  1. Hi JustinP was it were we went that afternoon, that little bay near a restaraunt? you where getting a few follows on that little popper you showed us. cheers
  2. you know the answer 1 when I finish the front deck (2009 probably) 2 when we get back from snowboarding in Japan (can you fly fish in Japan? maybe I should sneak the loomis in the snowboard bag).
  3. took the wife and a mate over the mountains for a day of trouting over the break. Left home at 4.30 and arrived at the river at around 7.30 and comenced the set up of gear and the walk. Spotted plenty of fish but had no luck at first, walked up to a larger pool where more risers where spotted and the wife nearly picked up 2 fish on HB lures. Couple of minutes later I saw a nice rainbow swim past my feet which spotted my black wooly bugger resting on the bottom abot 20 feet in front of me. 1 small strip is all it took and he darted over and scoffed it down, then the airiel display started. after a few runs and a few minutes I landed the trout and man was I pleased with myself. My second trout on fly ever. We saw a big tiger snake swimming across the river not far up stream from us which started to float down stream towards us (we couldn't get out of the water quick enough). later on thetr where some small trout caught (keyring size) and that was it for the day. We noticed larger trout seemed to be butting the HB lures but not biting them seemed like they were chasing them off. Any way it was great to get out and give it ago, will head up agian soon. Have pics but can't load them for some reason. will try again soon.
  4. It was that long ago I can't remember but i was up there just in Dec 07 for a weekend and there were some fish to be caught lots of small risers and I managed my first trout on fly. good water lots of snakes. cheers
  5. she is a little show off already she has nearly out fished the 3 of us the other night does she take customers out on charters? maybe she can teach us a few tricks
  6. yeh the blindfold method and he was driving the rainbow was further up the other way were the bank is high and bushy I had to bash into the bank and slide down into the water and then walk up a bit to get in front of a little rapid. the strength of the water flow was quite strong and the footing slippery impossible to fly fish
  7. maybe you should put your hands on a diet and make them smaller so the trout look bigger
  8. went for a day trip over the Blue Mountains on Sunday with a rookie trout fishraider left home at 4.00 am for the 3.2 hour drive got to destination X and started up the track the rookie couldn't believe the awesome scenery and the fact that there was fish availble for the taking after seeing a few risers and a few leaps we both could not belive how easy this was going to be. after an hour of trying an no luck at all the rookie finally hooks his first trout of his life a little brown we contiued on through the bush and tried some other areas that looked promising but no luck on the return we saw a big brown rolling in the water sufrace and then disappearing again, he did this a few times but was not interested in what we had to offer. I waded out in the middle of the river and cast my little HB above a small rapid and worked it through and saw a lovely big rainbow bolt out of nowhere and smash it a few times but no bloody hook up after a quick feed off down river we went for a flick and on my first cast I hooked a little angry brown after another hour tramping throught the bush and trying likely looking spots we decided to call it for the day and start the long trip home. wil be back when the water has cleaned up and slowed down a little. cheers
  9. Looks like they are all HOOKED! wait till they start getting in their cars and all they can smell is Berkely juice coming from their car boots.
  10. yeh theres been heaps of lizards and good size ones too but I need some of those nice long runs of the breambos wonder how long we will have to wait has anyone seen it like this before?
  11. yeh we had some knuckleheads wakeboarding in a 4 knot zone yesterday send bow waves smashing into the sand banks tools
  12. Hey all raiders, I was down the local haunt yesterday having a late flick with a couple of other raiders. We were discussing the lack of bream at the moment. Curious to see what other are noticing at this time of year. Last year at this time we were constantly getting smashed by good size critters. Is it the rain? Plenty of lizards though but no breambos and next to no whiting Maybe they are sick of Berkleys
  13. I'm getting itchy for another trip up and over the mountains Has anyone been hunting trout in the last couple of weeks?
  14. Yeah she had the pseed right down her gob had to leave it in her gettin itchy for a trip over the mountains again BM how bout you?
  15. yeh it was a good size but I have dropped 2 bigger ones that that around that area.
  16. Yeh it was a beaut. I just took my time had the drag set right and enjoyed the envy of me mate as we waited for our fist look at it. It went for a few nice bursts and then that typical heavy flattie cruise up and down the bank followed by some headshakes on the top of the water and then some more runs and bursts. bit dodgy dragging up on the sand but all was OK at the end. cheers
  17. Pulled in this nice lizard the other day. My PB at approx 72 cm (mearured on my rod and checked at home later). Caught on 4lb leader with a pseed berk minow. Put up a great fight and took about 5 mins to bring ashore. Me mate could not believe it as we had both not caught anything.
  18. Maybe it was to young to have any colour yet It still was fun though
  19. I fish there alot and it runs very hot and very cold I caught my PB bream there at 46 and the brother scored one at around the 44 the same day it was last summer on an overcast day mid tide.
  20. I scored a screamer down there a few weeks back not sure how long but it was 3 lengths of my snowbee wading boots I thought it was a snag at first people yakking past must have thought it was a shark with all the white wash it was shaking up awesome
  21. yeh thats a nice lizard you got theres plenty down there sometimes they play and sometimes they don't I get further up around sugarloaf point and flick the odd sp and even get the fly gear out I was down there the other night in the rain wading around and scored a couple of little breams on fly you can't beat the camos down the LCR nothing else comes near them
  22. see if this works this was the first one I landed! not big but it sure pulled some drag
  23. Hey BM, it sure was a lot of fun and a really nice place. Can't wait to get back asap what happen to the pic I sent of the first little fellow I scored, didn't it come through? Just had the electric motor delivered so will have to give it a run up the NR soon for some bass fun! cheers
  24. It will produce but we normally keep it quiet as we don't wont a heaps of dudes down there fishing it out. I will probable see you down there in the afternoons as I live within walking distance form there. we have scored flatties up to 55cm there but normally a bit smaller with the occasional bream and whiting. the thing I am keen on doing is the mullet on fly down there, in the summer there are heaps of them. give me a pm when your heading down next and I might meet you down there. cheers
