  1. On another note I went down to the boat ramp this morning up here in Port and there were great Dolphin fish frames in the water near the filleting table so they must have got some yesterday up here as well. But I bet they weren’t on Jet skis.

Weather has turned so no one will be going out to chase them in the next few days at least.

  2. Ahhhhhhh, Those were days hey Noel.  Also if you owned a station wagon you left the rear top half up (it was split) and it would suck in all the exhaust fumes.
My first car, XR 67 Falcon never had a heater.

Tell the kids these days and they wouldn’t believe you. But we happy in those days. 😀

  3. I’m with you  @noelm But I suppose that’s what’s happens when you get more “Senior” you end up with many a story from over the years.

My problem is I’m terrible at typing and not a wordsmith who can convey the story to do it justice. I suppose sitting around a camp fire the context of my stories make up for my bad telling of it.

“ I Dips Me Lid” to you Wazza.

  4. Good on you Neil by making the jump. I also took delivery of a COW and my wife hates it when on cruise control it self corners. She reminds me of Dotty out of Miss Fisher not trusting technology.  ( Miss Fisher. A great Australia Murder Mystery)

Many years ago a good mate bought a new Hilux, the mechanic said it would last X amount of Kilometres, he said great, I can live to 109 before I need a new car. 😀

All the best with you new purchase mate.

  5. Not a Grumpy Old Man Rant @noelm but it’s the way of the world now training us to accept stuff like that.

Up here I try to support a smaller hardware store when I can as they are more personalised. The other day I went into the smaller store to get a couple of bags of potting mix. I carried one out to the car as it was parked out on the street, then turned around to walk back into and get the other one but the fellow behind the counter was just about to my car with the other one.
    Old school stuff.

  6. Sounds like you put you one day off to good use there Dave plus  a 45cm Big Eye is a great fish and certainly given you some hurry up on that gear. 👍

My Daughters volunteers for Head Space and they had something on at Wauchope Tec last week so my wife and I had lunch at the boat ramp there, really nice day and there were a total of 2 boats out. Bahaaaaaaa. I can’t get used to the difference between Sydney ramps and up here, it’s so civilised.

  7. So I wandered down to the "Gone Fishing Day" at Port and it was really well done with Maritime, Fisheries and The Recreational Fishing trust represented.

It seemed RFT had a stack of small rods and were rigging them up so people could have a fish off the Wharf, also volunteers were helping out on the Wharf as well with bait ETC.

Also there was plenty of stickers and support for Boaters and fishers.

My only thought was maybe not the last Sunday of School holidays but the middle Sunday.

  8. Hi @nal would you have a photo of just the fish, for me its hard to tell as its a Juvenile but if you had a better shot of the fish itself showing the Lateral Line that would be great.

    For what I can see it's a Spanish/Narrow Barred.

Happy for someone to have a shot.

  9. That is very sad about the boat capsizing causing a loss of life.
Up NW where do go, I have had Humpbacks swim aggressively towards the boat. Now my take on this is not the female with the calf but a young male who wants the female to himself and we pose a threat.
