  1. I have sent an email off to Fisheries and will wait and see what they have to say. I just used the general email address off the DPI site... Im assuming this is the best one to use???
  2. I recon it looks great... I would be keen for a bit more info on costs, etc
  3. Yeah it was a bit of a surprise. Other than the growth the fish was in great condition. I might have to shoot an email off to fisheries and see what they say
  4. Hi all I caught a flathead a while ago up in Lake Macquarie. When I cleaned it, it had smome small yellow growths around its gills... see photo.. I havent noticed it any flathead I have caught in the past. Any know what it might be??

    Bow Mount Plate

What area are you in mate?? Im sure someone will be able to point you in the right direction
  7. I agree that the odd time not flushing your motor wont do a great deal of harm but if this is an on going problem it cant be good for the engine.... A rain water tank would be a good solution but with my current finances its not really an option. I fish Lake Macquarie and Newcastle harbour fairly regulary and there are not restrictions up that way and they still have taps at most ramps so I will be packing a hose... The other issue would have to be trailer brakes.. Surely not giving these a wash down regularly would have to be a problem and may even get to the stage wher they are unsafe.. I will go and have a yarn to the rangers at lunch time and see what they have to say Also I saw on the news last night that Sydney will probably be facing the same resrictions before Christmas... So it sounds like its going to be a bit more wide spread
  8. Hi all Here on the Central Coast we were moved to level 4 water restrictions. This means (amongst other things) that "all external use of town water is banned" I phoned the council to make sure this included flushing of outboards and washing of trailer brakes... which it does... Now the question is what to do?? Its not so much of a problem if I fish Lake Macquarie or Newcastle Harbour as the Newcastle area is not on water restrictions... But if I fish around home the boat and motor cant have a tub.... I know there are a few Coasties on here... What will you guys be doing??

    Cork Grips

You can buy a commercial cork sealer from most tackle shops with a decent rod bulding section... or I have heard people also use bees wax.... but not sure how this would go on a warm day.. Personally I like the natural look and feel.. To clean up your cork try a rag soaked in metho and give it a good once over
  10. I haven't fished it myself for quite a while but have heard a few second had reports... There have been a few good bream caught at night around the bridge and if you have a boat there are still a few blackfish to be had.... but finding some good weed could be difficult..... There are a few flatties starting to turn up as well and they will only get better as the weather warms up... I have heard a few people say that the prawn run is meant to "officially start" this weekend... hope some one has told the prawns We will have to wait and see
  11. My Elegant came on a Marlin trailer... Had it just under 2 years now and cant fault it.
  12. Thanks mate.. I will be happy to just catch one... not overly fussed with the size... but a lunker would be nice Swoffa was nice enough to point me in the right direction and even lend me a rod... Thanks Mate... SO i guess the rest is up to me Worse case I suppose I can go an chase some carp just kidding
  13. No fishing againg this weekend ... Its been 3 weeks now.... not happy at all Sunday Im off to the UK for 3 weeks... Hopefully to beat kbark's new Northern Pike record have a good one all
  14. Great report.. Its always fun to expoler new water ... especially in another country Im heading off to the UK on Sunday for 3 weeks .... Im hoping to tangle with a few of the toothy critters while Im there
  15. G'day Roberta Its sounds like you are doing all the right things The only difference I have is I use newspaper and leave just enough water in the weed to make the paper damp. But I recon cloth or rag would have the same effect. One thing I would change is don't store it in a plastic bag just leve it in the bucket. I have found the weed sweats alot more and it will hold up better if allowed to breath. Just dont let it dry out.. But as with all baits fresh is best
  16. I'd be keen for that.... But I would need someone to show me that these bloody silver beasts actually exist..... Im quite happy to swap my secret pike eel spots for some jew spots

They sound interesting... Had anyone got a photo of one??
  18. I'm hopeless at moveies.... but.. 5 - Roxanne... I think that was its name
  19. It all depends on how much you want to spend.. I have to agree with Mick, the Sony's are worth a look. I had one for ages and it never missed a beat. In saying that I have just upgraded to an Olympus 720SW after the Sony got wet once to many times... The new Olympus is waterproof and shockproof so is more suited to a life in the boat and it takes a great picture. You will need some sort of optical zoom. As Mick said the digital zoom is a waste of time. The other thing to keep an eye on is the pixel count.. although some of them now are a bit over the top for your average Joe. Make sure you see a couple of photos printed that have been taken on the camera.... or better still take one yourself and get them to print it while you wait
  20. Great topic.... I love catching salmon on light line.. great figh and they give a really good account of themselves For a relaxing arvo its hard to beat blackfish... its simple, laid back and teh hardest choice you have to make is what depth to fish But the all time fave would have to be bass on the surface..... There is something about watching your little jitterbug on its way back to the boat... just the anticipation is awesome... then there are those unexpected strikes right at your feet that scare the bejeesus out of ya
  21. Its a great way to just kick back and relax... Since I got the boat I have spent most of my time chasing bream and bass on lures. It was great to get back and try something I had been neglecting for the last couple of years
  22. After being tied up with domestic duties most of the day on Saturday I thought I deserved a bit of a break. So come 3pm ... "Stuff this Im going fishing" With only couple of hours of light left it wasnt worth getting the boat wet so I deceided to dust off the long rod and chase a few blackfish (or Luderick for the politically correct ) down the creek.. It has been a couple of years since I had chased the stripped wonders so I wasnt expecting a great deal. A quick stop for some weed and I was on my way. I arrived to find the creek a little tanin in colour and a slight flow towards the mouth... it looked perfect. So out went the float to start the search for the right depth and hopefully find a fish or 2. After a 30 seconds of drift my float disapeard in the blink of an eye.... a little shocked I struck and came up with .... nothing... oh well a down on the first drift is still a good start. The action continued for the rest of the afternoon with good downs almost every drift. I ended up with about 25 odd fish for the arvo with 10 or so going legal.. They wern't huge fish with the best going 29cm but they were there in numbers. I even managed 3 double headers (2 fish on the 2 hook rig) and got dusted up twice by bigger fish..... Most of them still had a very white belly so they hadn't been in the creek long I had forgotten how much I enjoy chasing blackfish... There is something about a long rod, centerpin reel, and a float that just say ... RELAX Guess where I will be next weekend. Hopefully the bigger Bronzies will have moved in
  23. Saturday will probably be house bound catching up on a few domestic chores.. Sunday - We will be hitting Lake Macquarie (again) to see if we can russel up a few bream... not holding my breath though have a good one all

    Whos Going To

Have to agree mate.... Still some great soccer to be had It would have been awesome to see the Aussies in the final 8... and from there who knows. Just by qualifing, then making it to the round of 16 and giving Italy a good scare has done huge amounts for the game in this country.. and earned us some international respect I have never seen media coverage for soccer like it and it will only further the game...
  25. It sure beats teh hell out of what I did yesterday....... work
