  1. Size #2.5 Harimitsu jigs arrived today!
  2. Harimitsu. Here is my collection, ranging from standard colours to special yearly releases. #2.5 #3.0 Size is determined by water depth and current. The colour is determined by available light, water condition and squid behaviour. A metre every three or so seconds is pretty standard for normal/regular models.
  3. Petzl Nao, best one on the market at the moment.
  4. Great footage, leave the music out next time.
  5. Take a look at Tackle Rat's pliers. They range from $15 to $40 and they're made of surgical stainless steel. You know why you have to look after them? It's because most of the pliers on the market today are made with low quality stainless. I have a set of needle nose pliers that I bought 20 years ago for $30, expensive for pliers back then, and after having sat at the bottom of the bag for years they only have superficial surface corrosion, which is easily removed.

    pest species.

I'd love to see trout eradicated from Australian waters.
  7. How on earth did that happen?
  8. The one and three year increases are completely ridiculous.

    Squid Jigs

Some great advice in this thread. It really pays to learn about the light phase and water condition in regards to foil colour. My advice is to buy your jigs from Japan as you'll have access to a wider variety of manufacturers and you'll pay significantly less than you will here. I use Harimitsu's and I get them for $9-10 each, opposed to $30-40 here, with $13 shipping and they arrive in 3-4 days. This is my current collection of #3.0 Harimitsu's..
  10. Nitro Baby Viper, 3-6kg 9-40g. I just bought one and it's bloody fantastic.
  11. They go on the main shaft above the spool support. By changing the position of the spool on the main shaft you change the line lay.
  12. Booking a ticket right now!
  13. In my opinion the Starlo STP series went downhill when they decided to downgrade all the components to lower the cost, I would not recommend them. If you want something good at a decent price I would look at the Pflueger Trion.
  14. Around Sydney at numerous stores and online.
  15. No reel handles saltwater.
  16. Not unless Shimano has made a mistake on their website.

    Unusual Vic fish

    Nope, you're right.
  18. Squid can be caught in the channel, Belmont Wharf (Though the other night it wasn't producing anything) & at the waterfront around Squid's Ink. Just a few places that come to mind.
  19. The Aernos is not above the Sedona. Personally I'd shop around for a Symetre 1000 FL, I've seen them for $90-$100.
  20. I remember when I was much younger I thought $300-$600 for a set up was expensive but that's now reasonable to me.
  21. It's needed but it depends on the situation. That being said there is a point where all you're getting is an increase in price for little to no benefit, it's like owning that Ferrari and driving it around the city and suburbs. As previously stated fishing tackle has come a long way in the last fifteen years, you don't see people driving steam engine cars to work.
