  1. They've been saying that 27mhz will be phased out for years now.
  2. Cheap jigs won't last as long, and usually don't have any regard for important features such as sink rate, sink angle and/or action.
  3. I picked up a new boat a couple of weeks ago, not brand new though. 2012 Bluefin Bushranger with a 2012 Mercury 60HP Four Stroke.
  4. More turns, especially with Power Pro.
  5. If you change the trebles out for single hooks it makes fishing snag ridden, and new, areas easier, they'll also provide a stronger hook up.
  6. I like Z-Man MinnowZ and 5" StreakZ, unscented model.

    Fish finder help

That's because the Elite 5x has no chart plotter.
  8. I second that, but the OP isn't looking to spend that kind of money. I would suggest the 2015 version of the Pflueger Trion, model PFLTII-SP701L, $140-150.

    Squid tips

Any spot that has weed and sand patches will hold squid. Balmoral all the way back to the Spit always produces.
  10. Can't go past Sunline FC Rock and Sunline Assassin FC.
  11. I've never had that issue, seen that issue, or heard of that issue.
  12. Purple is for small reels and cold climates, tan is for everything else. I use the tan in my 2500 size reels without issue.
  13. I use 0.4 braid with 12lb leader, and 0.8 braid with 16lb leader.
  14. Sunline Rock FC or Sunline Assassin FC.

    Plastics

Z-Man are one of the best in my opinion.

    Plastics

I would look at Plano's Liqua Bait containers.
  17. That's terrible of them, just sloppy work. I hope they don't charge you the second time.
  18. It doesn't take much to cause issues with them.
  19. I use Diggers Wax & Grease Remover, and you'll want to use it to clean everything, not just the felt washers. As for tools, you'll need a small paintbrush for applying grease and another to aid in cleaning parts. This guide of Slinky's may be helpful. http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=46630 The only issue you may have is with the bearings. They need to be opened, cleaned and oiled, but they can be annoying to open even with the appropriate tools. I would ring Shimano and replace them all. Their part numbers can be found on the schematics I posted in my above post.
  20. Alan's website is a wealth of information, for those with and without experience servicing reels.
  21. I don't know what I like better, fishing or servicing reels. A better version of the schematic. http://dunphysports.com/forms/warranty/schematic/ST5000FJ.pdf I can't stand that video for a number of reasons, but mainly due to what he says about the anti-reverse clutch. As I said when I commented on that video last year, the anti-reverse clutch is lubricated by an oil impregnated felt washer and it should only be serviced if water and/or particulates have penetrated it.
  22. Not a bad idea. You should take some line off that spool, it's overfilled.
