  1. https://www.fishranger.com.au/the_truth_about_weather_sites ^^ gives a pretty good run down
  2. Passageweather. Based off GFS. BOM derived off GFS.... GFS updates every 3 or 4 hrs, BOM only once a day.
  3. Pretty sure it was a flatty! Either that or I ate stargazer fish and chips...
  4. Nice one mate sounds good. Will keep an eye on the weather and keep you posted.
  5. Anyone keen for a paddle out from Long Reef boat ramp? Im keen to head to some of the close reefs/wrecks on the north side of longy, might be a bit safer not doing it solo! If anyone is keen let me know, i can do weekend mornings early and sometimes during the week. Best pick a day with no wind to start with and a building nor easter to make the paddle back easier. Cheers, Sam
  6. Might have, it's a bit of a mystery. Maybe should go see a doctor!!
  7. Yep been spiked plenty of times by various fishes including flatties.
  8. Gday Raiders, Had a good day out yesterday with a nice handful of flatties on sp's from the kayak. Something a bit weird happened though - as I was handling one of the bigger ones i got a solid electric shock. Not a little sharp zap like static electricity but a deeper thump that ran up my arm. I was standing shin deep in water (so was well and truly earthed) and was grabbing the fish off the ruler on the deck of the kayak with wet gloved hand around its belly... bit of firm pressure to lift it then whack!! No batteries or power on the kayak so cross that off the list of causes. Any ideas what was going on here? I know there are some rays and species that generate a shock but didnt think flatties were amongst them!
  9. If you fish there - dont forget that half of Sydney's sewerage is flowing under your feet through the NSOOS Syphon. Pretty amazing structure, someone definitely put some thought in to the way that was made.
  10. Pool at nth curly then round the corner. Take care though it is an exposed rock ledge.
  11. North curly sometimes, manly wharf is pretty reliable. Aside from that go the wharves and jetties in pittwater
  12. While we are on drying stuff out - if you ever get packets of dessicants in your fishing gear or anything else, throw them in to your fishing bag/bakcpack. I've got about 10 rattling round in the compartments of my fishing bag and it stops that skanky smell building up. Since I started doing that I never even air the bag out and its fine...
  13. Another one; Keep hooks (and all other tackle for that matter) in original packaging until they are used. Take them out one at a time rather than dumping the lot in your tackle box.
  14. Good swag of bream. Only had a few sessions off the beach in Sydney of late, odd salmon and tailor and the dreaded port jacksons. What rig are you using for the bream?

    Sand bar

Mud. Think you have to access from the island, even then you would sink waist deep in mud. Saw a bloke stuck there in his boat one morning. Water still covering the bar. Must have been planing then stopped and got stuck. He was high and dry still 7 hrs later when I drove back the other way poor bugger.
  17. Yeah it must be breeding season or something this time of year. Big baits anywhere off the rocks or beach they are all over it between August to November . Usually swallow whole baits and hooks which is no good. 1 port think about packing up, 2 ports go home before you lose any more hooks! Beautiful creatures though the heterodontus. They can survive a long time out of the water.
  18. Something must be broken with the willyweather swell data feed for port stephens and the other locations you mentioned. There is almost never zero swell, plus willyweather is showing correct swell data for newcastle.
  19. There will be big south swell tomorrow and howling SW tending S winds.
  20. https://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://amp.dailytelegraph.com.au/newslocal/manly-daily/hundreds-of-tonnes-of-rock-fall-from-face-of-cliff-at-north-avalon/news-story/64b487b9d15e7157f493cdb83f15f5ee&ved=0ahUKEwijoIOFpNHVAhUQtJQKHV2ABgMQFggnMAE&usg=AFQjCNGFbxjfApuKpn8-WpyrSjEzD6JD8Q&ampcf=1 Wow.
  21. Pretty lucky that sounds way too close for comfort. A tourist watching the sun rise just there died not so long ago when the rock he was standing on slipped over the edge. His mate scrambled off as it was falling. Yeah i would have thought rain and big seas would cause rock falls but its been really dry for months now. Sandstone is pretty weak and soft as far as rock goes.
  22. I would take care dismantling and frankensteining an old microwave. Not only do you have 240V that could give you a fair whack but those things also shoot radiation.
  23. If you want bronzies/duskies I know just the beach! Last few sessions I have had there was a hook up every cast.... on yakkas same as ginko. Pillies didnt get a touch but yakkas got hit every time.
  24. Yeah been a bit slow on the beaches lately, plenty of bronzies/duskies still around though.
  25. No worries I get temporary amnesia after I buy fishing gear. Most prevalent around the Mrs. Sometimes I even say others have bought it. Strange phenomenon.
