Greg i used to hit long reef in a 4.1m Alf Stessl with a 30hp on the back, obviously the days had to be picked but shouldnt be a problem @ all... As for squid...... they really are EVERYWHERE!!!..... just find shallow areas, rocky,kelp or grassy areas are all sure things, a good place to start would be quarrintine bay. Saying that i used to think that there was "Secret" squid spots, but i have caught them everywhere, Balmoral is another popular spot. Obviously every1 has their little spot X that performs well and every now and then the surprise by catch, i caught 2 squid on Fri 50cm+ whilst fishing for kings.....silly creatures. Its a flying gaff..... i dont know about you but i dont want to holding onto a gaff with a angry shark on the other end. i took one, ill post it on soon

Went Jigging yesterday, wont really get into it much except for the following.... Whilst Struggling with a solid solid king i felt a different *Thud* on the rod.... not the back breaking runs of a king..... but of a shark... he stole my kingy, mind you this fish was easy a 1m fish, so i struggled to fight to get my fish back to try to get it out of its jaws.....Then we ended up hooking the Shark in the side of the mouth... What happened next was a 45 min battle with the shark... we got it boat side were about to bring it in and TWANG!!.... oh well so is fishing. We lost about 10 quality kings to sharks yesterday at various locations.. but still did ok. hope you like the pics

Hey all I recently purchased a Pongrass 5.8m CC fibreglass and was hoping to head offshore with it. After discussions with a close friend of mine, he advised me that maybe this boat is not fit to fish "Wide", Basicially what i am after is...... Where would i find information about this boat and/or its limitations?? I understand everyone gets to know their boat, but i wanna be sure this thing is right for the bruising it is going to cop offshore Cheers YH

Hi All I have been looking at importing a american boat for some time now and to be honest i am waiting for the dollar to climb again before i look in more detail, but i wanted to know if anyone out there knew what costs were involved in importing a boat from the U.S looking at a 5-6M Fibreglass. Delivery Cost? Tax? Gst? Rego? Compliance (If any) Other hidden cost, i am trying to evaluate if it is viable, or i just shut up and buy 1 through a dealer here... Any help would be appreciated.
