  1. Well done on spending quality father and son time together. That lucky shirt works a treat too
  2. Stewie, Have been looking forward to this report for a while. PB pikes and redfin on your first session and tackle testing on the Seine - awesome! I've just returned from Malaysia and Singapore (no fishing done) and tagged along with my brother to his local shooting range for a bit of shooting too. A different and quite enjoyable activity but I think I'll stick to fishing as my pastime - I prefer the finesse experience of using light lines and thin rods in fishing rather than the brute force of an exploding shell from a gun!
  3. Good to have you back Roberta. Didn't you sneak out for fish in the UK? Look forward to reading your upcoming yak adventures again.
  4. great report, amazing fishing. Sounds like an awesome experience. Very jelly ....
  5. Thanks for the kind words guys. You're right Stewie, time spent fishing with the love of your life is priceless, especially when the fishing is hot. Basscatcher, it was a little cool in the morning but my wife threw off her bright RTA jacket after getting her workout with the fishing!
  6. G'day fellow Raiders. Fishing on Father's day has been a bit of a family tradition since I caught my first fish on a soft plastic lure seven years ago. This year was a bit different with my eldest son out of action due to an ankle injury. My youngest son decided to make a sacrifice and stay home with his brother so that I could take my lovely wife out fishing! That was my Father's Day present as I rarely get the opportunity to take my wife out as she normally lets the kids or her dad take priority over her. We launched just on sunrise at Kurnell and did a slow troll along the north heads when I saw a large flock of seagulls at a distance. A huge bust up was occurring at the near horizon. By the time I had unhooked my hard bodies lures and tied on metal slices the boil had made its way to us! It was awesome being in the middle of a feeding frenzy and soon enough my wife was hooked up. After a long fight (the drag was a little under done) she had her first Aussie Salmon in the boat. We had drifted off a little during the fight but managed to find the school again and it was game on! With some coaching on her pump and wind technique, she played her fish and had salmon no. 2 in the boat. She had so much fun it was great to watch. She's got a healthy respect for the Aussie Salmon now she's tangled with it. I did manage to get one and a couple of trevally later at the Towra flats but the day belonged to my wife. I had one of best Father's Days in a while and we finished off with a great family fish dinner that night. Hope everyone else had a fishy Fathers Day too ...
  7. That's a great story. Wife happy, fishing itch scratched and a feed for the family!
  8. Great stuff EPboy. That's a great EP and looked like a beautiful winter's day fishing man. Just out of curiosity, what depths were you fishing at?
  9. Grandad, That's a real monster you've got there. The Lake does hold quite a few of them. Well done!
  10. Jani, That's a great fishing session. You've converted another angler to the exciting world of soft plastic fishing. Those are some amazing fish for a first timer!
  11. Hey - sounds like great fun. Nothing like a foreigner braining the local species with squidgy soft plastics . Very urban setting similar to fishing Sydney Harbour from the shore. Have a safe rest of your holiday and hope you'll be able to squeeze in more fishing time ...
  12. Great report. You guys got a 'hot bite'. I love seeing how fishing is done elsewhere. Maybe you should try some blade lures as well. I,d love to see Stewy post a report when he's there ...
  13. Great fish there guys. You always seen to be able to pull a jewie out of the Georges, Stewie. That salmon would have put up a great fight!
  14. Congrats on the new PB Stewie. Thought the rains would have made things difficult but I forgot - skilled anglers can always catch fish no matter what the conditions eh!
  15. Great looking bream there - a double hook-up too! Those Gulp worms are one of my favourite lures too ...
  16. Ditto. I live nearby and don't give the Lakes enough of a go. Well done Stewie and Nat. Looks like really good Bream and EPs too. Very jelly ....
  17. Whoa. That's a great fish! Going to be hard to beat that in future! Bet that made the trip for you. Pity Royce did not get any - I'm sure it was a team effort capture after all the guidance from Royce.
  18. That's a great EP man. Can see you've improved your skill in leaps and bounds and you're putting in the time. You'll be pro in no time and sharing your skills with everyone else on this great forum ...
  19. Poddy, you've got to give that boat of yours more of a workout! Looks like the midday session was enjoyed by everyone. Great to see the kids having a good time and the Bay producing the goods.
  20. Well done on the comp result Ray. 3 days of hard fishing on an awesome boat would have been awesome. Sorry about the metery that got away. Looking forward to more pics ....
  21. That's a Hacking mini -GT man! What a monster. I love catching trevally so I can only imagine the fight you had with that beast. Well done on your other captures as well
  22. Thanks for the comments guys. Am starting to enjoy a bit of sweetwater fishing now plus there's now a wider range of tackle and lures to get into Car's all fixed now - faulty radiator replaced. Just need the opportunity to go again!!
  23. Hello Fellow Raiders, Quick report - took the kids and in-laws to Lake Windamere again to chase some Golden Perch over the Anzac Day weekend since we had some success during the New Year period. We put in 3 sessions at the Lake and managed 3 fish only this time. All fish were caught within 3 hours of sunrise. I had read an article in a recent fishing magazine regarding using bibbed hardbodied lures to fish the edge of weed beds for Goldens so I decided to give it a go this time. First fish caught on a floating hardbodied lure The lure that did the damage was an old Rapala lure with its original trebles, possibly thirty years or older. It used to belong to my dad and I found it amongst his old fishing stuff recently. It accounted for a bigger fish the next day. This fish fell to an olive green double blade spinnerbait. Was happy and sad this trip - happy I caught fish, sad no one else in the family caught fish. Brought my wife out too hoping to get her onto some fish but no joy. Happy that my dad's old lure caught fish. Sad that my father in law who was the top angler the last trip did not catch any this time. Had radiator problems on the way home too. Had to get towed from Lithgow to home. Thank goodness for NRMA Premium Care! We rode the truck with the Prado on the truck and the boat behind all the way home. The kids enjoyed it! On a final note, the kids also managed to go out panning for gold in one of the local creeks and found a tiny flake of gold (so tiny it flew away in a gust of wind!). Ha Ha! Mudgee has a lot of GOLD to offer! (fish, honey and real gold!!)
  24. Great to see Mr and Mrs Swordfisherman on the water! Conditions at the Lakes looks perfect. Looks like Donna is definitely the better angler!
  25. cjchen, I was at the western side. Extensive sand and weed beds. Can be shallow during the low tides but you'll find boats and kayaks close to the shore of the National Park at high tide. Just on first light was good for me but if you're in a kayak, you should be able to sneak up on the fish at any time. Good luck!
