  1. Absolutely completely and well said @Fab1. Its so simple, but still mind blowing the amount of irresponsible idiots out there 😮
  2. If you don't have any success at a Tackle shop, which as Noel said, I'm sure you will, try ringing Alvey in Queensland, they are an incredibly helpful bunch .
  3. Reckon it will be a lot warmer fishing for Hairtail.....was a very chilly minus 6 here in Canberra this morning 🥶
  4. Some great trout and lovely clean water. So no Carp there (yet)?
  5. Not necessarily mate.....just seems that most of the other guys married the wrong person. It should never be about hiding how much gear you have, asking permission if you can go fishing or conversely, your wife having to justify how much makeup or clothes she buys. For goodness sake its called a marriage, not deception.
  6. If it was me, brand spanker I would be taking it straight back to the dealer when they are back in town. Does seems like a hydraulic issue but considering you obviously spent some good coin on it, let them sort it out for you.
  7. From one mullatt to another....that's an awesome catch, particularly on a plastic. well done😀
  8. Thanks for the advice Hucho, I'll have to give it a go soon.
  9. Hucho, I've never fished that area. In normal water conditions is it a reasonable ramp and is it a safe area to leave your car and trailer? Would you expect to get the normal type fish up there...flathead, bream, tailor, jewies etc ?
  10. Only my thoughts, but I wonder if in later years Telwater (and other manufacturers) paint their hulls to hide the fact that build quality is not as good as it used to be. Plus, with everything these days it seems all about what looks shiny and flashy.
  11. Don't think so buddy...unfortunately not as simple as you may think. You just cant teach stupid.
  12. Great report and well done. Those beaches around there can produce, but can also unfortunately hold a lot of sand crabs which can be a nuisance.

    Insurance

Unfortunately mate I cant recommend a decent honest insurer, purely because I don't honestly believe they actually exist. I have been insuring houses, cars, boats, caravans etc etc for around 50 years and have learnt over the years exactly what you have experienced....you can delve into the policy docs as much as you like and think you have it all sorted and then as soon as you have a claim that may be a little out of the ordinary you find out the the real truth...that's not covered Good luck finding one and I would love to hear that someone has steered you in the right direction.
  14. Well done mate. Might also add that I was told last year that the speed restriction is 10 knots and no creating a wake by being on the plane. I agree, they certainly kept that well hidden, as I only found out by accident. Interesting too that Lake Ginninderra apparently now doesn't have water police presence.
  15. Maybe no-one's been in the area lately! Just a thought...try contacting the tackle shop at Burrill Lake.
  16. We were down your way a few weeks back and saw the new shops, very impressive! Its a shame that coastal places, like Narooma are going the same way as the big cities hey. Seems that half the population these days are looking for a punch up☹️
  17. Nowhere is safe these days unfortunately. Sad reflection how the world has gone.
  18. Unfortunately gumtree attracts a lot of scammers, muppets etc. If you can deal/ignore them you probably will get serious enquiries eventually, as its obviously a great package. I agree with others that Facebook marketplace is awesome..Ive successfully sold heaps of stuff there including cars.good luck
  19. Don't think its about being dumb necessarily, some wealthy people have complete disregard for rules, respect and anything else unfortunately. Its all about them and they believe they can do what they want....no-one else comes into their thinking.
  20. I personally believe that the Bushmans heavy duty (with 80% DEET) is your best option. But you could try the standard version (20% DEET) first I guess to see if it works for you. With sandflies I wouldn't bother with Aeroguard, its useless in my opinion.

    Boat Fuel.

Definitely replace the fuel (unless its a massive underfloor tank, which will present its problems with disposal). You havent mentioned what motor, but if it happened to be premixed 2 stroke.....absolutely ditch it. As mentioned by others, if heading outside particularly, how much worth do you put on your motors reliability and crews safety?
  22. They certainly are amazing birds, so stunning and intelligent.
  23. yep its not too bad along the river, near the road bridge and also definitely worth a try on the sheltered beach adjacent to the Barlings Beach caravan park (have caught some nice flatties there).
  24. Depending on how old the kids are, you could try around the Hanging Rock Boat Ramp area. Off the breakwall is an option but you will have to pick the tides as they rush through pretty quickly at times. The breakwater is pretty long so you will have lots of choice in where to try. You can also try Corrigans Beach, right at the Northern end of it where the breakwater ends. I have seen various species caught there including Flathead, Bream, Whiting & Luderick. That beach further down towards Batehaven Shops gets extremely shallow, so don't think its much chop. There is a wharf near the main bridge just opposite Woolworths that would be worth trying with the kids, there's always a few people trying their luck there. Don't know much about Casey's Beach, fishing wise. Don't think I've ever seen anyone fishing there, but its certainly a great little beach for kids, so you could chuck a line in after they've had a swim. Other places you could try are Tomaga River at Tomakin (which is probably 20 minutes South), and Durras either off the beach or in the lake (which is about 20 minutes North. Hope that helps. Good luck
