Dont know how you anchored up in that swell... dam good effort for 1.5 hours work, what area were you fishing? This winter will be my first targeting snapper, looking forward!

Awesome catch! Same thing happened to me with a Blue Swimmer in the harbour when it was 37 degrees and everything else was shut down. Unfortunately the only action I had all day..

Was just reading through this old post. Great report! Hope we can see more like it. I'm eagerly waiting my upgrade from 2-stroke to 4-stroke to take place this week and will be heading straight to Long Reef.

@guysebastian sounds like you're hooked mate:) Let me just say George and his crew took my mates out for a bucks day on the water trolling for kingfish around bondi, coogee and maroubra. I have my own boat, downrigger setup and all but a day on the water with these guys taught me so much about becoming a better angler. Keep it up guys and see you on the water again

@chevvyy and you had squid! i was contemplating yakka for dinner but wasn't that desperate. Its off to the fishmarket for me. @Slawman i sounded 3 small bait schools the entire trip

Now I don't feel so bad! Has anyone tried with a different live bait for better results? Maybe squid/cuttlefish?

Fellow Raiders, Headed out this morning to Double Bay and gathered an abundance of yellow tail within 20min. Feeling hopeful, I headed for clarke island to try my new Magnum 10SX Downrigger which was finally installed over the weekend. Rigged up the first yakka sent her down to the depths and began trolling around the island... and nothing. Headed to Shark island...and nothing. Headed to Nelson, Wedding Cakes, Watsons with not even a hit! Just wanted to know if anyone else has been fishing the harbour lately with no success.. or maybe I have a lot to learn about downrigging! Regards Ben

I'm in the same boat mate. I was slow trolling live and dead baits around vaucluse bay, middle harbour, bradley's head with not even a touch. However, I seem to be fairly consistent with the squid which a least counts for something. Glad to hear I'm not the only one.
