  1. Lovely work and great to see the luderick are still around for the catching.....
  2. Great work and nice fish. Never had any luck on the whiting with lures, only nippers...will have to persevere!
  3. Hi Raiders, Took a tinny out yesterday from Como into the Georges river. Drifted around in the Georges and Woronora rivers for no result. Had a paternoster rigged up with squid and chicken but no takers. Also flicking soft plastic and a metal about but no interest at all. Moved back to Georges and the rail bridge and anchored upstream of one of the pylons. Managed to catch plenty of undersize tailor on the metal that seemed to be hanging around under the bridge, nothing on the paternoster. Moved upriver a little towards the sand flat and began catching more undersize tailor on chicken and a couple of bream on prawns. Was bringing in my hook to check the bait and realised I had a fish on. Nice little fight and there is a lovely flattie on the end of the hook. I'm stoked and getting excited but telling myself to stay calm. Manage to get this flattie to the side of the boat and bang, it busted off. A few expletives later I was able to cast out again, but not happy! Would have been 60cm plus I reckon. Stayed a bit longer for more undersize tailor then headed home empty handed! Fish 1 me 0
  4. Beautiful fish! Love chasing whiting with nippers.
  5. Great work, so much fun fishing the beach like that!
  6. Hey Raiders, Today CaptainLukey and I went out in his boat to have a crack for some Kings. We put in at Kurnell just before 7 and headed straight across to trevally alley to catch some yakkas. After about half an hour there was no interest despite a good burley trail running. We then moved to the artificial reef nearby and got the burley going again. This time plenty of yakkas and so we soon had a couple of livies over the side with big circle hooks in them. Stayed here for a couple of hours while the livies swam around with absolute no interest at all. We were fishing with our light rods as well hoping for something else over the reef. CaptainLukey landed a lovely bream at 33cm which he has donated to me for dinner tonight. After getting nothing else and no interest in the yakkas we then had a bash at the drums. Again no luck so decided to go for a few drifts off Brighton for flatties. Tried this for around half an hour with no joy. Decided to work our way back to the ramp when we came across birds and a big bust up. We slammed on the anchors and starting casting metals into the water and it was a tailor a cast for about 45 minutes. It as a huge school and they were ravenous. A great way to finish off the morning, we probably caught around 50 fish releasing them all except for this one that I landed which is joining the bream for dinner tonight! All in all a great morning, slow at first and no kings but a great end with tailor madness. Until next time.......
  7. Great work. I know it's been said before, but kudos to you for using public transport to get around to do your fishing!
  8. Thanks guys, was a great way to spend time with her and we both got to do what we love and enjoy each other's company! Bonus was the lovely whiting [emoji2][emoji2]
  9. Paikea, I bought it in the tackle shop, the rod is ok, reel was rubbish so have put one of mine on it. There are lots of cheap ones with gimmicky cartoon pics on them, but this rod is reasonable quality and has landed her a few tiny snapper!!
  10. Johndory, Way ahead of you mate. She's had the pink Princess rod since the beginning of the year! Just have have to keep taking her out!
  11. Great session on the blackies. I popped down to the wharf at San Souci for a couple of hours from 11.00 and had only about two downs and no fish.
  12. Hi Raiders, Managed to sneak out this afternoon on the pretence of taking my daughter to the beach! I've been targeting Blackfish lately and loving the challenge but thought we could pump a few yabbies then I could fish the shallows while my daughter played on the beach. Pumped about 20 yabbies and then proceeded to cast out and slowly retrieve. Immediately got hits and managed three undersize flatties, two undersize flounder and two whiting. One undersize but the other one my first ever legal whiting at 35cm. I was stoked, it put up a nice little fight and I slowly walked it to the beach, only sighting it in the last couple of metres. I was panicking that I'd lose it as I was bringing it in but it was well hooked. A great two hours spent with my daughter and catching fish!
  13. You guys are really smashing it! Great work and enjoying reading your reports and seeing the pics of those fish.
  14. Man, that's a great haul!! Great work guys, love your passion and hard work.
  15. Fantastic session boys, very jealous!!! Love reading these reports and can't wait t get back out there myself!!
  16. Lovely work and a great session. Fantastic to have them on the bite like that and shame about the big ones that found the kelp!
  17. @CaptainLukey, at least its not just us that are catching zippo!!
  18. Hi everyone, My first post on fishraider but have enjoyed reading other's posts and have learnt a lot. I have just started fishing for luderick in the past couple of months and am totally addicted now. I'm new to fishing altogether, having just been put onto its joys last year by my mate. Yesterday I went down to Wally's Wharf in Dolans Bay and spent the late morning and early afternoon on the wharf drifting. It was really busy with boats coming and going off the ramp but was able to still fish a lot. It was quiet going for most of the time but managed to land a 37cm fish which put up a nice little fight. The downs were just picking up around 1.30 when, of course, I had to leave. Was using weed from Cronulla and burleying with sand/weed/bread mixture. 7'3" rod with 2500 spinning reel, 9lb leader and braid (not sure what weight). Hoping to get out again tomorrow to bring home some more. Picture attached of gutted and scaled fish. Matt
