yep, the fin and albie's are still out there
  2. don't think me being rude cause that is not the intention what so ever, correct me if i am wrong, isn't it the longer the rod, the more leverage the fish has got against you? and the shorter the rod the better it is?
  3. Hi Raiders, I know only some or a few fisho's fish off the rock's but i was wondering if anyone could or can please help me out, I am going to get my self a TLD 50 to use off the rock's live baiting for big kings and for yellowfin as well, I am trying to decide on what rod length would be best as a spot i know off you can catch big kings live baiting and some people use either 24 or 37kg (mainline - that is) with 150 pound leader. the length's i am deciding on are 5 foot 6, 6 foot, or 7 foot but i am a bit afraide that 7 foot is and will be to long. which length out off the above 3 would you mostly prefer to go with? Thanks.
  4. we got a nice albie today estimated about 3kg may be a bit bigger and we had a rat fin on about the same size and fought it to the boat, one of us took hold of the leader and just as we were about to get it in the boat, the hook fell out .
  5. yep there are still fin out there that's for sure with big one's still there to. i am going out today so i will let everyone know how we went. a friend was out yesterday and he said they got about 8 in total just small one's which was a bit of a mix a few albies, a few fin and 1 lonely striped tuna. he also said that they saw some big fin out there as well, he did not say roughly what size or anything but they were big and i know he is being honest. we should get some today, anyway i'll put up a report with hopefully some pic's when i can when we get back after cleaning up. time to get some sleep now as i got to go tomorrow.
  6. hopefully my self and 2 mate's will be going out on either Thursday or Friday. one thing i know and which i am still very very positive about is that the fin are still out there, so hopefully and fingers crossed we will be out there Thursday or Friday, I may and could be wrong but i have a very positive feeling that it should and will be fishable on Thursday and Friday. I guess we will just have to wait and see.
  7. nice bonnie and the rock ledge's look un real.
  8. Hi Raiders, This was recently and a mate of mine told me that he heard off a big Broadbill Swordfish was hooked on an electric reel which from what i know was a Daiwa Tanacom Bull 1000. from memory my mate told me it was at bermi or Narooma and i can not exactly remember when it was however i do know that it was with in the last 3 weeks I am not sure and i am not saying that it is or is not true, just wondering if anyone know's about it or has heard about it at all
  9. Hi Raiders Can or could you please help or try and help me out if you can, I have got a Daiwa Saltiga 4500, and i want to try and match it up to a rod off 10 foot, 2 piece, I want it to use basically just for catching livey's off the rock's for Land Based Game, I want to be able to use it just for catching the following= garfish small to large, yakkas small to large, slimies small to large, and legal size Tarwhine, Bream and Trevally. Does anyone know if such a rod is available at all or if such a rod off the shelf exist's? i am ideally after just 1 rod that is nice and versatile to be used for catching the above and to be used with a 4500, or if a rod exist's but a different reel is needed, I am and will be more then willing to get that reel. if you can please help me out at all it is very much appreciated, what do you think are some rods to do the job i would be looking at buying for what i want to use it for in the above? thanks in advance and happy .
  10. some whopper Bream there , well done.
  11. some nice pigs there .
  12. I agree all though i have not yet live baited nannie's for yft but hoping to try it one day soon to find out if we do hopefully get a big fin on it cause apparantly they are a gun bait just for big fin keeping the smaller fin away and only the big one's will eat them, I am not sure how they would go off Sydney and that is not to say that they would not work or produce big fin, i do know how ever they work down south at Bermi so i do not see why they would not work, as a matter of fact i am going to try it hear off Sydney, who know's what could happen. not that i would not eat or try one, but i would much prefer to live bait them then eat them, that's me.
  13. some cracker fin there, in the 3rd and 4th photo are both the shot's off the same fish or 2 different fish all together? what did they weigh in at?
  14. Just curious, in the second and third photo, those chunk's cut up on the bait board, are they slimies cut up?
  15. I am not being rude just to let you know I know they are both good reel's my self. you said Shimano has a bigger following but that doesn't mean it is always the better reel. the way i take that is that the Penn is better then the Trinidad, is that correct, is that what you are getting at?
  16. I want to be able to use Cotton Cordell pencil poppers, the smaller Halco Roosta poppers, metal lures from 60gram spanyid snipers and raiders through to 85gramer's, and bibless minnow's with the largest size being the size of the Halco Max bibless minnow. will i or won't i be able to cast the Halco Max bibless minnow using 10kg mainline (mono of course), i will have to use 15kg mainline (mono) won't i to be able to cast the Halco Max bibless minnow? I mainly want to fish 10kg mainline and 15kg as well but i would like one reel i can use both 10kg and 15kg on out of either a Trinidad DC or a Penn Torque 300, targetting Pelagics of all size's and any other fish and fish species that decide's to eat my lure, fishing Land Based, plus i will be going up to place's like Queensland and else where like up North to Foster when the LBG season's start where they get Longtail's off all size's, possibily yellowfin, Golden Trevally, GT'S=Giant Trevally up to about 20kg's, Queenie's, Spanish Mackerel off all size's.
  17. Hi Raiders, I am after some help and info please, I just bought myself a Trinidad DC 2 days ago and yes i like it still, yesterday i was having a look on a website at a Penn Torque 300 and i liked that as well to. I would like some info please on anyone's thought's, e.t.c on both reels compared to each other or if you want to put it into perspective a Trinidad DC vs or against a Penn Torque 300. does anyone know which is the better reel out of the 2? which one would be made from the strongest material, have the smoothest drag, have the better drag washers, have the better and stronger gear's and have the strongest drag out of the Trinidad DC or the Penn Torque 300?? Thanks in advance.
  18. Hi Raiders, yesterday i bought my self a Trinidad DC in the 30 size to use for High Speed Spinning for Pelagics Land Based which is still brand new and has not been used since i bought it yesterday. now i know that being a size 30 is meant for 15kg and i also know that i can or could use 10kg on the 30 which is what i want to use 10kg. I am thinking of either 1) selling it to get my self the size 20 which is meant for 10kg, or 2) just keeping the 30 and just using 10kg on it and that is it, end of story. what i would please like to know is who of you would do or who of you would prefer to do which one of the above 2?? all info and advice greatly appreciated. Thanks, and happy .

    Tuna Gear

Hi There, I am going to get my self either a Tiagra 50W or a Daiwa Sealine Tournament 50W SLT to be used for everything from cubing and trolling for Tuna right through to Marlin. out of the above 2 mentioned reel's, who would get a Tiagra 50W? and who would get the Daiwa 50W? which one would have the most line capacity out of the 2? Thanks.
  20. well done, is there or do you have a photo of the 70kg fin?
  21. yep, the fin are at and around Brown's but in saying that they are all over the place.
  22. I was out today with 4 mates, we got one fin, about 15-20kg, 1 gemmie and we got some nice blue eye , biggest blue eye was about 15-20kg, blue eye shore beats fin on the table if you ask me. we started our cube trail, i reckon with in about 20mins and we were on, decession making time more fin or bottom bash for more desirable, better eating fish? our choice was made, stuff the fin, let's get some blue eye.
