  1. Just to the South of Jibbon Bommie
  2. Yep, it cooked up a treat on the BBQ... Still prefer Snapper though
  3. My intentions were to bring home a few Snapper for the BBQ, however someone forgot to tell them we were coming.. We did manage 2 small ones at 38cm.. Then the man in the grey suit turned up. It's the second one I have had on the boat in the last 2 weeks having never caught one in the last 8 years that I have fished this location.... It put up a sprirted performance in relatively shallow reefy water using a 2-4kg 7ft Snapper Rod with a 4000 Sustain loaded with 10lb braid and a 12 lb Flurocarbon leader. A very recpectable Gummy Shark Cheers PB
  4. Yep.. I have found the same. A load of Rats down off the Marley headland as well.
  5. Nice work Yowie.. I was out on Sunday afternoon and found it really slow. Water temp down to 16 has put the buggers to sleep. I was looking for Blackfish in a couple of spots but gave up and turned to dropping a few floaters around the entrance to Yowie bay before the plague of pinkies turned up. Nice afternoon all the same
  6. The buggers are even up in the shallows at the Northern end of Bate Bay.. Grrrrrrr..
  7. Simple.. Your Missus!
  8. I'm just curious to how you drift with plastics in that depth ? Do u cast ahead of your drift and let it get to the bottom or cast behind and drag along behind the boat ... Any thoughts ? Bardi
  9. Thanx Mr Squid... Hope its not running too hard tomorrow.. Cheers Pb
  10. Good afternoon Raiders.. Has anyone ventured off Cronulla in the last couple of days ? I would like to know what the current is doing at the moment.. BOM Ocenaography looks like its still running downhill slightly. Can anybody verify at how many knots.. Cheers Bardi

    ETEC's and E10

Hi Craig.. Yep, definitely NO E10 going into my boat.....! Would 95RON be better than 98RON, or is there no difference/benefit to using either ? Cheers Paul

    ETEC's and E10

Thanx Leo Yep...it is only 91RON....So what would be the preferred option, 95RON or 98RON ? Is there a difference as far as burn temp is concerned, and how does it affect an ETEC ? Does an ETEC need to be tuned differently ? I just don't know the answers and would like to make sure I am treating her right Cheers Pb

    ETEC's and E10

With the introduction of the new laws to ban unleaded fuel in NSW from June 2012, I would like to know what is the best option regarding fule for an ETEC ?... I know that E10 is NOT recommended, so does that mean I should use Premium Unleaded, something like VORTEX 95 or even 98 RON ? What to do ? Pb
  14. Hey Kephlapod.. That second picture of the boat coming in to the wharf is me !!... We had a good afternoon out the front landing a feed of flatties and Jackets.. Next time i will come and say high.. Cheers Paul
  15. Take it to Huey.. He is the best man for the job...100% This is not a paid advertisement , simply a fact Pb
  16. For the record...Craig has been fabulous throughout this whole episode....
  17. Whats wrong with asking for 2nd opinions?... Not sure where you are going with this Huey?
  18. Thanx to all for your valuable opinions... Thats pretty much made my mind up on what I will be handing over my hard earned for.... I feel relieved...the search is over...... Pb
  19. Hi all.. How many hours would you expect to get out of a well maintained 90 ETEC ? Now I know this is like asking how long is a piece of string but what I am asking is, if you look after it and don't give it a hard time and also get it regularly serviced etc etc.....how many hours would you resonably expect to get from it?.... 600 800 1000 more? Interested in your thoughts?
  20. Well...I made the 1 hr 40 journey to check out this motor and it was rubbish.. I won't name the dealer who heralded it as a fantastic unit BUT it was not worth a dime. The thing had marine growth all over the trim/tilt mechanism and all the powdercoat/paintwork was had long since been removed in that portion of the motor.. The cowling itself was scratched to pieces to the point where it looked like a rottweiler had taken a liking to it and was determined to gnaw its way through it in several places. The only conclusion I could come to is that if the owner looked after the outside like this who knows what has happened to the inside! Anyway, u live and learn. The lesson here is even though you ask all the right questions sometimes others are not so reliable in their responses... So the search continues... Bardi
  21. Hi all.. Does anyone have any experience with these motors?.. I want to know if they have any known issues or if they are a good reliable donk. I am looking at putting one on my Haines 470. Any feedback welcome...Good and Bad.. Thanx Bardi

    Lowrance X88 Df

Hi all... I have fiddled and fiddled and finally need some help on this. I have an X 88DF sounder that has worked brilliantly for abut 3 years now. Recently (in the last 3 months) it has been losing the bottom reading even whilst drifting. Now I am not talking about past the shelf here, I am only in 100-150 ft of water. I have done the logical stuff like making sure the transducer is sitting properly and I have even moved it slightly up and down whilst on the water to make sure its parallel etc.... I have also made sure the connections are all ok and clean but it still loses the bottom reading. Its almost like it has lost its power to pulse through the water column. Even changing from 200 Hz to 50 Hz has little or no affect. Has anyone seen this kind of behaviour before?.. Rgds Paul
