  1. Me too Jess - goodness knows I try!
  2. Great result Davy - a true dedicated fisho - bet you were dreaming about your afternoon all day at Uni hanging to be free. Cheers Marg
  3. Ross would you consider wearing a dress?
  4. Hey Mrs Watto you are on - I'll send you a PM - I'll just double check when Mrs Stumpy is free. I have a rule though and that is that you have to put your own bait on!!! I'm sure you are OK with that. RAIDER'S GIRL POWER! Cheers Marg
  5. My son caught this baby flattie by hand. Tiny
  6. How big is that toad? From the pic it looks enormous. I love Harrington and Crowdy Head - what a beautiful place to be - you just need to be careful at high tide on Crowdy Head Beach. Well done on the flatties. Cheers Marg
  7. We certainly love our river!
  8. Roberta is awesome - you're going to have a great time. GOOD LUCK - will be looking out for your post.
  9. Funny you should say that as I was speaking to my hubby on the mobile at the time and he suggested the same, but the guys in the boat had the rego covered with something. I should have taken a pic as Jo suggested. Thanks for the tip. You regularly see the bigger trauling boats but not a tinny doing it. Yes she does seem to do it backwards but she is actually catching fish MURRAY! Cheers "BAD GIRL" MARG P.S. How was your dinner tonight Stumpy???
  10. Now, now - you're just jealous because you didn't get to go out today - I saw that sad face! Am I to use the shovel as a fish bonker???
  11. Mrs Watto - love the pic! Bastik - I think it's something you're born with, however, I do love Jo's SALE idea. Maybe take her to Peat's Bite at Bar Point for a special treat @ $110/head (water access only) - that might make her enjoy being on the beautiful Hawkesbury. Flightmanager - bet you never expected to get so much interest in your Etec. Mrs Stumpy - you're terrible muriel (what's with that pic) and hey have I every told you how much I love the Hawkesbury? Wildfish - thanks P.S. I do feel guilty going out so often but there are worse things I could be into. Life's too short - don't wait for things to happen - just do it! Today I actually washed the boat and backed it all the way up our tricky driveway and unhitched it by the time hubby was home, now all he has to do is pay for the petrol.
  12. Gee I might have to purchase an Etech ... hey Ross!
  13. Stumpy all I can say is: "Turn that frown upside down!" There is really no contest here for the race has been won - men and women can enjoy fishing TOGETHER and fishraider proves that Cheers mrsswordfisherman (the ONLY FEMALE OWNER OF A FISHING WEBSITE IN AUSTRALIA ) YOU GO GIRLFRIEND aka MRS SWORDIE - YOU'RE MY IDOL!
  14. No worries Ross - catching a jew is very hyper! How did you go?
  15. Great Catch Jo! Railway Bridges
  16. Another perfect day on the Hawkesbury. Felt a "little" guilty waving my hubby off to work (actually I was still asleep) and the kids off to school as I headed out to my favourite place in the world - thankfully Mrs Stumpy was eager to join me. With the weather predicted for rain for the rest of the week, what's a fishing fanatic to do .... rearrange work and hit the water - that's what! About 5 minutes in, I had a heavy hit but struggled with my rod and lost the catch. Within about 10 minutes Jo reeled in a fantastic schoolie - I'm sure all of Brooklyn, Bar Point and Berowra Waters could have heard her excitement. Now I'm not one to swear but boy I was excited for her. Straight away I knew it was legal and with the way it danced to come to the top, I had a good feeling it was a jewie - what a beautiful fish. Now I must say "Geez Flightmanager did you have to ring Jo when I was reeling in a good one?" unfortunately due to Jo not being hands free a net wasn't sort quick enough and my large flounder detacted right before my very eyes and stayed on top of the river for what seemed like ages only to slowly sink and live to see another day. Jo ... now we are even RE:squid - Thursday night. The rest of the day produced: JO Jewie 54cm Bream 30cm Taylor Mistery fish - looked like a whiting but with a yellowtail .... maybe a yellowtail approx. 25cm Catfish MARG Flounder (plate size lost at the top) Flattie 34.5cm Taylor 29.99cm Bream Catfish What's with the catfish - thought we'd got rid of them. That's 3 now within a week and saw other fishos cutting their lines today. I must say it's nice to see other dedicated fishos out enjoying the weather, although I'm not overly keen on the guys that were dropping their huge net behind their small tinny around Milson Island - is that legal as they traul up and down? THANKS JO - great day out - shame about the one's we lost that bit the hook off - I hate not knowing what they were.
  17. What do you suggest Jo?
  18. Here's an idea: Since winter sport is on again, why not host a Sunday Hawkesbury River Comp MALES vs FEMALES with a 6am check in + breaky at Bobbin Head Picnic Area - launch boats at Apple Tree Bay (just around the corner) - weigh in by 3pm then enjoy a BBQ dinner (BYO). Gas BBQ's and toilets available. I think it sounds like a great family day out. Cheers Marg
  19. What a classic! All we were trying to do was have a little fish - no need to get your knickers in a knot!!! P.S. Thanks for the burley trail ..... it certainly helped us out. P.S.S. Ross I love the imitation of the idling twin mercs.
  20. Hey Ross - it sounds fantastic, waking up on the water to enjoy bacon and eggs with your fishing rods at your disposal. Don't suppose you fella's took a camera? The moons looking pretty good tonight - would love to be out there again. Cheers Marg P.S. Did you happen to see the jewie that one of the boats were raving about at Juno? I could just make out something. Weren't they saying 25kg? It was great to hear the fellow fisho's applause. Living with 4 males (hubby + 3 Kids) ...... this sounds great to me!
  21. GO FISHRAIDERS GIRL POWER GROUP! That sounds like a fantastic idea - we will definitely have to arrange it. Is that with or without karaoke? Cheers Marg P.S. Yes Ross (Flightmanager) does look like he's dreaming about his new baby, fortunately he was in Stumpy's boat which I must say "isn't" extremely quiet with his twin engines ... at least it was hard to hear Ross talking about his new (blue) Etec Sorry Ross - I must say this whole theme is such a classic topic.
  22. RE: LIVE BAIT Dito Live Bait - I totally relate ... I've always got a smile on my dial when I hit the water - it's the best place to be. RE: CEPH Ceph the squid would have been approx 40cm - Mrs Stumpy had never seen one before so it was quite funny seeing/hearing her reaction to it. She had no idea what this thing was squirting and spitting water at her my concerns for the black ink squirting either myself or the boat made me lose it when tranfering it from the net to the bucket - I still can't believe I lost it, especially when it wasn't my catch. As you know squid is great for bait, however, it is also delicious for human consumption - even though I know the jewies are on, I would have opted to keep it to eat. RE: LURINGBREAM I haven't really fished under the rail bridge lately (only for a short period with Paris Hilton) but wasn't there long enough to find out. There are always boats around the bridges so that must say something. I did notice yesterday since having the fish finder fixed that there is a very big hole on the Brooklyn side of the freeway bridge and some guys had many crab pops out around this area. I also noticed yesterday that the fishing trawlers (2) were out at it again, surely these guys are sucking the river dry. Yes thanks to FR members posting replies and sending PM's and the recent social event at The Entrance, I have a better understanding about flatties. Flatties are definitely one of the nicest fish to each and so easy to fillet. I definitely recommend doing a drift to capture this type of fish. Yesterday I had several big ones that got away, I'm positive they were flatties and that they just broke off when they realised they were getting to the top - they gave a thrashing and then gone. Worst thing is not seeing the one that got away. Not exactly sure what I need to do to ensure I get them up and into the boat. I've purchased thicker braid so they can't bite through it now, it's just the problem of the flatties soft lips or the fact that they spit the bait out when alerted to danger. I'll keep trying though to catch that monster. HI MONDO Funny about the scenario. I'm actually thinking that FR need to add an icon with a man waving a rolling pin as my poor husband has to put up with my fishing obsessions. I find it funny when I read that people have to sweet talk the to get out on the water. What the? RE: Consistency - practice makes perfect and I am positively thinking that one day I will post a monster on Fishraider. BRING IT ON!
  23. Thanks for that Roberta - cool, I'll check it out. It's amazing how quiet it went with regards to activity below once we'd past the tide change. They must of all gone for a smoko.
  24. The Glorious Hawkesbury Nightraider - Flightmanager & The Stumpies at Juno
  25. I think the jewfish is such a great looking fish - clean and shiny. Try adding a photo to a reply and don't forget to resize (right click on the pic). Cheers Marg
