  1. Spring sunrise over Harbour bridge.
  2. I only ended up with one flatty then got two bream on plastics back near the ramp under the moored boats on squidgie wrigglers off the water by 8;30am. Nearly every time i go out i come across a raider! See you guys next time. cheers
  3. G'day Stewy/Johno, I saw you guys at the ramp then up river, i was the guy in the blue quintrex coastrunner. By the way good catch. Cheers Charlie.
  4. Hi guys, Me and my mate hit the harbour early this morning to collect some squid which were easy to come by then were after some kings. There were huge masses of bait balls in the harbour today so we dropped a live squid and within no time the first bait got smashed by a angry king. To cut the long story short we caught 6 kings all well over legal but we only kept one fish, all taken on live squid. We forgot the camera in the car today but here is a pic of my mate with the best fish of the day, the king went 92cm. Cheers squidking.
  5. Hi guys, I have a sea pathfinder watch which show the current barometre and the previous 24 hours. The barometre reading on this watch is very accurate and i have noticed many times that when there is a sudden rise or drop fish do go crazy but especially squid. When this happens i have caught squid one after the other. I guess you cant count on it every time there is a rise or drop but its amazing how often i have noticed this over the past year that i have had the watch. Cheers Squidking.
  6. Hi guys, The king went 93cms and was very well conditioned. Also the leather jackets were a pest, there must be something we can do about them? I cant wait till next week! Cheers Squidking
  7. Hi guys Fished the harbour today to find it tough going for the first time this season. Only managed 6 squid today which i had to work for and also found the kings very fussy today. Water temp was almost 21 degrees. After going through 5 squid for only one rat i was not happy, time to move found some fish holding up on structure, dropped down a live squid and hooked up solid! Good to see there are still good kings around. Squidking.
  8. I plan to i just have not got around doing so.
  9. The most i ever get on my bait pumps are 12 months max. Since buying my boat 3 years ago i am on my 4th johnson pump. I only just had to replace my pump last week and that pump only lasted about 6 months! If my new pump does not last at least 12 months i will change brands. Squidking
  10. We caught the jewies in the parra river. Also the water was not that dirty at all. Cheers.
  11. Hi reeseman, The fight was good (when you been catching kingies the jewies dont feel like they fight as much) but what was better than the fight was when the jewies first take the bait my baitrunners were smoking, gotta love it. Cheers thesquidking
  12. G'day raiders, Me and a mate fished the harbour last night for jew in the rain and wind but was rewarded with these two jewies. It has been a while since i fished for jew land based as i normally fish off the boat but with this crappy weather we are having it was not woth going out on the boat. Both fish were taken on squid strips. Cheers Thesquidking.
  13. G'day mate, What was the water temp in the harbour like? cheers
  14. Hi guys, Yesterday evening when i was watching the news i heard Ian Mcdonald say that they are going to be reviewing commercial fishing in sydney harbour as since the trawlers were banned there is a increase of fish and sharks, as we all know. My question is would they allow the commercial fisherman back as a way to stop or slow down the incease of sharks in the harbour? As anglers we all know that there will always be sharks in the harbour regardless of the commercial guys back or not but the non anglers and general public might think the goverment should bring the commercial fisherman back so there will not be a incease in sharks in our harbour. Remembering all that has been written in the press is that "sharks numbers in the harbour are in record numbers due to the ban of trawlers in the harbour" which is true but can this back fire on us? Just my thoughts. thesquidking.
  15. Thanks for the reply John, you are right regarding fishing your tackle to the limit to stop the fish before they reef you. I lost count on the number of big fish i lost last year to tackle failure even though i was using 50lb gear. Im going out tomorrow morning (fri) and ill put out the biggest live squid i catch. Thanks again.
  16. Hi dogtooth, Once again GREAT catch, what are you doing right to be nailing these big kings? This is your 3rd big king over a metre in a month!!!! Regards Squidking.
  17. Another excellent catch from Botany Bay, well done.
  18. I read on another post the other day "this is the calm before the storm" and i have to agree with that, before you know it there will be kings caught in big numbers on a daily basis and if the last few seasons are to go by the kings should be of good size as each year the average size is up on the year before. Not saying that there are no kings around at the moment, you just have to work for them, though you are right the kings have slowed down the last few weeks. Cheers.
  19. Well done, thats a awsome flatty and a great catch on light line. Cheers
  20. Hi guys, Some interesting replies so far. I also think that it depends on what kind of fishing that you do as to what affect the sounder might have, example if you are luring from your boat or casting weighted baits away from the boat that will have a differance as to fishing directly under the boat as you would for kings. I have caught all my jewies and kings when my sounder is off but then again i switch it off 95% of the time when anchored. Regards Squidking
  21. Hi Guys, This question may of had been asked before but anyway here we go, I am interested to hear who keeps their sounders on whilst anchored and fishing in shallow water such as Sydney harbour? I always turn my sounder off while at anchor but have never really tried fishing at anchor with the sounder on as i fear it will scare the fish off. I run a 620 furuno with a 600 watt tranny. Just curious on other peoples thoughts? Cheers Squidking
  22. Awsome catch once again Dogtooth, Like the other guys said to catch two kings over 1m within two weeks of each other is insane. Very well done, the bay is just getting better and better. Cheers Squidking
  23. Well done to your mate douggy, they are solid kings. Shame you were not there........ Squidking.
  24. G'day guys I also was out on sunday and found middle harbour very quite, not even a site of a king. We had out small live squid, big squid heads, strips you name it.................nothing. We tried 5 spots in middle harbour for the same results. Squid were not hard to find though. Cheers
