  1. Nice one. Gotta be in it to win it
  2. Nice work Dave. Now that monkey's gone it might be time to up ya tackle and go back for those gts. Maybe they should make cranka crabs on 10/0s. Matt
  3. Good spot for bream too. Blackwattle bay has a couple of drains running into it and is worth a throw.
  4. Hi all Stopped for a fish on the way to qld on Tuesday arvo.Conditions weren't the best(windy, rainy) but here I was so off I went. Fishing was hard. I didn't bother fishing the surface due to the conditions just plugged away with a spinnerbait. After about an hour getting wet and a bit chilly managed a 55cm cod off a snag. Thank God! Time to get off the river. Next morning conditions were pretty good so I fished surface lures. Managed to raise about 8 or 9 fish but none found the hooks. Beautiful country so the lack of fish wasn't too much of a disappointment. Went out again that arvo. The weather had turned bad again but I stuck with surface lures. Finally got a hit which missed the hooks AGAIN! This time I changed rod and threw a spinnerbait just past the fish and rolled it back. Instant hookup! 53cm cod. Got another hit on the surface soon after, repeated process and another similar sized fish was in the yak. So all in all a pretty good first cod trip. The fishing wasn't great but I learnt heaps and discovered some beautiful coutry. I can hardly wait to go again. I'm hooked on that surface strike! Matt
  5. Try thr rivers and dams around mudgee. There's a few out that way, which isn't far for you. My mate got one in the middle of town! Windermere is full of BIG yellas. Casting around the intake tower is a good place to start. Good luck
  6. Top fish mate! Which do you prefer, catching or singing the blues? I'm crap at both
  7. Awesome! Getting one. Can't wait to go down some rapids. Mad fun!
  8. Me too! I %%%%% my fingers everytime I open my tackle box. I think half the fun in fishing is trying to work it out. If only fish could talk. I'll keep trying
  9. l think you guys are bang on. Colours mainly catch fishermen . But i think contrasts catch fish. Stripes, spots, bleeding gills and contrasting tails. Flouro seems to make a difference in dirty water but as for pink or yellow flouro I'm not sure. Gold and silver are an exception as thats flash not colour. Any thoughts or am i way off? Matt

  11. Bet you smash em. Keep us posted. Make sure you throw a few in the burley
  12. here's my brag tatt. Top line is 50cm. Pretty accurate, took longer to measure out than draw. When a bass hits that take a photo! Tip. Put tattoo guns away on rainy days!
  13. to sit down and pull the legs off grasshoppers so they won't jump out of a matchbox is dedication. Clear?
  14. On a recent bass trip we stopped mid morning for a break and a bit of lunch and a carp fish off the bank. As I'm getting my corn out my mate says "try these i reckon they'll work. " and handed me a container of MEALWORMS. Well what a session, carp, bass and grayling one after another. Reckon the mullet would've eaten them too but they were a no show. What a great bait. Hardier and easier to keep than worms (they don't sweat ) and they're cheap at the pet shop. Thought I'd share. Matt
  15. Thanks mate that's the area I was looking at. Heading through to gatton and then back so i could fish further up if need be. Any suggestions?
  16. Try going old school and give spoons a go. Tiger/mountain minnows are classics same with tobys. Trout like most fish love shiny things. Versatile lures they cast a mile, flutter when they sink, suited to almost any type of retrieve plus you can jig them and they catch everything. Give em a go! I love em Matt
  17. Hi capt. I've caught boney bream a few times in opera house traps baited with meat in small dams near lightning ridge. Don't see why this method wouldn't work elsewhere. I've also caught them on worms in the murray.
  18. Great idea mate. Spinners are my go to lures when the fishing is tough. I just chuck them up rapids and hang on when they hit the bottom. They are mainly smaller fish but great for your confidence. Catch a couple and put the surface lure back on! Celtas are the best quality but they all work . 1 more thing about bass. When they are on they will eat ANYTHING! I've seen them caught on an army man with a hook tied to it!
  19. In small creeks I like to use little clear poppers and stick baits about 35/45mm . 35mm scorpions and little strike pro suspending divers in a sort of mosquito fish colour. In the bigger water I always seem to go back to the old heddon teeny torpedo. I have also been using bigger lures (pompadours/dying flutters) with a bit of success. It's all about the pause! Down deeper I like 60-70mm jointed minnows. Rapala/Sebile make good ones in various depths. If all else fails tie on a no.2 or 3 celta, we call them cheating around here. Hope this helps a bit mate.
  20. This is my first post so hi all. I'm heading up the new england hwy next week and going to stop for a flick. Anyone know of any side of the road spots,I'm thinking around deepwater, emmaville but that's not set in stone . I've got a yak and 2 days. What's the fishing been like up that way?
