  1. Probably a bit late now but Id say the tangles are most likely due to the line having a lot of memory (as well as other factors). Those cheap combo's have very cheap line. At the very least, Id say replace the line (to a half decent one) if you are not going to purchase a new slightly more expensive cheap combo. You can fishing on a cheap combo and land fish, probably wont be too comfy and probably fruastrating to fish with. My daughters landed a 33cm trevally and 30cm flatty on one about the same price. Its just that I probably spend most of the time untangling the line for most of the time I had them out with me.
  2. I usually use 3.0's or 3.5 jigs. I change the colours around when one doesnt work after a period of time. Around bare Island you dont want to let it sink too far down as most of the places around there is snaggy. Ive lost many jigs there. Also change your jigging technique to a different pattern. Sometimes the same jig might work better running a different pattern.
  3. I find alot of people will say salted is better or frozen, from my personal experiences I find it depends on the fish that day. There have been days where they only take the salted and on other days the same species will only take the frozen. My usual ritual is that if I do not have salted pillies at home waiting to be used, or I'm low on them, I will buy a block of frozen pillies. At the end of the session I will have a fair bit left over. For those left over Ill salted them for future fishing. As their thawing, Ill collect the liquid and take the pillies that appear to be mangled then chop them up and place into the liquid to freeze (this is after thawing complete and before salting - PS, salted liquids does not turn into ice). The pillies that make it through is then salted for 24hrs. You can keep salted pillies outside but must make sure its its enclosed and in the shade at all times but I left mine in the fridge. End result, I have salted pillies on standby and a couple of burley bombs. Also I have made a slow release burley bomb. Basically a cut down PVC pipe with holes in it. Also use another piece of PVC pipe to make the cast to throw the liquid into before freezing. I believe everyone has their own way of doing it but all agree that is is far cheaper and have control when you do this yourself. I might consider some of the above methods to give a go as never thought of doing it in that way before.
  4. There's a few options for battery powered floats. One would be with the bite alarm, float is green when normal, then with some form of action is blinks red, other float with the battery type is a long narrow float with the LED light hole. Usually green but far brighter than glow stick, much easier to see. I wont post any links as I might be braking one of the rules for this forum. But Ill attached screenshot of it.

    Bare Island

There was a boat that overturn down Kurnell on Sunday. That's probably related to what you saw.
  6. Nice catch! I find pillies go too mushy when you refreeze them and then they thaw again. These days I salt the left over pillies. They hold on better the next time you use them.
  7. Also looks a bit like a boxfish. If it was hard like a rock then it is
  8. Its a fixed length ulta-wide lens on the 3+ (so no zoom). I think the 4 might be same.
  9. Also yes, the battery does not last long. Last weekend I did a time lapse, one minute apart on a single Battery to see how long it last. I got 130 photos out of it, so thats 2hrs 10mins battery life. This is off the 1180MaH battery. I would imagine video would drain faster
  10. The gopro site should give you what they recommend for their device. Best to get one of the options that they have tested and know will work at its optimum. In a lot of cases, just because the write speed is faster, this does not mean you will achieve that speed. As an example, if you have a 1080p DVD player, but your TV is only 720p, I don't think you will be watching 1080.
