  1. G'day Saga Sounds like they will come up a treat especially for that price. One question... Who manufactures the blanks?? Answers to your questions.. 1) prefered length of foregrip on each of these blanks.... around 2.5in for me 2) prefered length of rear grip on each of these blanks... the lighter stick 4in... up to 6 or maybe even 7in for the heavier blanks 3) size of reel you would use on each of these blanks.... 2000 4) Line class you would use on each of these blanks .... 4lb fireline with leaders fron 4lb to 20lb 5) max drag you would use on each of these blanks... I think we have all been in situations where we have had to lock up on a fish..... but once you get a feel for a rod you get to know its limits. Just one thing... are the blanks available in 1pc?? Its just a personal choice for me but I am not a fan of 2pc rods

Nice looking stick. What blank is it built on??
  3. G'day Warwick - Yeah she was a foggy old morning.. Made for an awesome sunrise.... and fishing poppers around the lilly pads just made for one of those magical mornings Thanks again Brendon. Sounds like you and I might have to have a beer and a bit of a chin wag before we plan the trip
  4. Brendon - Thanks again for the info.. I might have to have a tarn to you if we get around to planning a trip. The next big canoe trip I want to do is the Clarence Gorge Sorry guys... forgot all about the photos... This was about the average size for the day
  5. Thanks Kingpin Its good to see good numbers of small fish in the system.......... but a couple of better fish would be nice A couple of my mates did Kuruah a few years ago and said nothing but good things.... Looks like I might have to think about getting another canoe.
  6. Looks like a frigate... They can be very single minded when they are chasing bait First one I have heard of that has been caught by hand
  7. Its been a while since I have had anything to post of any merit. Myself and deckie decided to blow the bass cob webs out of our system and explore some new water, for us at Clarencetown. We miss judged the run and when we arrived at the ramp its was still pitch black. Just on a side note I had forgotten how awesome the stars look once you are away fron the lights of town. So we had a bit of time to kill Anyway as the sky was starting to get a bit lighter in the east we dropped the boat in. As more and more light came over the horizion we could start to make out the edge of the lilly pads. That was all we needed to get casting. We were fishing poppers in and around the edge of the weed. The fishing was very slow, without so much as a touch in 20 mins, not looking good. But I persisted with with the popper while decikie went for a jackel...... Wouldn't you know it 3rd cast he hooks up. Only a small fish around 20cm but he was on the board. I kept on with the popper and not long after I boated another small fish which made a b-line for my lure from under a lillypad, creating a little bow wave as he went. As the day went on we tried spinnerbaits, SPs, HBs, etc and we were picking up the odd small fish here and there but couldn't raise a better quality one. The final score for the day was Me-12 Deckie-9 with the best being the 1st fish at 20cm ish and smallest lucky to make 9cm. Its just a great looking piece of water up there and I'm sure there has to be a better quality of fish around but they just didn't want to play..... Guess its just a good excuse to go back I have a couple of photos that i'll put up tomorrow
  8. Very lucky fella. But what sort of person will fish Snapper in a 2m swell???
  9. G'day Stewie Good to see another Coasty on the boards. I asked a similar question some time. Have a look at the thread HERE
  10. Ah..... look at that .... stone motherless last Guess it show it my first tipping comp
  11. Yep ... Im in too Never have been to good at picking winners......... especially in League...... but why not Come on guys and gals..... the more the merrier
  12. Tyrone Glad you and your girl are ok. Even if you are a bit shaken. As much as it sucks all you lost was money and that can be replaced. Even here on the Coast there are groups of 10-15 little $##%@!! walking the streets at all hours giving people a hard time. You could probably handle 3 or 4 of them but a that many they are just best avoided. Spot on Shane. I'm a big believer in Karma. These guys will get what's coming to them at some stage.. On a happier note, I ran into one of the litte sods at the club one night who gave me a hard time with a heap of his mates. When they are by themselves they loose their bravado real quick
  13. Nice work Warwick Where did ya get it and what did ya get it on??
  14. It really depends where you are fishing, what you are fishing for, what size popper, etc Give us a bit more info and I'm sure someone will be able to help...
  15. Thanks guys I am very happy with the finished product.... pitty its being shipped up to my brother I was looking forward to getting stuck into a few Glenbawn bass with it... But my brother is only 30 once I had a mate coming out from the states and I got him to bring a few blanks, guides, etc with him so it worked out a lot cheaper than if you were to buy the bits here. From memory all the components were around $120.
  16. Just thought I would share with you all my latest rod creation... Its built on a Forecast SP844 7ft blank. This was going to be a new spinnerbait rod for me.... but my brother decided he wanted a baitcaster for his 30th so what can you do.. The grip Hook holder.... tried to get a bit fancy here Stripper guide... (if thats the right term) Other guide.. Next cab off the rank will either be a new 5wt for me or a mate wants a new spin stick..... decisions, decisions..
  17. G'day Andrew Sorry can't help with locations. I have been up there a few times but haven't really cracked the fishing. I have spoken to a few people up there about charters and the common theme seems to be Paul Dolan. He runs Fraser Coast Sportsfishing and concerntrates on lure and fly charters in the bay. If thats the type of fishing you are after he would be your man... I haven't been out with him personally but will be giving him a shot next time I am up that way. His web address is www.frasercoastsportfishing.com/ Hope this helps

    Wat To Do

One of the things I checked with my insurance company was that they would cover transport of the boat in the event that the trailer was stolen... Might be worth a phone call to see if you are covered. I like Telco's idea the best... More bait, fuel and beer and deal with it later

    Cowan Creek

I have only fished Cowan a couple of times for bream on lures. The trouble I find with the place is that every shore line looks like it should hold fish. The deep rock shores just scream bream but as we all know they cant all hold fish. There has to be a reason for the fish to be there and I can't pick a difference between one and the other
  20. Thats an easy one. My favourite outfit is the one I am going to buy next..... But from the ones I have already.... Its a home rolled S001 blank extended to 6'6" with a Biomaster 1000. Its great for tossing resin heads and light jigheads which is what most of my fishing is.
  21. Saturday we are planning to head up to Dora Creek to give the local bream population a bit opf a stir up.... well that the plan anyway ... Hopefully I will break this hoodoo that has been haunting me teh last few outings.. Sunday no plans as yet but I am sure it will involve a few somewhere.. Have a good one all
  22. That's as good as excuse as any We will have to throw a few beers in next time if its any where near as warm as yesterday. One good thing about a quiet day is a couple of bags of ice and the live well doubles as an esky We will get em next time.......... A couple of weeks in WA and it seems like I haven't had a chance to get on here for ages. The last comp I fish was the Lake Macquarie Pro Bream...... another dismal effort ...... but it still beats working. Toying with the idea of doing a couple of teh summer session over the warmer months
  23. Spot on mate....... Still a great arvo
  24. Myself and Grantm hit Wyong Creek yeserday arvo. A nice warm steamy afternoon, not wind... It looked perfect. After all the rain I was expecting a bit more colour in the water but it was all good, my expectations were high and I was expecting to at least get a couple. As we travelled along on the electric there was plenty of bait around (shrimp, mullet, herring) but a definate lack of bream. Didn't even see any on the snags or up in the shallows which was unusual for this time of year. Grant was first on the board with a little chopper. Then I jagged a little herring on a HB then a little flattie on a hawg.... but still no bream. We moved up the river a bit further where I got my first "bream bite". There was a bit activity up here and you could see a few bream feeding up in the shallows. I finally managed our first and only bream for the arvo... He was huge............. all 10cm of him .... Grant finished of with another chopper and it was time to head home. Still a great afternoon on the water and it was great to meet another member. We will have to get out and give them another shot soon mate..
  25. There is a fella that fishes a few bream comp that has done just that... I think it is Tom from Mars Lures. The boat the converted is a jet boat. He added an electric, live well, etc and it came up quite well.
