  1. were you around the corner on the mud/sand flats. I caught my biggest flattie on sat morn up near figtree bridge over 60cm's i tied the area you where at about a fortnight ago and only pulled in 1 little flattie in the summer I fish there every 2nd day after work and normally go pretty good although the toed fish are little turds that my local spot cheers
  2. only a few risers that i saw there where fish there but they where very cautious though following lures down low from the shadows etc the wind was pretty bad and there was a lot of wind rippled water surface, I don't know if that puts the fish of. will try again we did OK last year in the summer (sometimes) cheers BM
  3. got back from Fish River on Wednsday totally fishless after the wind decided to turn up it was time to put the fly rod down. walked up and down the river dodging brown, tiger and red belly snakes over the 5 days up there I must have walked about 15 klms up and down and spotted quite a few trout but nothing seemed to tempt the little dears into a good hit. I had on 2 occasions 12" rainbow smash a celta and then a little gold HB so hard that they came about a foot out of the water putting on an impressive show but unhooked then selfs. and then on wednsday morrning about 7. am I spotted a 14" brown in about 8" of water about 12 feet away just hanging in a sun patch I carefully got my dry red tag fly with brown nymph dropper and managed to get it about 10" in front of his nose and I know he saw it. I slowley stripped the nymph back at about an inch at a time and watched as the brown started to follow, surley this is going to be my first ever trout on fly. He was getting closer to the nymph making little lunges at it when I stripped it and the let it stop, then disaster, the nymph picks up a submerged stick and locks on. the fish is so close now he can see me as well. I slowley pull the stick in and he takes off into the deeper water in front of me. I free the nymph from the stick and look around to see the little bugger back down in the same spot in the sun. same as before he spots the nymph as it drops in front of him, i start the strips again only this time he is a little more cautious but follows all the way till i can't strip any more line then he cruises of into the deep water again. I'm waiting for him to turn up in his same spot but this doesn't happen because as I focuss in the shallow water right in front of me I see the little bugger at my feet just about a foot away and I swear he is looking at me. he so close there is no chance to cast anything the only thing that might have worked would have been a spear. anyway then the bloody wind starts again so I bid him fairwell as I head off back to camp. I have to catch one sooner or later but these little bugger are hard work. no one seem to be geeting much on the long weekend that I spoke to. might have been the wind. cheers
  4. Can you show some pics of the lures you are using I wont to give that area you metioned a go when I get back from the trouting holiday cheers BM
  5. the tiny snaps I use for flatties bream whiting trout etc are size 000 you can get them from a place that start with the letter A and has the same name as a snake they hold good size fish 48 cm bream 50 cm brown t both putting up great fights the brother caught a good size trev on one as well the only issue I have is they as pretty hard to see and you will need long nose pliers to work them some times from what I have seen they don't mess up the action and I have caught heeps using them great to go from SP to HB's and back again cheers

  14. Hi raiders Is anyone catching any trout anywhere in Sydney area at all. Is LL, LW, TCD the only spots to go to while the rivers are closed. I know there is the 6 hour walk in to the Kowumg? but is there anything else I can try.
  15. Hey Trout boy I was wading around in the water near where you had your ute parked, that was nargse 1 walking around in green. we got zip (as usual) we did see a few in the water (spooked). the guys that fished the rock area got a nice rainbow but that was it. we went to TCD it was blowing a gail up there and there were white caps on the waves. a guy that was leaving there when we arrived had a nice rainbow in his bag but that was it. went down to fish river to show nargse 1 where the action happens in the open season dropped in at the wentworth falls lake for a look on the way home looks pretty small does it fish any good?
  16. yeh same here just learning the art myself, haven't bagged a trout on fly yet but have scored a few on tassies, rapallas and little sp's very keen to get the first see how we go on Sunday if we get up there we will try LW first at sun up and then move to TCD at around 9.am where do think the good spots are at TCD I have walked all around it and the only places i have had hits has been off the wall, and that is a no go spot there dosen't seem to have much structure to fish around or any noticable weed beds any offerings? cheers
