  1. Hi Guys, Went up north for the first time with a freind on the weekend, arrived Friday so we can fish All day Saturday & Sunday with Paul Dolan of Fraser Coast Sportsfing. Pauul is a good bloke with a wealth of knowledge , operating a professional charter, great boat & really cares about the fishery. Day One was too blowy, forcing us to fish close to shore, but we still managed a few fish, GT, Dart , Queenfish & Golden trevally...nothing of size but great fun on bream gear. Day two, wind down allowd us to get out to Paul's special spots. Multiple Double hook ups on GT's to 4 kg, Sweetlip, little mac tuna, mackeral, even a gomorah.. Best fish of the day a 10-12kg Bludger trevally that took me over 1.5 hrs on my 10-17lb rod and 2500 Certate. Saw large turtles, stingrays flying out of the water & bait schools all around, catching 11 differnt species at an awesome place teaming with life. Cant wait to go again. cheers
  2. Congrats Guys, Looked like you some relaxing & fun session. Good to se cooks firing. cheers
  3. Hi Guys, Thanks for the kind words. Still buzzing...really enjoyed this particular capture..it was fulfilling in so many ways. As Chris replied, it was a 5" shad in white, with a 7gram jig head on 16lb trace, tide was outgoing. As for "devine Intervention" ??????? You surely are clutching at straws Chris. Nothing more than skill, technique & detailed knowledge
  4. Hi All, After having some difficulty in getting to the water in the last few months due to family, weather & work committments, I did what every Australian would do & chucked a sickie... Organised a capable deckie (Aero) with the aim to have some fun, relax & get onto some fish. The bay was looking a lot better than it has for a while, water clarity a lot better, water temp a bit cooler. We found some squid but could'nt entice Mr King. As the banter/bulls*%^ was exchanged my leader knott failed, resulting in a rant from Chris, regarding checking/replacing lines...blah...blah...blah. Now being older & wiser of the two, I calmly proceeded to replace the leader, tie new jig & put my jewie lure on...I got up "Let me show you how to catch a jew" i cried as I took a cast.... And this is what I caught... Later weight at 11kg, going 107cm...my new personal best on lure, but best of all the youngster was gobsmacked
  5. Hi Guys, Want to go up to Awoonga soon & wondering wether anyone can suggest a guide that knows his stuff. I havent fished that region at all & havent got the time to stuff around. Any suggestion that can put me onto a barra would be appreciated. cheers
  6. and hopefully we will get to enjoy it for sometime to come, mate
  7. had a bit of an accident last year...got a Triton now & loving it
  8. thanks mate... its taken awhile but im starting to get back into it....see ya soon
  9. My kingy rig is a Daiwa Zillion with 20pb braid tied directly to 20pb flurocarbon Nitlon leader. The rod is a Max cast Starlo Pro stick with the spiral guides...love this rod, caught my 20kg jewie on it last year. I use a running sinker straight to the hook to make sure the live squid goes down. Reading you comment, i think made youre bait might be the problem....I catch my own bait, if I dont catch it, I dont use it. hope this helps Lets keep that little secret between us, mate
  10. Hi all, Back at work on Monday, took Wednesday off for a fish On the water at 5am, spent the first hour casting topwater lures at markers. Got a few follows, and eventually hooked up only to loose the $17 lure to the chain...I had forgotten to tighten up the drag... When the sun came up, the fish went down so off to the squid grounds for a few for the dinner plate & hopefully Mr king fish. Spent 90min for 8 squid, the majority lollipops, great size for kings in my opinion. Back to the runway, rigged the Zillion/ Starlo stix combo, 20pb braid & trace with 8/0 gama & running sinker, put it through the squid and down she goes. 5 min later im on to a undersize rat, which is quickly released . Next squid in, Im humbing the spool so i can feed the fish and make sure its well down its gob, i then turned the handle to engage the spool & was nearly pulled overboard from the force of the pull....love these fish!!!! After a great fight i eventually netted a 76cm specimen. Next squid gets me a 87cm fat King that managed to turn my 5mtrs fibreglass boat around went it tried to make for the rocks. This guy had me constantly humbing the locked up drag for the hole fight...was to tired to lift him in the net. Well and truly happy & sore I called it a day. Like to wish all, a Happy, Safe & Healthy New Year. cheers
  11. Congrats on the good finish. I lot of people found it tough in both those comps, I know we did!! Consistency will eventually payoff no doubt!!! cheers
  12. Fantastic fish!! congrates on a great capture
  13. Great to see you got out with the little one mate I cant wait for Liam to be joining us in the near future... That Battler of yours in truly named.. cheers
  14. Damn I missed it!! Looks like a great day had by all. Congratulations to all involved.....see you at the next one. cheers
  15. Great session Red Very Jealous
  16. Hi Guys, Please help with a ongoing dispute. These are the facts: person A catches live squid, puts it on his specifically rigged up rod. person A positions boat with leccy into the strick zone & holds it there. person A cast livey out & then passes rod to person B. person B, strikes, fights fish & with the help of person A (manouvering boat for best fighting position) lands fish with net. Who should take credit for the capture? its got to go to one or the other!!! no "team Work" responses, no 60/40 % breakdown. This argument needs to end here & now!!! Please post responce. cheers
  17. Amazing!! Fantastic effort gents Only with teamwork is anyone ever able to score fish like that.
  18. Congrats Cid, Great Kings, Great catch, well done

    Boat Skids

Hi Guys, Could someone please explain what are boat skids. my understanding is that, its a couple of blocks wrapped in fabric placed either side of the hull of a boat , so it can be lifted with a hoist, crane etc so as not to damage the hull? Can someone clarify pls? Cheers
  20. Congrats on the jew mate nice capture on 6lb trace. Glad your boat's got that smell again at least someone getting on the water.........
  21. if thats the case Red, its well and truly over a month.... And judging by Aero's voice on Saturday & his ordinary session on the water, he is Definetly NOT a happy chappy!!
  22. Got one, LUV IT. Done over 130hrs in the first year..cant fault it.
  23. heres my 20kg Botany bay Jewie. went 132cm long caught on Australia Day.
  24. Thanks Guys for the encouragement. Still shaking my head in wonder: Aero and I won the Botany bay session for the Summer series a couple of weeks ago, and even though it was my first bream comp & money/prizers were involved it doesnt come close to holding up fish like that! all I can say to those who target jewies, it is only a matter of time before you land one......and make sure your gear is ready for it: thanks again
