  1. Just been given a selection of knife jigs for kingfish so need to buy a jigging combo. Therfore looking for suitable set ups that wont cost a fortune please.
  2. A mate and myself are always trying new ways of tying fishing rigs for catching mainly flathead and snapper to improve our catch. I have another mate from Victoria who rejects all of our research and always ties his own fan dangled set up but always manages to catch fish on the most unlikely looking set up. So would anyone like to comment and prefferably with pictures/drawings show their prefered set up with dimensions for the 2 main species that I have mentioned as well as anything else.

Looking at installing a pie warmer/oven to my boat I already have one of the plastic plug in food warmers but want to upgarde to a bigger unit. There appears to be a few on the market and some very similar looking. From previous experience an anyone suggest the best one to purchase?
  4. Thanks for the offer Frank but I have plenty of gps marks for the area as you said I was mainly after snapper spots at the island I have put your mark in my sounder and will give it a go thank you.
  5. Thought I might try heading out to Montague island before sun up to try for some snapper this week. Can any one give me some gps marks as a strating point where I am likely to encounter some. I am aware of the layout of the island and surrounds so if marks are not available a bit of a guide to a suitable area would suffice.

  8. Solution found from online electronics store $18 plus housing and knob to suit and I remotely mounted the potentiometer into a blank swich cover above original wiper switch. "The MXA041 module is designed to control the time interval between wipes of an automotive windshield wiper. The standard delay range may be altered by increasing or reducing the value of the on-board capacitor. Adjustment of the time interval is via a potentiometer which may be mounted remotely from the timer board". Power Requirement 12VDC at 40mA Time interval ( without modifications 😞 adjustable from 3 to 30 seconds. Relay Load 10Amp 12VD LED indication for operation of relay.
  9. Has anyone modified their single speed wipers to make them either intermittent or variable speed? If so how was this done.

    Salt attack

Hi can anyone tell me if Salt-away and Salt Attack are the same product? I prefer to use Salt-Away for flushing my outboard but it is getting expensive. I can get Salt Attack delivered much cheaper. I also use Salty Captain for washing the boat but find it too gluggy for outboard flushing.

    Solar charger

Thinking about mounting a solar panel on the boat cover (carport) roof to keep by twin batteries charged. Has anyone done this and what amperage output would I need to be able to leave the set up connected for long periods as a trickle charge but not damage the batteries? Thanks

  14. All but 1 part available (not really required) and in stock at Island Inflatables at Menai NSW. Customer service from Thomas was excellent had a parts diagram and part numbers emailed the next morning. Thanks to slowjigger for the information
  15. Neighbour dropped in an outboard for me to have a look at as there was no stream from the tell tale. Found that the impeller was virtually non existent and that the water passages were clogged with melted bits of rubber. So my question is does anyone know where to buy spare parts for these motors? It is a 4 HP 2 stroke model T4BM (S) Thanks
  16. Caught this one off Bermagui where we were getting Snapper and Morwong looked a bit like a Morwong but had some light grey stripes across it's body which don't show up in photo a bit like a Trevally I'm thinking maybe a Silver Trevally?

Anyone who services/repairs their own Tohatsu outboards can you tell me where you buy your genuine spare parts from?
  18. Got a message from Browns Point Marine USA and their advice was to purchase a DF9.9BTHS4 which comes with electric start and tilt and trim and then upgrade it I am waiting to hear back how but I assume ECU and remove air restrictor. But of course the catch is that it is not available outside of the USA.
  19. Just had a look at parts list looks a bit expensive drive shaft-water tube-clutch shaft-gear shaft-swivel bracket-swivel tube-housing may go aftermarket tilt and trim.
  20. I am still looking at getting a new motor for my polycraft tuffy rated at 15 hp so here is the story so far. Due to medical issues I want a 4 stroke with electric start and power tilt and trim no manufacturers make a short shaft 15 hp with tilt and trim. So options are get hull recertified to 20 hp but one company I approached wont do it Fit an after market tilt and trim $1,000 plus Or my latest thinking is can I buy a long shaft 15 hp with tilt and trim and convert it to a short shaft? is it only the drive housing that is different would this be all I need and change over bits and pieces? And the motor I have decided on is a Suzuki DF15A Any help would be appreciated.
  21. Ended up fitting an Ozhydrofoil solved all of my issues.
  22. Thanks Frank but wont that make the problem worse as far as the ventilation problem?
