  3. Hi all, My missus is scared of my boat, not my actual boat per say, but dislikes being in it on the water. Every time I take her out the weather turns windy and choppy. So I thought I'd organize a boat trip in calm waters on the beautiful Hawkesbury River. We set of from Sydney at 930am and arrived at Brooklyn had a bite to eat opposite the train station (not bad food/service). Launched the boat at 11:30 and proceeded up the Hawkesbury, and would you believe it, 10 min up the river and we plough into someone’s wake and the boat goes flying in the air, the missus not happy, but kids screamed with excitement. Any way slowed down and took in the scenery. Now for the fishing part, I don’t bring fishing gear with me when I take out the family because they get bored and start whining plus I only take them out for an hour or two, under the recommendation of my brother as he said to me I should only take the family out in short trips so that they can get used to it. Anyway this time I brought my flick stick, anchored under the railway bridge and nailed 4 Flathead to 63cm and 2 Bream to 37cm. I caught all these fish in 1hr and 15min, Misses was impressed because there were another three boats around us and I cleaned up while they were watching on. Sorry no Pic’s , but not for to much longer as I have an olympus on layby.
  4. Taking the family boating in the hawkesbury on saturday. Launching at broklyn

  8. Hi jewgaffer Just a little thankyou, had a great time on the water with you and Julius. Picked up a lot of valuble information from you (you have given me an anfair advantage over the jews now). Ive read your posts on the barametric pressure and its effect on marine life, (you should subbmitt that to sydney Uni I think it would blow them away ) you realy know your stuff. Anyway thankyou once again, hope to catch up with you in the near future and have a laugh. PS Still cant belive the size of those jewies you caught, great pictures. I never targeted jewies before, but now you've inspired me to show now mercy on them. Cheers Thereddragon
  9. Now that's a nice fishy, cant wait till I go out and try for myself. Congrats
  10. Line snaped about 3sec after strike, addmittedly I had drag on hard as I did'nt want to fight to long as the swell was crappy, just wanted to winch the fish in asap. The whiting on bloodworm longshank hook tiny sinker. Bream 3" minnow pumpkin seed 1/24. The only big fish that I have caught consistently are tailor, never caught a leatherjacket or a shark so dont know. I keep a close eye on the rod tip and line at all times, did not notice any movements prior to the fish running away with the bait.
  11. Hi all, My mate last night piked out on our saturday morning fish, so I put an add in the Desperate and boatless for a crew member to no avial. Anyway so I thought what the heck Ill go by myself. Launched the boat at 6:00am at Kyeemagh, headed out to Moll point, took nearly an hour to anchor, swell and current was a bit too much for my light anchor. Sent down a whole squid 40lb with 80lb leader within 5min zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz strike snap reaload whith steel trace zzzzzzzzzzzz strike snap reaload, got the and went to the drums landed 2 trevs. Went back to moll point, nothing for 1hour so left and went for whiting off ramsgate beach, landed 6 whitting, left and went to third runway for zilch, back to the cooks river and landed a 3bream with my new flick stick .
  12. I usually fish about 2 to 3 times during weekdays in half hour to one hour sessions during the week in the early evening after work commintments. I guess it is speed fishing . I actually was hunting for Bream and wasn't to happy in cating the Tailor as I have eaten enough of them of late, the fish were not weighed as they went back into the drink. The minnow was weighted with 1/24
  13. I wonder what size kingy you could catch with that
  14. I used to be a prize fighter in tailand back in the early 80's, my fight name was the red dragon. Not true that's just my answer to people questioning the name of my boat The guy that owned it before me was scottish and the red dragon was apart of his football team.
  15. Yabbie Marine is still trading mobile. He came over last week and serviced my motor at my place. The mechanic sure knows his stuff, great guy very happy with his work and cheap too.
  16. Hi Brett, I fill up my excavators using a company by the name of Minni Tankers 9440 5544, Price changes by the day. My machines take 500liters and it works out I pay around $50 extra using them. Anesti,
  17. Finaly tested out my combo out on Tuesday night, I completed my last quotation in Woollooware at 6:30pm and had to be home by 7:30pm, so that the could go to the movies with her freinds. To get to my place from Woollooware I have to cross over the captains cook bridge, so naturally It happened again, I cant help it but when I see water I must fish. I had to stop and have a half hour fishing session under the bridge, parked the car, got out and froze my you know whats off. The wind was blowing, rain was comming down it was freezzzzzzing and nobody in sight. My initial casts went only 4 to 5 meters but in about 10 min of practice I had it going about 20meters. I was using Burkley 3" power minnow with power scales, I Nailed Three Tailor's within 20min, they were all around the 30cm mark.
  18. Wow, thanks guys you sure have given me a heap of info, Thankyou After reading your posts I have bought a rod reel combo on special Ian Miller designed Shimano raider series 7'6" 2pice Finesse bream 2-4kg with a Shimano Sienna 2500FB cost me $140 Because I am straped for time and addicted to fishing I always keep a 2pce in the back of the seats in my ute, but the problem was finding a bait shop when I am close to water, I can't help it, I see water I must fish. (I call this impulse fishing). This is my first flick stick, I like the idea of not having to purchase fresh/frozen bait. I also have a 7ft ugly stick with a stradic 2500fh. I put the sienna on the ugly stick and I put the stradic with braid on the spool with 6lb FC Rock Fluorocarbon leader on the raider. Thankyou once again for your help, any comments on my current set up would be appreciated
