  1. Yeh i think most of the newer shimanos do now. I have 2 spools with the symetre and 2 with my nexave which is an item only available to tackle world but its a nice smooth reel. I will have to get 6lb braid or 4 lb braid for the spare spool on the 2500 nexave
  2. Thank you I think deciding on the reel will be the hardest option for me to make. I may just stick it out for now with what I have as i dont want to spend to much up front on the full system when i have already spent alot on my current gear in the last few weeks. with the spools can you purchase extras for each size and brand? Just so that if its time to swap lines or types its easier? I currently only use mono but i do have braid on my 4000 spool at moment, just havnt used it yet.
  3. Rohit Thank you very much your your offer. I think I will have to take you up on this and come and have alook sometime in the next 2 weeks or so. I currently have a symetre 4000 and a nexave 2500 which are both very nice reels to use, i am thinking maybe the twin power for a reel....any other brands in same price range that anyone would recomend higher? I love the shimano stuff, havnt used anything else. Again thank you and i will speak to you very shortly
  4. Thank you Rodger I think it will be more used for live baiting and lures....to mostly used for jewfish and pelagics. I have other another 1 or 2 rods that i can use for the bream and flatties...just getting greedy haha....i guess i can swap the reel onto other rods and have quality reel and a few different ranges in rods I have decided i might try and have ago at the tournaments and thing sshortly also...this is why im just trying to work out what i may need and so on.... Hopefully there is a social in georges or the port hacking soon that i can have ago at and hopefully learn a few things and see if i can match some of the better fishos out there
  5. Hi everyone After abit of thinking and catching a few fish and really enjoying it I have decided I might go about purchasing a custom Rod...from either king rods or fishfinder. I want to be able to catch bread and butter type fish Bream, flatties and so on...but i want enough grunt to be able to pick up kingies, good size jewies, tuna and so on. I was thinking Reels: - Sustain - Twin power - Stella Now obviously stella is the highest cost and most likely the best...but would like some thoughts. Rods i am not to sure on, possibly king rod pelagic l or something like that, maybe some of you have these rods and can recomend what type and what type or reel, so i can work out a budget Thank you Brad

    Abu Garcia

Thanks mate I did see one of that site also. Cant find anything else on them, although they do look like the low profile baitcasters on the abu website....i would say its for freshwater application
  12. thanks stewey.....do you hold your rod in your left hand then or your right? I find i use both and sometimes strike with my right and then change hands so i can then wind...only thing i can see with right hand is maybe better feel if your right handed...but seems harder to wind
  13. Hi I have always had my reel arm on the right hand side of my rod, but have seen many pro anglers with it on the left and was wondering what the majority of you use? i tend to mix it up how i hold my rod and used both arms / hands.

  17. In the aquarium industry we call them "mono Angels" or "mono argents"
  18. Hi Reading the local paper and found to articles of interest. Number 1: On Tuesday stage 2 of a 3 stage restocking of Mulloway into Georges River took place with 1000's of Mulloway fingerlings introduced into the system Number 2: Pearl Farm in Botany Bay - Silver Beach Aquaculture has put an application into Sutherland shire council to start aquaculture of pearl in botany bay....this ould take up their current lease area where they have their mulloway currently Pretty interesting!! Would bring abit of money into the area having the pearl idustry, its the largest economic sea product in oz i think and 900million a year or something And for the mulloway!! just cant wait for them to start growing!
  19. Hi I tried cooking fresh bonito the other evening as i must say it was one of the nicest fish i have eaten and will not be using the bonnies as bait again! (unless i catch more than 1 or 2 in a session) I fillted and cut into 4 pieces and then covered in cajun spices.....we then were ment to beer batter the fish but drank all the beer so used normal batter and then deep fried....VERY NICE!!
  20. Could have something to do with the extra bit of height in the tide that comes with it...also if you have fished anywhere at night with a flood light you will find alot of creatures are attracted to it....thus saying that the moon reflecting on the water brings more creatures out or to the surface which in return gives predatory species better opportunity to have a meal?

    Hey

Should have let me known mate..i was fishing around today until around 12ish...lilli pilli for an hour and relos for rest of the day..not mcuh luck though, saw massive bream couldnt get them though
  24. Hi Went for a quick lure fish on saturday evening at relos pontoon...picked up a 34cm tailor which was nice...saw him jump threw it near and let him do the rest....cast other side and then somebig fish jumped for about10secs (no idea what they were, either kingies or salmon i would say) didnt get my lure in fast enough though to cast and a boat went past and that was the end of them This morning (sunday morning) went down to lilli pill baths and again used lure trying to get bonito or kingies. Saw something huge jump once off near the boats to the right early on and then nothing for the next hour os so of casting...cast into a boats wake and i was off! felt like a good size kingy and it went like a bullet and then died in the ass as most bonito do! followed by 1 other bonnie up close and then that was it...one sole hit for the morning and one fish so 100% sucess rate but no others!! I saw again alot of bait fish around but not alot of big ones. I am heading down relos pontoon tomorrow morning early and going to berley like crazy and hopefully this will attract some nice kingies as it did for abit of time a few weeks ago. Im going to use fresh caught squid that i froze and a frozen bonnie for bait and also my metal lures.
