  1. That's great to hear. I've got three different coloured weed flies and not been able to land a fish yet. No problems on the weed but the fly hasn't had any luck yet. I've only tried fishing off the rocks a few times and no real success, too inexperienced I think!
  2. Lovely work and great to see the luderick so healthy and fat looking.
  3. It was a great day and lots to be said about the relaxing and regenerative benefits of drifting along with the current and catching fish! Haha! The berley bag split and in my excitement the pellets fell out. I didn't mind as I'd landed a fish!!
  4. G'Day Raiders, Headed out today in a tinny down the Woronora River from Como. Armed with some dodgy old refrozen prawns and frozen squid, the sun on my face and no wind at all it was a perfect start to the morning. Lauched just before low tide and cruised down towards Bonnet Bay. Stopped there to drift along with the current and threw some bait out the back and flicked soft plastics up on the sandbanks. I was hoping for a few flatties having had some luck there before, but my SP skills seemed to have deserted me today. Not that they are very advanced in the first place! I was also nervous about leaving my rod with the bait on it untended as I flicked so soon reverted to two rods, both with bait. Having previously lost a rod overboard not far from here! Prawns seemed to be doing the damage with lots of bites when finally I land a small whiting. This was the first of a few but all undersize but quite aggressive. Finally managed to land a bream but just undersize so back he went to fight another day. Next up was a surprise as my rod loaded up and a fight that was stronger than the bream but not like a flathead. I brought the fish in and surprise, surprise its a luderick/blackfish caught on squid! I know that they sometimes eat prawns but this was a first for me. I struggle to catch them on weed in areas where they school but catching one using squid in the middle of the river was unusual. But it was a solid fish and a keeper which will be dinner tonight. Next up were more bream with two decent sized. I kept one to go with the luderick and released the other one. After that it slowed down with just more small whiting and an undersize snapper. So it was time to head back to the marina and head home having had an enjoyable morning and landing some keeper fish. Usually I'm land based so getting out like this was fantastic even if the return was modest!
  5. Great work adamski. I always love hearing blackfish reports.
  6. Great work! Been trying the Como Bridge myself recently and nothing like your success. That snapper is a winner!
  7. Hey GreyNurse, Good report and well done on the clean up. I fish there often during the day, gentlemen's hours, and often am tidying up as well. It's so flat that a lot of debris must get blown into the water. It's amazing the variety of fish that are there. Hard to catch a squid as you note. If you see a someone down there on the ramp end, fixated on a pencil float and looking dolefully at the luderick avoiding his weed, it's probably me! Come say hello!
  8. What a great morning! Lovely bag of fish there and lots of good eating. I was down at Wally's Wharf having a go for luderick and only managed a couple of undersize models. Weather was great to be out fishing.
  9. Great work boys, what a fantastic day!
  10. Lovely work! Great to see so many healthy looking fish.
  11. OMFG!!!! Now that is a horse! Great job.
  12. I took my daughters out in Sans Souci to pump nippers and have a flick around for whiting. They were so excited and looking forward to the fishing and nipper hunting. Then one of the girls had something "sting" her ankle and what could have been a fun session with some fish ended up being cut short after about 30 minutes!!!
  13. I'd love to think so blackblackfish!! Its such a thrill when you see that float disappear....I generally strike too soon as I can't stand the suspense! Have just ordered some weed flies online (Fat Pete's) so looking forward to giving them a try. It was delicious (so was the luderick!!). I generally slice the flanks so that the flavour penetrates the flesh, three slices on each side. I then use ginger, garlic and lemon juice to pour over and slice some lemons to lie on either side of the fish. I sometimes put spring onion on as well. Then wrap up in foil and cook for 20 mins or so on 180. When I'm fishing everyone that comes down and talks to me uses that word. I don't as even though it is not meant in a racial or negative way, the word itself has negative connotations and is obviously derived from a derogatory term.
  14. D'oh!!! Too busy defending myself that I didn't check the photo!! Yep, it's a bream [emoji5]️ Here's the luderick!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Awesome lizard there and glad to hear she's off to produce lots more for you to catch in the years ahead!
  16. I went out on Sunday afternoon to catch the tide change with fellow raider, CaptLukey, in his boat. Drifted the Georges River and tried a few holes and only managed one flattie and one bream, both snagged by CaptLukey. Water temperature was 24.5 and quite clear and very pleasant conditions.
  17. Hi Guys, It's a luderick I promise!! [emoji1] When they're gutted and scaled then cooked they do look like bream. Will have to do the before and after shots next time!!! Couldn't take a picture whilst on the rocks as I'd dropped him a few times and nearly lost him! Popped him in the keeper net and he fell straight through as I'd damaged the net in the prop of a tinnie. schembo they taste really nice. Firm white flesh and not too "fishy" tasting. You just have to bleed them and ensure you remove the black stomach lining. Make good fillets when they're 30cm plus as well.
  18. Hi Raiders, Popped down to the rock ledges in Cronulla yesterday, armed with some fresh weed and high hopes! Fished either side of the high tide hoping for a lively blackfish session. Well, three hours later I'd managed one keeper (28cm) and a smaller model returned to fight another day. A few other fishos down there had similar results. Not enough for an entire meal, but a nice accompaniment! Fingers crossed for a little whiting bash today if the planets align... fiveflies
  19. I've only been going after them for the past six months or so. Had some success down there with a few nice 40cm models but still learning. Recently (including today) they've all been undersize and/or very timid. I'll PM you the weed details.
  20. Hey mate, No blackies of legal size. Lots down there but not interested in my cunning drifts!
  21. Hi Dogbox, Good report and nice catch. I think I met you when you came back to the ramp, I was fishing for luderick down the end and you offered me some fish. Nice to meet a fellow raider even if we didn't realise!
  22. Great work. Love a bit of stinky chicken as bait!
  23. Ahhhhhh, but 50m in which direction?!?!?!? [emoji1]
  24. I contacted Edi via Facebook messenger but he's not read or replied. His website from Facebook also seems to no longer exist. Maybe he's shutdown?
  25. I sent your guy an email but never heard back. Hooked up with another company and on the second day they wanted to take me further out but I didn't have the time unfortunately. Next time!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
