  1. LOL!!! Egimax overnight huh? where have i heard that before.............i think your right, because when we went out you did not start catching any squid until his jigs ran out of egimax, me myself i think i was using WD-40 that day, nothing worked
  2. Rumour has it he catches more squid as well hehe
  3. Kelvin lol i didnt want to say anything but yes i did get my PB on your boat, just for the record gentleman, Kelvin,s electronics on his boat are as he states........."State of the art!!!" it makes fishing so easy that it should be illegal. I thank Kelvin for all the info over the year, he has shown that the way i was fishing was like i was still in the stone ages, Thank you for the info .................and my p.b hehe even though i didnt catch no squid that day.
  4. Wow a post from Kelvin again, always informative and always exciting. Firstly conratz to tony (2nd time i congratulate him in a few weeks, 1st time was for the YF) that is a nice specimen jew right in our harbour. nice to see that the fishing is firing up again, Thanks for all the help with all the information you share freely with people who actually enjoy learning. See you on the water (ill be the boat doing 3knots hehe) Keep it up champ, im going to hit the harbour on Wed hopefully Cheers Greg
  5. Hi all i was just reading another post where a guy lost his pride and joy.... stolen by some wanker (hope you get it back) Anyways i was just thinking to myself what a joke the BoatCode is. let me stress that i dont know if the law is still the same but the last i knew of it was, if a boat was registered in NSW with the maritime via the boatcode then the numbers could only be checked in South Australia and Western Australia...... what a fkn joke, quite simply put..... anyone who steals a boat from across the border can come and legally register it in nsw or vice verca, thus showing the low percentage of stolen boats being recovered (only 5% get recovered) this is australia not bangladesh make a bloody uniform database which has everyones details stored on a national database which will make it harder for criminals to make $$$$$$ out of stealing boats + jet ski,s they did something in relation to number jobs in cars but until now i think that the issue of stolen boats has not really been addressed by government authorities. sorry if i seem a litttle strong but i see this issue as a issue that everyone knows exists yet no one wants to aknowledge it, to all you people who have had your boats stolen i feel for ya.... and all of you people who have actually stolen boats i hope they catch ya until then..... cyaz on the water Cheers
  6. Cheers i am finding though that the squid seem to be in deeper water at the moment or am i mistaken?
  7. Hi all i also was out there this weekend and like most of you i tried the same tactics, i managed 3 squid, 1 large one and dropped another 4, but i didnt try the spit as i saw 2 many boats there, the only funny thing i found was....... even though i was trying to catch squid when it was dark i managed 3 squid and dropped 4 all in around 30 min @ first light. i had the same experience as you guys , the fish were not on the bite, fished @ pretty much everywhere for nothing started @ middle harbour 4 nothing, hit Sow and Pigs (with about 10 other boats) Wedding cake and then even ended up going out the heads as it was not to rough Sooooooooo many boats out there but no fish i had every bait under the sun(fresh caught squid, prawns chicken fillet, pillies, bagged squid and live nippers) but no good at the end of the day i scored 5 trevally and 1 large port jackson shark which was released ,a very very nice day to be out on the water but the only issue was i didnt even see other boats pulling up fish, very unusual day all the ingredients for a good day where out there minus the fish, i hope that some people did better than i did. Cheers p.s This is my 5th shark in 2 weeks are some people finding a lot of these sharks around?
  8. Not a bad effort Bass your making me jealous now, ill trade you a kingie trip for a rock fishing trip congratz on the catch looks like a beast
  9. hi all went out and hit the harbour on tuesday decided i was going to chase some salmon around north head, it didnt work out as as soon as i got out to the heads i was confronted by 2m swells so like a little pussycat i did a u-turn and came back in and fished @ sow and pigs, sstarted a burley trail in hope of some nice bream..... unusually not a single bream (1st time for me as i usually do ok for bream there) caught a few trevally around 30-35 cm nice fun on light tackle was kicking back when my boat rod with a full squid screams away i jump on it and i know it isnt a king(which is what i hoped for) as it had some heavy head shakes a min or 2 later i pull up a nice port jackson about 75cm the same happens about 45min later when i pull out another 1 about 1.2m long...... real long and real fat one... i caught another smaller one about 65cm......if it was a bit smaller i would have put it in my fishtank anyways did not do 2 good fishing exept for a few whiting and a couple of just legal reds later... all in all a enjoyable day as long as your out on the water p.s are the shark edible as all were released upon capture, also are they protected? if not what are the size limits? i could not find anything on the fisheries sticker Cheers Greg
  10. wow didnt see this report before well done on the fish there champ....... wait untill summer and you can leave your rocks behind and come chase some kings in the harbour ... not a bad effort
  11. like any normal person of authority its all up to them they may choose to just give you a warning as you do have a license and you had children with you i dont see any drama occuring from this matter, i once went fishing with a friend who kept some undersized fish and he was fined on 3 accounts $580 = No license $580 = For supplying a false name $580 undersized fish, lets just say it was a expensive fishing LESSON $1740 fine but i dont see you getting any fine at all
  12. Well done on your catch, thats a awesome effort you have made me jealous with envy, its also nice the way you have thanks certain people, i also have been given a lot of help from people on this site.... either way top report and top effort
  13. thats right where i was fishing i find also you get some snapper there, ill be out there 2morrow night or maybe sat night, either way ill post results
  14. i am very happy with that catch im goin to the same spot this saturday night (weather permitting) but this time we are going in a group of 3 boats... i hope the jews are still there wanting to play.
  15. good call mondo i was just curious are you allowed 2 keep hammerhead sharks? the ones i have been getting are about 70cm long any ideas any1?
  16. LOL!! that post was not only 4 you as you can see there are other people who was asking how the fish was landed otherwise you would need a pretty big Environet
  17. Hi all as you may know i went down to port Kembla on thursday night last week and fished for a few Jews and did ok..... so i decided on trying again on saturday night, went down with my brother in law got there about 9:30pm was calm as went to the spot and within 3 minutes my broter in law was into his 1st jewie.....nothing major approx 60cm but none the less he was excited. 2 cut a long story short we fished through the night caught another hammerhead shark and another 10 JEWFISH we lost another 5 trying to land them as i had left the net at home :idiot: they would eat anything we threw at them, i caught a live squid on guess what bait????? squid.. could not believe it anyways stripped it up and it went good, also i caught a small tailor (foul hooked in the back) so i decided 2 send it back down.....within 5 min the 3kg bream gear buckled over we stayed most of the night till early morning and had a really enjoyable time, cant wait to do it all again............ SORRY SORRY SORRY about the pic quality, the pics were taken from my phone at about 4am.. hope you can see them good, was a good night cant wait for sat to do it all again....btw the light tackle worked better as i thought
  18. hi all as previuodly stated the fished was not gaffed or netted, whe the fish did take the bait, the anchor was pulled and the fish was actually pulling the boat, when they got the fish tired enough and close enough the drove the boat to shore where the fish was beached, it was the only way they could bring it up
  19. now all you people are making me upset that i am not the one who caught this thing
  20. LOL well done Mr lewis..... i am about to go down there tonight...hope to be down there approx 9pm and fish till about 2-3am perfect weather for it, looks like i might see you down there
  21. the guy said 68kgs but i find that hard 2 swallow, could it be possible?
  22. Steve it was caught on a live mullet and it was early morning , top effort though mate it wieghed 68kgs before being gutted, reason the fish is on the floor was that they could not carry it and take a photo properly
  23. Let me start off by saying......... i did not catch this fish it was caught by a friend of a friend last week at Flint and Steel, apparently they guys on board pulled anchor and the fish was pulling the boat along, makes the soapies i caught at Port Kembla looks like tadpoles (this has got 2 be the only fish i have seen caught bigger than a fish Namesay has caught....sorry Kelvin)
  24. was fishing just inside the harbour, fishfinder was dead but my mate had been there before and pointed out the spot, a lot of hook ups though, i would say we lost another 8-12 fish, next time i will use the twin hook rig
