  1. Onya, that looks like my next focus now that the harbour has gone into hybernation ;-)
  2. Well, they say a picture is worth a thousand words, but you just rewrote that rule. Those words were worth a thousand pictures, and in fact the pitcures posted had nothing on the actual report! That is just amazing, and will take some topping... I don't know how a yak can beat a fish of that size, and i dont know how your yak stayed the right way up!
  3. Hi there, i just asked a mechanic mate of mine about your problem and he said i should tell you to put a chev in it. Apparently that will solve all your problems ;-)
  4. That is an amazing story. Look on the bright side, if the rod didnt snag, you wouldna got anything, and your rod would be out at sea somewhere!!
  5. Tops!!! I really have to get out and do some of that with my dad whos a mad keen blackfisho... it'll take away my winter fishin blues... oh yeah, i got those winter fishin blues real bad...
  6. Wow that is a great catch there - i cant remember seeing so many big flatties come outta there in one session. They were making your jewies look small!! Almost...
  7. Bloody nice whiting there! Good onya. Im missing summer so much...
  8. Geeze i get asked all the time if the anchor rope is tied to the boat... wot about you others? Asking if the bung is in is helpful & forgivable... but are there any other questions that annoy you? As i said the anchor rope one is the one i get all the time. Perhaps we can think up some smart arse answers to these common and annoying q's?! :-) Perhaps "No" is a good generic one!!
  9. Man thats a lot of anchors so far :-) can we get this thread pinned?
  10. Hey tray, The voltage type (either AC or DC) doesnt matter. Its the current that matters. 10 amps is 10 amps, AC or DC :-) The cable has to be matched to the load current, and the length & CSA (ie resistance) of the cable and voltage drop tolerance of the thing on the end of the cable. Cable does have a voltage and temperature rating, which is a function of the insulation thickness and properties generally. Using mains cable for extra low voltage DC applications is always fine so long as the currents are appropriate. Cheers, Jon PS Thicker conductor = greater current handling capacity.
  11. Gday all, I was wondering if it would be amusing to create a log of all the anchors we loose... as a bonus we may actually learn where not to use sand anchors perhaps :-) At the end of the year we could rack up a tally of lost anchors hahaha. No prizes for the person with the most lost anchors hahaha! I lost a sand anchor on Watts Reef last sunday 13th April 2008. Whos else has lost and anchor this year?
  12. Yeah the good ones are not cheap eh! Ive given up on the cheap ones, and after 4 covers, ive finally bought a good one ;-)
  13. Hey mr mango, just wondering why you want tinned cable? Its your call of course, but if i may offer some comment - if you are worried about corrosion, just use single core building wire - its has less overall surface area to corrode & holds its shape well (not good for flexing but). Also, tinning doesnt help conductivity - solder, tin and others are actually pretty patheric conductors compared to copper ;-) BTW, if you are crimping or inserting your cable into screw terminals, dont tin it with solder - this actually reduces the compressability of the wire and means that the crimp or screw termination is NG. All the best mate - should be a satisfying job! Cheers, Jon
  14. Gee thats a lot! I recon you'll need some 1.5 inch for the rod holder bits. Inch may be a bit tight? But perhaps thats what you want...
  15. Thats a good idea. Or put a bit of extra air in the tyres ;-)
  16. Great! Its great the way the bimini/canopy folds down so that the cover can go on from the windscreen. Do you cover the boat with a conventional boat cover too?
  17. Gday all, Well, went out yesterday arvo for a fish with a mate on The Bay for not a great deal, bar a few odds and ends. Saw some pillies being chased around the Watts Reef by something, that turned out to be baracoutta, and Ian my mate hooked one on a whole pillie. So, down goes the 'coutta... and then, up comes... A MASSIVE BLOODY CUTTLEFISH!!! It was absolutely massive. It was about a metre from the boat when it let go and buggered off. Fair dinkum, it was so huge. Its body was way bigger than the volume of its tenticles, and its body was as big as plastic shopping bag full of water - thats what it looked like too. Apart from that, we lost an anchor... oh well... Anyhow, better than being stuck at home! Cheers, Jon

    Happy Birthday

Thanks - had a good one. Got a new kingie rig!!!
  19. Gee i love the look of blackfish.
  20. Excellent stuff. Yesterday was a lovely day. Hey, i have a theory about when the livies start crapping themselves - i grab the rod (if its in the holder) and gently lift so that the yakka cavitates and cant swim, then hes a sitting duck for the fish to grab him. Has worked 2 out of 2 times, so 100% success, but far from thoroughly tested ;-) On sat we fished with rods in the holders and lost 4 baits, one with its head taken clean off, for no hookups. I recon we woulda had a better chance if we had been holding the rods... Cheers, Jon
  21. Hahahaha - ill have to put on a bit of weight and loose some hair ;-) Needle nardle noo!
