  1. Hello all, Im taking the boat to the spit tonight to try stock up on some squid for a massive weekend and Monday session. Thought I might try my hand at catching a Jew tonight while trying for squid (surely another line in the water cant hurt). Could someone tell me the best way to rig up for a Jew and the best bait? is it fresh squid or something else? Any help is appreciated. Cheers Kiwi Dan

  6. Mate what a situation you find yourself in. I to brought a boat off ebay 3 weeks ago which didnt have a name label on it. Speaking to aother friend of mine about all the hoo doo voo doo surrounding boats and renaming them. I purposley told the seller not to tell me the boats name. My thought process was if I dont know the name of the boat then to me there is none therefore im free to name the boat what ever I want. Obviously to late for you but to anyone else who may find themselves in this position maybe they can apply my theory. I think its your decision on what you name your boat. Id also go with the idea of putting his name somewhere on the boat, a rod holder, back of the motor front dash. Best of luck mate. Cheers Kiwi Dan

  9. Thanks Fellas when i use to live over that way everyone use to say that the long reef ramp should only be attempted by the more experienced fishos. This im definitley not but I cant pussyfoot around all the time, so ill give it a go. Being only a new boat owner what sort of wind would be ideal for launching in Knots and what wind direction? thanks Kiwi dan
  10. Hello all Could someboby please give me an idea on how long it would take to get to Long reef from the Spit Bridge with a 40hp pushing a 4.66mt Aluminium? Just a rough idea traveling at a reasonable speed. Or alternativley is there another boat ramp closer that would cut down the time? (a go from tunks) Any help would be appreciated. Cheers Kiwi Dan

I only managed to land the 1 bonito which ive got in the freezer for bait. Hopefully the next outing will produce a few more thumpers and the elusive kingifsh that im yet to land!! Cheers Kiwi Dan

  13. Hi all, Went out on the weekend and only managed to hook up a lot of small stuff and a good bonito to take home for bait. Im tossing up weather or not to go for a late arvo early evening fish for kings or stay home and watch mighty Manly clean up the Broncos. So to my question, do Kings still go on the bite after the sun goes down or is it more a waste of time? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers Kiwi Dan
  14. Thanks fellas, i figured it would be expensive. Ill do some searching for the hookless that looks good. Did you purchase it or was it already in your boat? Do you have a rough idea of cost?

  20. Hello Fishraiders, Well im breaking my "fishradier" virginity as I have only just signed up to Fishraider last night. I have been reading the posts for the past couple months picking up tips and reading everyones good fortunes so thought its time to get in on the action. Went our Saturday morning with my bro to for a quick flick to see if we could gather a feed for him and his family. We got to Tunks at about 9am and the carpark was relativley empty. Becasue I have been catching a fair bit at Grotto lately I headed straight there in my quest to prove to my big bro that I was the supreme fishermen. We anchored up quickly got the lines in the water. After about 15 minutes I was into the first Trev for the day pulled that in and off goes my second line a nice bream. For the next hour it was all me, all the bro could do was sit and watch how it was done. As you could imagine as soon as I got a big head my luck ran out and he showed me why he is the older and wiser. His baitcaster went ape and after a good little fight he landed a good sambo the size of my esky lid. Then he pulled in a fairly large trev which he dropped at the boat. I was more then happy to remind him where a certain %%% of fish are lost. Next thing his line is off again, not much weight to it at all but once we made out it was a very small bream I noticed something was following it. He played it slow and then smash he was on a nice little king, surprisingly it took the bream and gave my brother a good fight. My brother played the king and brought it up for a quick pic and release. I was a little filthy he caught the first king in my boat but you get that!! After a while we headed over to the bombora for a bit then headed home. We only ended up taking enought for a feed but in total would got over 21 keepers. At the end of the day I was out fished but seeing it was my boat I still got him to clean the fish when we got back!! It is my boat after all!
