Just a quick report from the weekend. Computer flipped out lost EVERYTHING Any way Saturday we fished Long Reef a scored my PB Silver (2kg). Sunday we fished North Head and I scored my first black (1.2kg) and a 37cm bream. Heaps of pesky Leather jackets but had a good time anyway. Cheers Wigg

Hi Torch Well done on the jew. I went Pig hunting agian. Picked up a 2 kilo silver on Saturday and a 1.2 kilo black and 37cm bream on Sunday. Having computer problems and cant load photos. Cheers Wigg

My head hurts The more I look at rods and reels the more difficult it is to make a decision. Originally I thought a baitrunner But when I put them on a rod thery felt big and bulky. Then I played with reels down to a 3000 size. Now I am thinking an overhead. I have 2 Abu 7000s and love em. I like being able to put them in freespool with the ratchet on and peel line off if needed. Now I am leaning toward a TLD 15 with a 7foot rod with a soft tip but with plenty of grunt. Someone shoot me and put me out of my misery. Wigg

Hi Le Pasha Where did you get the King Mack? I cant find it on the net. I will mostly baitfishing with it. I was thinking of the baitrunner but it is a bit heavy and bulky. I was leaning towards a 4000 Twinpower Roylo I may have to have a look at the Magnum butt. Cheers Wigg

Hi Roylo I intend on fishishing 20+lb braid but I am in 12 - 15m of water usually. I need to fish as light as possibles but want to hunt 80cm+ kings and big reds. what do you reckon? Cheers Wigg

After being amped up by a fishing DVD I am going thru my gear and feel it is time to upgrade some of it. I will be fishing out of my yak around the Northern Beaches and do have a downrigging bomb. What sort of reel and line is going to serve me best? I have 2 Abu 7000 s (15 and 20lb) that have served me well in the past. I have a TLD 25 combo with 35lb that hasnt been christened yet. I am thinking of seeing Tony for a rod and buying a Baitrunner 6500. I am very reluctant to use braid on the overheads for fear of cutting off a finger or two. I am planning on chasing the 80cm plus models. What does everybody recommend? Cheers Wigg

Unfortunately or fortunately this is a good thing. If it were a dream ramp to use the area would be smashed by every man and his dog. There are some quality fish taken very close in but it comes back to risk and reward. I normally drop in at least three times a week and there is always carnage. Even for the most seasoned users. I too have had my share of troubles there in boats and of late my kayak and that is before you even try to find a fish. Warringah council does not even exist. It is in the hands of administrators. Forget it. No fish is worth it. I fish from a kayak, outside. I had an incident a couple of weeks ago. On the way out had a few hiccups, got to my spot and turned around and came home. A paddle that should take 20mins took over an hour and all I could here was my wifes voice "be careful you have a baby girl waiting for you at home" I am glad I turned and headed for home. Conditions worsened. I have caught some quality fish in these conditions but if you are not comfortable as I wasnt, head for home. No drama. At least you live to tell the story. Browns is a long way from home. I fish only 1.5kms from home. You did the right thing. Stay safe. Cheers Wigg

Does anyone know about lead lining? I was out at Long Reef this morning and was watching in amasement at how easy these guys do it. King after king. Apart from using livies is there any other trick? What depth etc. Surely I can use some of what they are doing to catch some kings. I was using fresh squid on a downrigger and caught nothing. Does anybody know? Cheers Wigg
