 HG and now not sure. The Vanford claims to have a few more features plus also uses the Stradic body and also claims to be lighter to turn and feel. Guess I'm just looking for first hand recommendations/observations of the two from those that may have used/own both. I'm a little torn between "stick with the tried and proven Stradic, that's been around for ages" or "Get the Vanford as its apparently an improvement on something that was already great". Price is almost identical, so that's not an issue. Appreciate any advice comments from those that know heaps more than me. Thanks Dave
  14. @King chasertotally agree. Slimies are great bait, but just as good on the plate 😃
  15. I had a pride Playmate 4.45mtrs in the late 70's. At the time I thought it was reasonable, probably because I couldn't afford anything else at the time.....but I would suggest they are not fantastic boats. Quite shallow hulls and even though I took it outside regularly, wouldn't say it was great in a chop.😕
  16. Down here in Canberra its been hilarious (not the lockdown though obviously).....now a local hobby business owner has designed T shirts with not only Ken Behrens on it but various other take offs of other suburbs here. Some money from the sales will be donated to Menslink. For those that may not know Canberra that well, some of the variations are - Belle Connen (Belconnen), Kurt Tinn (Curtin), Juan E Asser (Wanniassa), Wes Toncreak (Weston Creek), Kay Leane (Kaleen) etc. Lots more too and I'm sure more and more will be thought up. Dave
  17. @frankSFrank that certainly was a horrific time for the residents and surroundings of Cobargo, very hard to imagine how it would have been. One of my old school mates lives in Cobargo and he lost his house and most of everything else in that terrible day. You may well know him or know of him......Dave Rugendyke. He's a fantastic bloke who all his life has given so much to people and communities (he used to be a Community Policeman here in Canberra). Great pic too cheers Dave

Thanks for the advice Noelm, I did what you suggested and made up my own. Works perfectly and has a much stronger flow from the telltale now with dual flush. cheers

    Flushing muffs

Thanks for that, maybe I'll make up a set as you suggested, as the local dealer sells the rubbish ones unfortunately.

@noelmjust a question, if its allowable to answer on the forum. You mentioned to use stainless steel entire piece flusher. I've been trying to find them for ages and all I can find is the cheap black chinese variety, it seems that's what most places sell, just at different prices of course. Can you tell me where I might find these quality dual flow models? Thanks Dave
