  1. On the map it shows a Morong Falls fire trail that leads off Kanagra Walls road, this trail heads down towards the river. Has anyone been down this fire trail? Looks like a 350 meter walk from the end of the fire trail. cheers
  2. Thanks Covanova. are the falls a long way down from the crossing I have just ordered some topo maps to look into it further cheers
  3. How far down from the Kowmung fire trail crossing is it? Or is there another way in?
  4. Your right Matt I hear about the good old days when the water was high, I also hear of packs of cruiser that can be spotted from up high. the snowies would be nice however the price of gas is a major deterant these days not to mention the time to get down and back for a quick flick. cheers Jamie
  5. I been hearing a lot about the false spawners at TCD and how I goota get some of the action. The only problem no one seems to know when the right time and conditions are to go have a flick. I have been to TCD about 8 times now and have scored zip. Any insight fellow petrol burners. cheers
  6. We went up to TCD and go there at sun up. the 3 of us battled the westerly and fished our way around to the quarry and back again. zip, duck egg and nada was caught we saw a couple of blokes on the other side that caught a smally and they made their way around past us and down towards the wall were they pulled out another better fish. Us there stil nothing. Highlight of the trip was watching a massive eagle hovering above the water for about 20 mins and then diving down a pulling what looked to be 50+ brown out of the water (smart arse). then it was off to Lyell (should have gone straight home) another 2 hours of wind and no fish. A couple of blokes went past in a boat and we asked them how they went, between 4 blokes they had 2 fish all day. It was then time to hit the highway. Maybe next time. Hey Stanno what RFS branch are you mates from?
  7. Some land based Lyell is looking the better option any opinions on this team cheers
  8. Get back to work and earn some money so you can buy that new reel and 5# line for your new rod. you may need it on Sat
  9. Hi all, Has anyone been up to TCD in the last week or so and had any luck? If so what methods were used. Thinking about tracking up there on Sat for a day of fun/torture. Any info would be great. Cheers
  10. Now the season is closed where can I go for some more river fishing around central tablelands. I know the Wollondilly is open but I think some areas of the Kowmung is open but it's not clear where abouts along with parts of the cox's, the 6 foot track may be above my health level. can anyone help out here. cheers
  11. Bloody work When you get to the bottom of the road the leads to the water where do you head from there. I saw some pics you guys posted a while ago on Farmers and the water looked small and shallow like a feeder stream. Is that an area you walk to once you get down to the water when I was there it all looked like big deep dam water although the water went around to the right and out of site. Any tips cheers Matt
  12. Hey boys We are heading up the Fish River for 5 days on Thursday night camping at the F R reserve Hope we will get some speckleis With all this rain I am expecting the waters will be higher and faster than usual if the river is to hard to fish might head out to Lyell and or TCD for a flick How do you get to Farmers creek, is it at the end of the road with the white steel gate, do you walk from there. If anyone is crusing past drop in a say hello. cheers Jamie
  13. how much many do you not want to spend? I was like you and bought a cheapy of ebay and that was just the start of it all. I know have 4 rods, 4 reels, a million flies, waders, boots and spend every other weekend out west chasing trout that I hardly ever catch. And love it For bass fishing I would think a 4 or 5 weight rod at 8-8'6 foot long should be OK, this size rod could be used for trout as well as bream, flathead, whiting etc. I have seen gillies combos in BCF for around $160. that looked OK. Make sure you rod is a medium action rod not a slow action rod. Just my opinion good luck
  14. Wavedancers are great me and the mrs bought one each I have a finder on mine along with anchor, nav lights, paddle hold, lure retriever and 3 rod holders. If you ring wild water psorts in Putney and speak with Jen she can arrange a demo paddle. they were great to deal with. cheers Jamie
  15. I know it's probably cheating but I have used a size 14 hook and half a camo sand worm on my 5 weight Loomis and caught flathead, bream and whiting on the flats near my place. Hey it worked. I have had days in the same spot flicking baited breaths, clousers, charlies etc and caught zip. cheers
  16. all our wifes are great mine loves fishing and camping, drinking beer and brewing her own she just sold her 748 Ducati late last year and has just bought a kayak to fishing in. we where up that way on the weekend at Tarana and caught plenty although it wasn't snowing and the fish were not that big. we managed 2 browns at around the 54 cm mark but all the other (and there were a few) were around the 25 cm mark and mainly rainbows cheers
  17. thats where we were done near the white steel gate we were having a flick down there had a decent brown I think follow up a rapalla slit lure hit the end of it and take off at my feet there were rsers everywhere out deeper cheers Matt
  18. hey gents where is farmers creek ? the back drop looks like the far side of Lyell where we were on sunday afternoon cheers
  19. I will start doing some research soon on this The mornings and evenings are starting to get cold I was up at Lake Lyall on sunday and there where trout sising every where, the kayak would have been great to get out to them if I hac it but the water was freezing.
  20. Thanks Marty looks great Another question, what winter clothing do you use on the kayak I have had a look and some gear looks bloody exspensive Any tips Cheers
  21. Hey Marty what type of lighting you running on your kayak? I have just bought one and I am starting to deck it out with all the gear. With the short days now I want to have a go down the LCR after work but want to hang a lite off it for saftey reasons Any tips? Jamie.
  22. Hey Roberta it was me "Yes Dear" that got the yaks got to start decking them out now cheers
  23. We were at the first xing next to the Geehi Hut we had 2 red kayaks on the trailer right next to the xing you are right those river pebbles are hard going but the water was so clear I reckon I must have spooked every fish in the river with all the slipping and spluttering through the water I was amazed at some of the deep pools that didn't hold fish but when you see kids chucking rocks in them you can figure it out. Maybe an off peak trip next time. cheers Marty
  24. Hi Marty, I got back from Geehi last night and after 6 days down there got next to zip we camped next to the river crossing and saw a couple of spinners heading out on dusk each arvo was that you? best i could manage was 2 10 inch rainbows down stream from the crossing 1 12 inch rainbow up past the road bridge and few little tackers I did manage to spook a large brown twice that was on the far bank in the pool upstream from the xing whilst retrieving a lure from a tree. The 12 inch ranbow was actually caught by my darling wife after I pointed out where to flick here lure (if I had got there first it would have been mine). we tried all the river up and down from the crossing. the stream under Bogon bridge the geehi walls trail area down stream the Murry 2 Dam on Kayaks the Kahncoban River the middle stream on the way up to Geehis Dam Where abouts did you go cheers And Roberta we now have Kayaks but not the Hobies we could aford them But are starting to enjoy cruising around and fishing in tight places
  25. thanks for the info I will have plenty of time to cruise around and check out some good spots thanks for the info anglers
